GrandmamaParticipantDoug McDermott – I’ve probably said this 100 times on this site, but you need to surround Rose with shooting. McBuckets is an elite shooter, and will help space the floor for the Bulls.
Shabazz Napier – Great move by the Heat to bring in Napier. Great shooter, tough and gritty defender. He will help space the floor for Lebron. Plus Lebron loves Napier’s game, so there’s more incentive for Lebron to stay in Miami. He’s better than Chalmers and Cole, and should start from day one.
Elfrid Payton – I love pairing him with Oladipo. Now Oladipo can play his true position, which is SG. It also gives Orlando two dynamic defenders at PG and SG.
Kyle Anderson – When he fell to the Spurs, I knew they’d take him. Perfect guy for their system, great passer, great team player. I compared him to Boris Diaw ala 2006, and we all saw how valuable Diaw was to the Spurs this year.

TenSecondTomParticipantPayton; only because they could’ve had Exum and Šarić and saved themselves a future first round pick. I really don’t see Gordon panning out with the expectations of a 4th overall pick and would’ve loved to see Exum and Oladipo in a backcourt. Bogdanović to Suns was a great stash pick imo as well.

TenSecondTomParticipantNvm I forgot Philly was literally about to pick Šarić 10th until Orlando pulled the trigger on the deal so they wouldn’t have had a shot at him for no. 12 anyway. Still would’ve been awesome to see Exum with Dipo though.

frogmanParticipantAnyone else worried that Orlando will be like Detroit from last year? If the starting lineup is Payton, Oladipo, Harris, Gordon and Vucevic I have no idea who is going to stretch the defence.

SwatLakeCityParticipantYes, I do worry about that. I like the Gordon pick, but I think he should have gone lower like 5, 6, or 8 instead. I think Gordon will work out in the end because of his incredible confidence. He uses his terrific athleticism on defense, which I love most about him by the way, while Griffin uses his on offense. I am a little worried about the shooting with Payton, Oladipo, Harris, and Gordon but on the plus side, I’ve heard that his shot is improving. He shot the ball very well in Salt Lake City and apparently in Orlando too (otherwise the Magic wouldn’t have selected him at 4). I don’t think he will be a career 48.9% percent free throw shooter. His free throw shooting will definitely improve. I’m excited to see the athleticism of Blake Griffin in the East. I think the Magic actually selected Gordon with Griffin in mind. No doubt they wanted to pair Gordon’s incredible athleticism to Griffin’s in the West.
I also think that if the Magic would have selected Exum at 4 instead of Gordon, the Jazz would have picked up Gordon at 5. I think those two picks had very similar thought process as the Milwaukee and Cleveland picks at 1 and 2. (Milwaukee was rumored to go either Parker or Wiggins all along, who ever the Cavs did not select. Cavs were debating back and forth betweeen the two for quite awhile and ended up going withh Wiggins in the end leaving the Bucks to get their guy in Parker.) Same with the Jazz and Magic. Jazz were debating yesterday, today, and probably before yesterday too back and forth between Gordon and Exum. Decided to pick Gordon if available, but then quickly changed their minds to Exum when Gordon was selected one pick earlier by the Magic. And we all know the Magic were debating about selecting Exum at 4 or going big by selecting Vonleh or Gordon instead and a PG at 12. It sounds like the Magic were deciding between Exum and Gordon in the end and went with Gordon opting for the big at 4 and the PG at 12, what I thought they would do all along (Just didn’t think Gordon would be the big, I thought it would be Embiid if he slipped or Vonleh)
In the end, I, as a huge Jazz fan, am ECSTATIC the Magic opted for Gordon over Exum. That allowed us to get Exum at 5. What a great pick for the Jazz. Now they have their future star, which is what they wanted all along out of this draft. Not very many people thought we would get a star in this draft with the 5th pick, but I did. (Just didn’t think it Exum would be that star)

XYRYXParticipantYep that came to my mind too. Another thing I still wonder about is what the Magic want to do now with all their cap space after dealing Afflalo to the Nuggets. Do they think they are a major player for Melo, Bron or even for a K-Love trade now?
Most likely they just go to do nothing very relevant with their money but the first thing that came to my mind when I saw the Denver trade was that they are clearing cap space.

