Before the draft no one was sure were Kyle Anderson would be selected. Despite his biggest question mark, his athleticism, standing 6"9, being so skilled and putting up big numbers while running the point for UCLA made him a really intriguing prospect. A couple people had him late lotto, most had him mid to late first round. He ended up being selected with the final pick in the first round by none other than the reigning champion San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs are famous for having an eye for guys with talent, often later in the draft, and devolping them into very nice players. I don’t think Kyle Anderson could have ended up on a better team in hopes of having a long NBA career. It’s going to be interesting to see how he progresses in S.A. under Pop and company. It’s also really going benefit him having Borris Diaw as a teammate considering there games are similar.

diaw may not be coming back and the drafting of Anderson makes me think even more that diaw wont be back im a huge spurs fan and id love too have diaw back he was vital in winning the title but the drafting of Anderson made it seem too me he wont be brought back if diaw doesn’t come back Anderson will be receiving big minutes and imo hell play very well really want diaw back but the drafting of Anderson too replace him makes sense

The Spurs have basically been picking at the end of the first round for the last decade and a half because they’re always good. Any player theySpurs pick immediately has a chance to learn from one of the all-time great coaches, play for a championship and come in and contribute immediately.

Kyle will be Pop’s little pet project. While he’s 6’9 230 the size of a four he has the mentality, court vision and passing ability of a pure point guard and the handles of a point guard. He’s more Jalen Rose meets Andre Miller than Boris Diaw because Diaw was athletic before he spend most of his checks on Big Mac meals and is still very quick for his size. I think Pop is gonna try to turn him into Hedo. If he can continue to improve us jump shot all around(mid range and 3 point) and trim that 13% body fat to at least 7 or 8 if will make his transition easier. He’s also a Team first guy and pass first player so I’m sure Pop likes about him. I hope he surprises people and sneak into the rotation.

One of my favorite things coach Pop has said is that the Spurs draft guys who have "gotten over themselves." I think it says a lot about a prospect if he is drafted by this organization because he is not only skilled, but has a high level of character as well.

Will he eventually be the heir apparent to Tony Parker? I don’t think Pop is sold on Cory Joseph and Patty Mills’ future is up in the air. I can see Pop using Anderson in various roles for the next two or three years, and when Parker retires in about three years, Anderson will be 23ish and ready to run the show and feed Kawhi.

    At age 35 and with a ton of rings, yeah, I think a nice cushy retirement to the south of France will look pretty good to Tony Parker. Some guys play till the wheels fall off and are willing to publicly decline with dwindling minutes and production, but Parker doesn’t seem like that kind of guy to me. Ginobili is 36 and averaged 12 points in 22 minutes this year. I don’t see Parker going that same route. But I could be wrong.
