SpacegrassParticipantDidn’t see this coming. No way he leaves Dallas right? If Houston did a big 3 of Harden , Howard , and Dirk that would be offensively imposing. Still not sure if enough defense to win it all if it happened? Either way it’s interesting with these two teams recent FA history.

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantHaha, I almost wonder if this is Houston giving a big middle finger to Cuban for the Parsons offer sheet

ProudGrandpaParticipantYeah, Dwight Howard is shit on defense

NeggedNoelSaricI put all 4 up there for a reason we both know howard is a dpoy ….stop it.
we know Houston is weak on d even if they had a dpoy its a team effort. he didnt want a dpoy on this Houston team for sure. stop it grandpa I think you need your meds I wouldn’t be so proud with that comment.

ProudGrandpaParticipantJust saying, I know why you put Howard on that list, but just by virtue of him being on that list and being the defensive player that he is makes the Rockets at least a decent defensive unit.
And wow, another medication joke. Never heard one of those before…

SpacegrassParticipantDirk would be that proven crunch time go to scorer the Rockets lack.

he_gets_bucketsParticipantDirk isn’t ever leaving the Mavs. He’s gone on record saying that. The offer may be there, but he won’t sign the sheet. He knows if he wants to do more in Dallas in his final few years he has to take less, and I think he is fine with that.

TRC1991ParticipantDallas will remain a pretender instead of a contender until Dirk retires.

Oh wait.

OhCanada-ParticipantThats what people said before he won a championship. Find it funny that Kevin Garnett is thought of as one of the games most dedicated winners but Nowitzki is always overlooked. They both have one championships Nowitzki has played in almost as many playoff games in less playoff births. His scoring averages are elite while Garnetts are good. Rebounding is about the same and Garnett has a bit of an edge but not much with assists and defensive stats. Statistically speaking Dirk is the better player, when gauging wins Dirk has more consistancy as well. Also some of the shots Dirk makes when he is in the zone are inhuman. Garnett is great as well but Im just using that great player as an example to show how underrated Dirk is at times.

benny15ParticipantStatistically speaking, Kevin Garnet has been better in 5 of the 9 categories. has better numbers at blocks, steals, rebounds, assists and FG%. Dirk does have better scoring numbers, shooting percentages from down town and the free throw line and has avergaed less turn overs in his career. but unless you heavily value scoring numbers above defensive ones, id say Garnet has been better in his career statistically.
dirk is great in his own right though, one of the best offensive players the league has had. definitetly one of the more enjoyable players to watch since the turn of the century.

OhCanada-ParticipantChecked the stats and your right to a degree. Dirk averaged 25ppg on 46% and KG 18ppg on 47%. Dirks shot attempts were much more difficult and further away. KG beat him in rebounding by less then half a rebound a game. 1-assist per game more half a block and half a steal. Not that big of a difference when your getting 7ppg more and a guy that spreads the floor.
0- Posted on: Thu, 07/10/2014 - 6:03pm #934250
benny15Participantdirk averaged 22.5 ppg in his career, not 25, thats about 4 points more than kg. KG also average 49.7% FG and dirk 47.6%. KG beat dirk in rebounding by over 2 a game, 10.3 compared to 8.1. id say the difference of 1 assist, half a block and steal and 2 more boards as well as the defensive presence KG had trumps 4 PPG and spreading the floor a few feet more.

TRC1991ParticipantSorry what I meant was that Dallas will never put enough talent around Dirk for him to win again. Their window has shut

festar35ParticipantJust from the Rockets stand point I can kind of seeing them doing this to try force Bosh into a decision and make it look like they were willing to move on without him.

phwillParticipantDirk’s new contract hasn’t been signed yet, just a verbal agreement. I really don’t see him leaving Dallas though. It seems more like sour grapes from Morey that Dallas is screwing with his grand plans to bring in Bosh while retaining Parsons.

HitsterParticipantDirk and D12 would be a nightmare frontcourt match up but personally I doubt that Dirk leaves the Mavs after verbally agreeing an extension.
