festar35ParticipantGranted he struggled hugely in play offs and after All-Star break, but one consistent for him was his defense. There are not a lot of talent at the C spot at the moment from a defensive stand point and I am sure Larry will not just give him away, but if this happens we can offer Stephenson more and look for a more athletic C to play a faster game and let the youngs guys get out and run.
What sort of return do you think Indiana could potentially get?

christebasParticipantYou can’t offer Lance more $ unless you basically give Hibbert away which isn’t likely happening. If I’m the Pacers, there’s no way I trade Hibbert as he not only an all-star caliber Center, but a very bright individual who graduated from Georgetwown with a B.A. in Polictal Science. Not that his intellecutal abilities make him a better NBA player, but it surely will help him figure out what happened the second half of last year.. I suspect the graduation rate for NBAers is in the single digits.
We all know Hibbert had a bad second half of the season and he needs to figure out what was holding him back. He has all the physical tools as he’s proven that time and time again over the last few years. However, something emtionally was bothering him I suspect. Who knows exactly what, but it’s even silly to guess. I highly doubt he’s being shopped, especially to give MORE MONEY to that lunatic Lance Stephenson 5/45 is a huge gamble.
My sense is Hibbet will figure out what’s wrong with him and be back to his old self consistently. I think we can take the last 6 months of the season and toss them in the can giving Hibbert a fresh start and an opportunity to earn the final 30mil in his contract. Players at his age don’t just all of a sudden lose all of their physical abilities. I’m sure his issues are very complex.
As for Lance, I wouldn’t pay him a penny over the 5/45 deal that was offered. He’s only survived in Indy because of the ‘tough love’ support system built around him by David West, Larry Bird etc. Not only did Lance have everything to play for in the conference finals, but he also was becoming an unrestricted FA after the season. Knowing that, he was still behaving erraticly blowing in Lebron’s ear and other antics that only hurt his market value. He’s looked upon as most GM’s as the next coming of JR Smith. Lance not only does bone-head things on the court, but he’s a bad teamate as well (after he didn’t get voted on the allstar team he did some unwelcomed things to the team). While he’s got incredible talent his emotional balance on and off the court seems to be out of wack. Who knows, Dallas or the Hornets might offer him more money but unless he has a rigid group around him to keep him in check, he could be a team destroyer.

UnbiasedObserverParticipantThe ONE team that needs Hibbert the most is Boston. They literally do not have a SINGLE guy over 7 feet that can guard the rim. Vitor Faverani is NOT a rim protector. Celtics need size, and fast. Better get on the phone with Pacers brass Mr. Ainge

r377ParticipantI think Hibbert bounces back. I am not sure what was wrong with him, it may be something mental. He may bounce back and have a good season. I think they should keep him.
If they were to trade him maybe Dieng, Larry Sanders, Pekovic, Gortat (unlikely) Deandre Jordan or Robin Lopez. I know Portland where keen on Hibbert a season or two back. These guys contracts are all cheaper than Hibbert’s….

GrandmamaParticipantBasically no chance they could get Pek, Gortat, or Jordan in return. Larry Sanders contract is awful so no reason to trade for him. No reason for the Wolves to give up on Dieng for Hibbert. Robin Lopez is the only possibility you listed, but that’s essentially trading 4 quarters for a dollar.
Hibbert isn’t a prime candidate to bounce back either. He’s so mentally weak, and his game has regressed. Nothing he has done over the last 6 months says anything about bouncing back.
I wouldn’t touch Hibbert if I were another team, unless Indiana’s asking price is super low.
