Lotto StudParticipantThe Pelicans refused to play him still after killin’ it in the D-League. Yesterday they traded him for Russ Smith who isn’t the player Jackson is. I’m pleased to see Jackson go to a rebuilding team to make his mark.

burgessfourParticipantthat right. One thing (among many) the Sixers need is a guy that can score in bunches, and he can.

OhCanada-ParticipantHis hieght/length, defensive potential, and abillity to finish under the rim and shoot contested shots.
I think he will make an excellent backup PG in the league for a longtime. In philly next to MCW he may even be able to start and play off the ball offensively and on the ball defensively with MCW handling PG duties offensively and gaurding SG’s defensively. Can potentially play an Isaiah Thomas type role as well.

MisterMordenParticipantThen how does Tony Wroten fit into all this?

MisterMordenParticipantActually you have to find time for Jordan McRae too. I can envision a four guard rotation of MCW, Tony Wroten, Pierre Jackson, and Jordan McRae. So, I guess we’re pretty set in the backcourt, for now.

ConezdParticipantIf that’s your 4 gaurd rotation, you’re not set. That’s a very weak gaurd rotation unless all 4 max out their potential very soon. I really like MCW, PJ and Wroten a lot. But they are young and have some developing to do. They’ll be a fun bunch to play with in 2k15 though.

MisterMordenParticipantWe’re not looking to win next season, genius. I meant that’s a good group of guards to enjoy watching for another tanking season.

MisterMordenParticipantIgoudala 2.0 and the Human Pogo Stick will also be really fun to watch too. I really can’t wait till the season starts.

McDunkinIt makes no sense he and Russ are pretty much carbon copies. Either way Pierre has earned his shot.

JoeWolf1I like his chances to make Philly’s roster as Casper Ware was able to find minutes for the 6ers abismal roster last season, but as much as Pierre Jackson is a fun guy to root for and a the classic sub 6 foot underdog, I’m going to be 100% real here.
He is an explosive scorer, who, at best, could potentially carve out a career similar to John Lucas III ( An impact comparison, not a direct game comparison ) but he’s a combo who’s 5’10.5” in shoes with a T-Rex wingspan. I love the D-League, and think it’s a great tool for the NBA, but I feel there is a disconnect as to what kind of competition lies in the NBA’s minor league.
Kevin Murphy averaged 25.5 ppg, Devin Ebanks 23 ppg, and Frank Gaines 22.4 ppg. Forgotten name and poor man’s Oliver Miller, Tiny Gallon, was a 19 and 9 player in Delaware last year.
It’d be one thing if Pierre Jackson was a guy who left to early, like Grant Jarret, who dropping 15.1 ppg for the 66ers, it’s a nice sign after a pretty ho – hum freshman year at Arizona, but Pierre is almost 23 and should be putting up big numbers in the D-Leauge. Yes 29 ppg is an impressive stat, but guys that shoot 22.6 times per game usually put up some points. 34% shooter from deep 4 Turnovers to only 6 assists, he’s the guy who you throw in during the 2nd quarter for 3 minutes and if he’s hot you keep him in, and if he’s off he sits the rest of the game.
Does Pierre deserve a shot in the NBA? Yes, I feel like he is a pro player, but an end of the bench combo. He didn’t play for NO last year because Brian Robertss is better in an NBA system because of his size and pick and roll ability, and they paid Austin Rivers a rookie scale contract and they didn’t want to give up on their investment.
Not trying to hate on Pierre, I watched a ton of Big 12 ball during his 2 years at Baylor and I know he can do some things that could help a pro team, but Russ Smith is a similar, but better prospect. I think he can play for the 76ers next year, but I’d be shocked if he averaged more than 7 ppg on any pro season.

burgessfourParticipantYou are exactly right. Pierre is a guy you put in and if he’s hot you keep him in. If not, you take him out and put Wroten in and see if he has it that night. Chances are only one of Jackson/Wroten will still be on the roster when (if?) the Sixers get good again.

drice4life1753ParticipantPierre Jackson is not taking Tony Wroten’s spot on the roster. Maybe Wroten gets moved (still unlikely), but no way PJ is taking Wroten’s minutes. He flashed immense potential last season, which is why he was a first round pick for Memphis. I can’t remember if he was drafted before Hollinger came on in Memphis or not, but he was shipped out quickly….his only problem is from an effiecncy standpoint (right now at least) he is terrifying. If he could improve his jump shot, which is very realistic bein 21 w/ 2 years experience already, he could be a stud.
