His game complements Noah well and is a good upgrade over Boozer definitely.

I disagree about Gasol complimenting Noah. I think Gasol is a Center only at this point in his career. Look at his stats

2013-14       Where he played mostly as a Centre

      17.4 PTS   9.7 RBS

2012-13     Where he played mostly at PF along side D-12 at the Centre

13.7 PTS   8.6 RBS   Lowest FG % and 2nd lowest FT % of his career !

Bulls and Lakers are finalizing a sign and trade. If it is trade exception, it may still open the possibility of Carmelo going to Lakers. Without a trade exception, it pretty much rules out Lakers and Bulls and he is going back to Ew York. Houston has cap room for 48 more hours but don appear to be n the running. Morey s moves really backfired on him. He could have had Parssons for less than a million and now Im not sure they will have him at all as offer has 15% trade kicker on 15 million per year making him tough to move. Plus dumps Lin and Asik to gain MAX cap space but now nobody worth spending it on. All the big players now spoken for. James, Bosh, Melo, Wade, Gasol, Parsons, Heyward. Who is left? Stephenson? Not a great fit with many teams. Deng, Ariza but nobody worth more than 10mill.

Interesting, I remember reading somewhere that the Bulls promised Gibson a starting role next year, do they go back on that promise or does Gasol come off the bench?

Such a great move by the Bulls. Either way between the Bulls and Spurs would have been a good decision. Maybe the fact that there the Bulls own a more youthful roster and being in the Easy, made the decision a bit easier.

Like CodySLC mentioned, Gasol complements Noah very well. No more defend the burisers and his corner threes and mid range will help out Noah spacing. Both are great passing big man.

Bulls will have a extrempley deep roster to use in late situation circumstances.

Keys to the ring: Rose , Noah, Gibson and Gasol

Defensive potential: Butler, Snell and Brewer

Shooters: McDermott & Fredette (Should be able to cotribute more, I certainly hope so)

Should run smooth and well with a systematic style under Coach T.

Any chances of puzzling back Deng?

Mirotic as well.  They are in negotiations right now, and a deal seems imminent.

with gasol in the line-up would Noah shift down to the 4? I recall him playing that position initially and given his slimmer frame than gasol, along with his ever-growing all-round offensive repertoire, surely that’d be the switch. Gasol as a sixth man could work but seeing as how Gibson has solidifed himself as an awesome lift off the bench is there any real sense in injecting him into the starting line up with Gasol around?

I’d love to see Deng return as well. Just to give the Bulls a really good shot at coming out of the East.

That would be a really scary team with good depth and Thibs would actually play his bench again, so the starters won’t be dead come the post-season.

     Bulls fan here…

    I’m sorry, I don’t get this.

Don’t get me wrong, I like Pau, and maybe he’s the only guy the Bulls could get. But if anything, with Taj and Mirotic, this was a position the Bulls didn’t need to upgrade. They BADLY need a perimeter player, and maybe they think they aren’t out on Melo yet. But assuming they don’t get Melo, they really need to think about rolling the dice on Lance.

I don’t want Luol Deng again. That shipped sailed, thanks for your time Luol, but I would rather see a new face then bringing him back.

And to the above poster, Brewer will be waived and Fredette is playing in Europe. So now, neither of them will have any impact on this team.

    Best case scenario:

    1. Rose/Hinrich

    2. Butler/Snell

    3. Melo/McDermott

    4. Gasol/Taj

    5. Noah

(Prob. won’t have $$ to sign Mirotic)

    2nd best case scenario:

    1. Rose/Hinrich

    2. Lance/Snell

    3. Butler/McDermott

    4. Gasol/Taj

    5. Noah

If you could get Mirotic there, great, either way, probably a legit contender short term especially if the Cavs don’t get Love

    Most likely scenario:

    1. Rose/Hinrich

    2. Butler/Snell

    3. McDermott/Bad Free Agent X

    4. Gasol/Mirotic

    5. Noah/Gibson

Still a contender to win East, contingent on Rose. If Rose somehow (fingers crossed) is awesome this season, the East could be wide open. He kills Kyrie, but I would still be pessmistic about that matchup.

