Mr. HookShotParticipantJust read the report about the Lakers being a legitimate option for Carmelo to sign as a FA. If he will do so, Gasol will follow suit immediately I think considering he would like to stay with the Lakers as long as they are competitive. This would suddenly give the Lakers a very dangerous team actually, boasting the following starting five.
PG (Farmar?) – Bryant – Anthony – Randle – Gasol
They need to bring in some additional help, first of all a above-average PG (Farmar is a very good option here, considering he is an underrated defender and does not need the ball as much as most PGs). Then they need to bring in some help from the bench, which will come from Young (same story as Gasol about reasons to sign). They have Marshall as a passing PG to lead the second unit, maybe they can retain Hill to give them Marshall-Clarkson-Young-Hill-Sacre as their bench.

3 No Biases 3ParticipantThis team could actually be dangerous. They wont ever be favorites for the finals but they would be capable to make a run with a decent bench and coach. If Bryant comes back healthy and Carmelo defers enough I think Randle and Gasol compliment them perfectly. Would be a fun team to watch.

phwillParticipantthe Lakers are in the lead to get Isaiah Thomas as a RFA. I’d imagine they could slot him in as a starter at pg.

OhCanada-ParticipantI just dont see this happening after the Dwight failure and uncertainty of Kobe’s health/productivity at this age and or willingness to pass the torch to Melo. Theres so many better options for Melo. If it were me Chicago and Phoenix would be tier one although Melo may not want to be in Phoenix with all those youngins. Houston and Dallas would be next up with Dallas as probally the most championship ready team other then Chicago. Then New York who obviously can offer the full max and LA as the third tier. Thats just me though.

Ahkasi ClayParticipantAs a unabashed Laker Hater I hope the Lakers give him a max contract for as long as possible.
Continue the mediocrity!
