I am trying to figure out how the Cavs who at basically up against the cap to either gain some room or get some players back with above minimum deals? Any suggestions?

For instance, if the Cavs sign three minimum guys to unguaranteed deals (or 50,000 guarateed) at like 1 million a piece, can they trade all of them to a team for 1 veteran making 3 million? If so the other team can cut them and get rid of a guy making three guaranteed for only 150,000. The process can be repeated over and over if so.

For instance if the Cavs traded 4-1 million dollar vet mins for Jared Dudley (4 million dollar deal) of the Clippers then the Clippers cut all four guys only losing 200,000 dollars but the Cavs could put cash in the deal also to cover it.

I know that you can do trade plus 125,000 or a certain percentage but how can a team at 62 million get to 72 otherwise. Griffin is smart so it will get done but the Cavs need vet bodies.

They can’t or didn’t do sign and trades for Hawes, CJ Miles or Deng.

They don’t have any trade exemptions. Can a trade exemption be traded?

They do have Brendan Haywood next year, who is only owed 2 milion this year as a former amnesty pick up but has a 10.5 million dollar unguaranteed option next year. The Cavs can trade him as a 10 million dollar man next year and the team can cut him for nothing but that is next summer.

What is to be done about a center that blocks shots. I say sign Blatche, he doesn’t block shots but him and Lebron would be deadly together.

IMO, the Bulls with Gasol, Noah and Taj and a 16 and 7 Derrick Rose (70%) are the favorites in the East and Indiana is the two seed ( without D West Indy doesn’t have the heart for a 5 seed/with him a 2 seed). The Cavs need to some more help besides Mike Miller and even if Ray Allen comes they need more.

Any suggestions on how without giving up young players? Its not Love or Bust to me, there are dozens of guys like Thad Young that could help win games. If the Cavs had Asik I would consider them the favorite for a one seed.

a few years ago and the League made a rule against doing it.

Could a team with an overseas guy sign him to a 10 million deal with only a million guaranteed but let him stay overseas till mid season? When he shows up in January he gets the million but the other pro-rated 4 million he would be owed he wouldn’t get if he is traded and cut? By signing him now but letting him play overseas he would be taking a roster spot but could get traded for a ten million dollar + player. If signed now he would meet eligibility requirements to be dealt be the trading deadline.

Technically he could muk up other deals (mid levels and what not) because that 10 million is on the cap but a team could finish shopping this summer then do the deal because he is their property already and exceed the cap to sign him. All you would need is an agreement that he stays over until January otherwise he would cost 5 million for the first half of the season. Pretty sure Christian Drejer could use that cool million.