SwatLakeCityParticipantThe Jazz selecting Exum and Hood at 5 and 23 respectively. Now the Jazz have their future star in Exum, which is what they wanted all along with this draf. And they got a great backup to Hayward, possibly future 6th man in Hood. I wanted Hood all along over Early, McDaniels and even GR3, I just didn’t think he’d be available at 23. I thought he would have gone 18 instead, but I am glad he slipped to the Jazz.
Jazz starting lineup next year: Burke, Exum, Hayward, Favors, Kanter. Burks will come off the bench as the Jazz’s 6th man and back up Exum and/or Burke.
Then mid season the Jazz opt to make a change in the starting lineup for more scoring, defense, bigger lineup, and to really frustrate opponenets in the backcourt and decide to move Burks into the starting lineup. Mid season I predict the Jazz will change the starting lineup to be Exum, Burks, Hayward, Favors, Kanter, and use Hood off the bench as their sixth man backing up Hayward.
And of course in the fourth quarter for crunch time Jazz re-insert Burke into the lineup for Burks and they have him Trey’s clutch play late in the fourth for when they need it for those close games. Fourth quarter/crunch time linuep: Burke, Exum, Hayward, Favors, and Kanter.
There were other nice fits that teams selected in this draft like the ones the OP mentioned, but I think he forgot this one. There are others too that I think he forgot to mention as well. But I just had to give a shoutout to my Jazz for nailing their picks in selecting Exum and Hood.

Jester87ParticipantI thought Milwaukee and Philadelphia were the two best teams for Jabari. Now he’ll likely be their go to guy on offense and they can play him at 4 to hide him on defense with Giannis guarding wings on lineups that are both fast and big thanks to Giannis freakish size and length.
Also the Lakers were probably the best team for Randle. I’m pretty sure he’s been overscouted and he can be better in the Nba, the paint was too crowded at Kentucky and the spacings were horrible, plus Harrison brothers weren’t exactly the best playmakers in the world. If you go and watch some of his tapes, when he was finishing at the rim he had often to do that with 3 opponents surrounding him. He’s not the most explosive leaper in the world, but it’s hard to have good % at the rim under those circumstances. The Lakers have holes at basically any position, so he can make an impact from the get go and they did the right thing going BPA.
I like Chicago for McDermott. He’s probably not going to start, and he’ll have to learn all of Thibodeau defensive schemes and principles, but I’m pretty sure he can do that. And they needed a shooter.
I like Atlanta for Payne, well, I was super high on him so probably I would’ve liked pretty much any destination, but the Hawks are trying to build the Spurs 2.0, with even more shooting and Payne fits perfectly. He’s probably already a better shooter than Mike Scott so I won’t be surprised if he gets good minutes immediately (though his defensive shortcomings might hurt him some).
Kyle Anderson, I was always skeptic on him as a prospect, but if there’s a team in which he might flourish that team is San Antonio. I think he’ll have to change a lot of things in his game and work hard, because he’s always been a ball dominant player while the Spurs base their game on ball movement. But Popovich has a soft spot for good passer with great IQ and fundamentally sound, so if he can mold Anderson’s game to make it work in their system, then Slo-Mo can fulfill his potential.

BallinmvpParticipantI’m happy for the bucks, they get a go to guy and I like the fit. I like exum in Utah. I even like Gordon in Orlando, they will better defensively and Gordon is going to give Orlando defense, athleticism, hustle, and he is a good passer. He will grow offensively and I think Orlando will love the pick. Gary Harris in Denver is a perfect fit. PJ Hairston to the hornets and Julius randle to the lakers are good fits too.
