There are reports saying that the nets have given j Kidd permission to talk to the bucks about a position after he asked to have more front office power and they rejected him. What is going on with them?

I saw this all over twitter. I guess with Van Gundy and Rivers being in complete control Kidd thought he was entitled to that as well for some reason. I used to love Jason Kidd but now I am starting to like him less and less.

So the nets rejected kidd’s request then gave him permission to talk to Milwaukee? This is a weird situation. Prokhorov can’t sell the nets fast enough

Aging starts, combative inexperience (albiet promising) coach, little to no young talent and no cap space.

But the team is in a state that breaths basketball. Eventually this team will be one of the best teams to own.

I would also want more control of a team if so far they had given me a luxury tax payroll full of almost retirees and a floor leader who struggles to stay on the floor.

Ultimately coaches get judged on wins and losses and the team as is; you would think is not going to win more games next year than they did this year.

It’s a tough situation because as a business owner you don’t want your employees telling you what to do but as a coach you don’t want to leave all the basketball devissions to a guy with decades less experience than you.

If Kidd has tried to make a power play then it is unwise to do it with a wealthy Russian owner who is apparently backing Billy King. If Kidd is unhappy with his contract given that Derek Fisher and Steve Kerr got bigger deals then it is pure greed and if he wanted a position of power like SVG and Doc Rivers have recently got then he has to consider that they are vastly experienced coaches compared to him.

Whatever we think of Billy King he has been doing what his owners wanted trying to build a successful team ASAP. The Nets have mortgaged their future by giving up several picks to Boston for what is now a free agent Paul Pierce and one year on a 38 year old Kevin Garnett’s contract. We don’t know what effect Kidd’s departure will have on whether PP returns or whether KG may now decide to retire especially if PP doesn’t return or also retires.

The Bucks may well look at Kidd as a President of Basketball Operations but would he just want a desk job at a relatively young age and I could see him wanting to return to the bench in due course especially with the likes of Jabari and the Greek Freak to work with. So I’d guess Larry Drew’s days might be numbered. GM John Hammod may be a bit safer especially as he has drafted fairly well in recent years and Kidd would probably want an experienced guy to run the day to day front office especially if he took on the coaching reigns.

Back to the Nets, I’d guess Mark Jackson would be an obvious choice also the likes of Lionel Hollins and maybe George Karl might be in the frame if a proven coach is prefered.

I’m no fan of B King as a basketball mind. His moves have been okay and partly successful just because he has been given a mamoth payroll to work with. Is SDot his best acquisition on a price per performance basis? And didn’t Kidd have a lot to do with that?

So I don’t mind Kidd thinking BKing isn’t great. But Kidd can’t just throw a hissy fit to the Net owners. If BKing has their support then you have to deal with that. Being insulted by the Kerr and Fisher salaries is also a lame thing to be upset about.

Sad and disfunctional day for the Nets. Also I’m very worried that we end up with a worse coach than Kidd. I do think he really understands basketball and how to win basketball games. We might end up with Mark Jackson. Ugh.

He should have known that going in, but Billy King is awful for a GM especially when you figure in that the guy is given the ok to buy picks and spend like crazy. I could only imagine what some of these GMs could pull off if their owners let them spend into the tax and beyond.

From the business side, I guarantee that team is worth way more than Prokorov paid for it now.

Larry + Ersan for Brook and Teletovic I believe is what was reported.

And I would imagine he would want to keep Larry, which I think Milwaukee would prefer for now anyways unless they got an offer they couldn’t refuse.

The bizarre part is that Brooklyn is demanding compensation for another team to come in and clean up their mess lol.  If they get anything more than 1 2nd round pick, Milwaukee should be ashamed.  If they give up a 2nd round pick, it should be the one that they just acquired from Brooklyn on draft night.

You’ve got it backwards. Kidd wanted Sanders on the Nets, hence his suggested trade. So if he joins the Bucks, presumably he will want Sanders to stay on the Bucks.

It wouldn’t surprise me if he leaves the Nets for the Bucks. We just saw Mark Jackson ousted in GSW after what seemed like team success. But he was ousted because of a falling out of personell not of success. Now J-Kidd is having those same kind of problems in Brooklyn. Not to criticisize anything, but he did demote his highest paid assistant, Lawrence Frank, this past season because of a personality clash. Maybe that too will have some sway in the final decision?

If the Nets don’t start winning more games and having more successful season instead of just one, and if Mikhail Prokorov keeps having to hire new coaches left and right, we could be looking at the Nets being sold! Possibly a move of conferences to Seattle?

Suggesting that the Nets are going to leave Brooklyn because they’ve only had two 45+ win seasons has to be one of the stupidest things I’ve read on this forum. The agrena is packed most nights, the arena is one of the best in the league located in one of the best locations for mass transit in the world, a fantasic training facility is in the works, the television contract will play to one of the biggest markets in the US, and the brand is gaining world wide recognition. But let’s blow it up and move it to a much smaller market. Sure that makes sense.

Now the Nets might get sold, though it would be for some something north of a billion dollars based on the Clippers sale. But why in the world would someone buy the Brooklyn team just to have a franchise that they are going to move to Seattle. If you just want a franchise to move, far easier to offer much less cash to the owner of a small market team and then move it. If Proky wants to sell (and there is no indication of that) then it will be because he wants the money for other investments. But for now, I’m quite confident he loves having a huge asset located in the U.S. where it is much harder for Putin to get his hands on. Getting their money off shore and out of Russia is something that all the Oligarchs want to do. Proky hit a freaking grand slam with this investment. He might cash out, but that billion dollar decision isn’t going to be based on who the coach of the team is.

The Nets got a new Arena so I’d doubt very much the team would be moved. These rich Russian owners will always demand instant results and will pay whatever, move on coaches if they don’t do the business.

I’d be interested to see what sort of compensation the Nets look to get for Kidd. The rights to Bucks 31st or 36th pick this year would seem reasonable to me.

If the Bucks did want to ship Sanders then I did wonder if KG decided to retire they did a straight up trade. The Nets get a young big and KG bows out so the Bucks save a load of salary. But it looks like Kidd likes Sanders so that may not happen.
