Tonight’s draft has shown me two things that Sam Hinkie is a smart GM and that the 76ers are in no rush to win. Drafting Joel Embiid (assuming he will be fully healthy) and drafting Elfrid Payton then trading him for Dario Saric (who won’t come over for at least two years), a future first round pick, and future second round pick are smart long term moves but don’t make the 76ers better right now likely.

There is a good chance that the 76ers sit Embiid all year like they sat Nerlens Noel this past year and Saric won’t play for likely two years ensures the 76ers will be a lottery team again especially if they don’t sign anyone notable in free agency. I like the choices, but it shows the 76ers aren’t in any rush to get better immediately.

Sixers fans how do you feel about Hinkie’s job so far tonight?

Bee long rebuild for sixers, if they are patient and everybody reaches their peaks then they could be a good team in 2-3 years.

Smart. Very, very smart moves. Embiid has the most potential of anyone. This Grant pick is another good one, a guy who can defend, rebound and run. Can’t shoot a lick but he can work on it.

I would have liked to get vonleh even tho im not big on him but from the things im hearing I would have took him 10th.
    I like the saric stash.

but this is a long rebuild if embiid lives up to atleast halfway (serge ibaka instead of hakeem ) or surpasses expectation we come out the best.

It’s just a stress fracture.  They will wait till he is 110% but it doesn’t take 10 months to recover from a stress fracture unlike an ACL.  When he is ready to go the 76ers would be stupid not to give him some minutes.

I guess if you have the Heat in your conference you can try to be a good team like Pacers, Hawks or Nets.  In reality your getting knocked out sometime before or during the Eastern finals.  So, why not keep your team losing like the 76ers.  They will continue to build a loser team until they really get lucky and get that superstar in the draft.  Really hate this ability in the draft to stay bad until you get your "King James" or "Shaq" of the draft.  Keeps all the other building teams from the better prospects.  Does make sense though from a tatical standpoint but really cant stand it!

Can’t fault the Embiid pick, but the Saric pick has me shaking my head.  I feel a rebuild is about developing players and acquiring assets.  They got the asset part down, but what about developing players?  Would have liked to see them grab a player like Gary Harris at 12.  I just have this feeling you may never see Saric play in the NBA.  I did love what they did in the second round, really couldn’t have asked for more.