And also, that last 2 scenarios still leave the possibility of an Augustine return open. he was good for them, and would be a nice guy to bring back. Good thing PGs don’t get paid like big men (or in the case of this offseason, bad perimeter players) or else someone would have already overpaid him.

I agree with the general sentiment of your post, despite the negging you received. Pau is an elite passer and good mid range jump shooter, but he’s deadly in the post.

Anyone who saw Gasol play in the London Olympics knows that is McHaleian with his array of up & unders along with his ability to roll off of both shoulders. The lane will be too clogged to show off these moves if he’s sharing the floor with Noah. Plus, Gasol truly cannot guard stretch fours at this point in his career.

Now, maybe you bring Gasol off the bench. That could be an interesting scenario. But as you mentioned, why not juice up the bench with a perimeter player? The Bulls are definitely better with Pau since he’ll put up points, just not sure if it was the move they needed.

I’m skeptical about the Bulls signing Lance just because he would command a lot of money. And if the experiment failed, then the Chicago would be stuck holding the bag of s**t. At least with Pau you know that he’ll play his role.

Lance would be an awful signing for the Bulls. He’s selfish, had a bad attitude and doesn’t work next to Rose. I think the Gasol move is brilliant. He has more left in the tank than he’s shown and it gives Chicago (assuming Mirotic comes over) arguably the best frontcourt in the NBA. The Cavs are the team to beat in the East right now. What’s their weakness? Their frontcourt! The Bulls still have room to pick someone else up too. I love the idea of bringing Deng back. The chemistry is there and he brings the 3 and D to the wing position they need. Someone tell me this team isn’t a title contender. Four legitimate starters + a decent Butler + a good bench.

    Rose/Hinrich

    Butler/Snell

    Deng/McDermott

    Gasol/Mirotic

    Noah/Gibson

Now it’d also be cool to see them get Melo but I just finding that so unlikely.

The problem with Deng isn’t he isn’t that good of a 3 shooter.

the other problem is, you can’t continue to have 4 guys who can’t dribble surrounding Rose. Stephenson is absolutely a huge risk, but at least he can break down a defense. He’s also 23 with a ton of upside. Gasol is fine, but I’m past the whole "chemistry" thing. This team got knocked out of the playoffs by Nene. I don’t care how hard they try I want them to roll the dice and try to get better. Thibs is a much better coach than Vogel, and I think he would do a better job with Lance. It’s also different when the Pg is the best player on the team while in Indiana the PG was a glorified bum. Stephenson wouldn’t seem as selfish on the Bulls.

its far from a perfect fit, but at least there’s upside. I also don’t think the Bulls have any interest in Deng at all.

This mean absolutely no way of getting Melo right? I still think, provided Derrick is healthy, they have the best top to bottom roster in the East. Man I just wish they could find a way to convince Anthony to sign though. That team would have a perfect balance of offense and defense.

Now I actually like Pau better in Cleveland.  He can score and rebound inside with a great post game.  He is also a good passer and can block some shots.  If the Cavs don’t go after Kevin Love then Pau is a good backup plan (with a lot less range).  Pau could back up Andy V at center OR start as a 7 foot power forward to match a team like the Spurs who ALSO start two 7 footers (as well as the Mavs).

Pau would complete a Cavs front line rotation of Andy V, TT, and Anthony Bennett.

And, what about this potential small ball lineup?  Kyrie Irving, Ray Allen, Andrew Wiggins, LeBron James, and Pau Gasol?

I know other teams have the inside track, but the Cavs need to make a move…

Noah and Gasol are among the best passers from the power forward/center position in the NBA, along with M Gasol.  The ball movement should be very good, and if McDermott is open from outside the offense will really work, and a healthy Rose will have lots of open lanes to attack the basket.

Assuming Boozer is amnestied, where does he go?  Thunder could use a scorer off the bench.
