d-grizzlyParticipantTo begin with, I think Wade will take a 3 year contract that gives him around 10 million the first year, 12-14 million the second year, and 16 million his third year. I think Bosh will settle for a 4 year/56 million deal that has a player option. Lebron will come back for arouind 20 million a year for 5 years and a player option.
I think the Heat will structure Wade and Bosh’s contracts to take less upfront and more later. This will allow the Heat to have significant cap to play with for the first year and likely have some burden in the second year, and punishing tax burden by the third and fourth years. However, Mickey will make all that money up over the next two years if the Heat get back to their winning ways.
The Heat were beaten up at every position in the finals. I think they’ll add strength, very good defenders, speed, athleticism, and passers to the team. They’ll figure the PG spot out for sure. I think it’s about adding depth at the 2 and 3 spots. The Heat do not need a legit center to win. They need rebounders and real defenders at the 4 and 5 though. Haslem cannot be relied on for long periods of time. Birdman is a hustle points man, not a post defender. Birdman will not be with the Heat next year.
Lastly, Spoelstra needs to adopt a new offensive system. The lack of passing killed the Heat against Dallas and it for sure killed the Heat’s offensive power against the Spurs. You cannot rely on fastbreak scoring to win a finals against a real team like the Spurs. The Heat’s conditioning needs to be checked into as well. They looked gassed every game.

The Heat made it to the finals 4 straight years and won 2 of them…there must not be many "real teams" in the NBA.
I know we live in a very prisoner of the moment society, but the Heat lost in the Finals. They aren’t a lottery team that has all these flaws. If Lebron comes back, they probably make the finals again. Its that simple. You cant guarantee a championship, but having that roster basically guarentees that they get there.

he_gets_bucketsParticipantYou think they’ll add strength, very good defenders, speed, athleticism and passers to the team? Where exactly are they going to get these if they handing out the contracts you suggest to Bosh, Wade and Lebron, who even if they take less up front, would still leave the Heat with maybe 10 mil? Sure, people would probably take a pay cut to play with Lebron but you are not adding all of that if you are signing Bosh and Wade to such extravegant contracts.
And who exactly are they getting? Avery Bradley? Shawn Marion? Trevor Ariza? These are probably the best defenders out of the free agency class that are actually some what feasibly in the cap range for the heat to get with the contacts you suggest, and I dont see them going to the Heat. Maybe take a swing on Ed Davis for strength, but he has yet to show much. The free agency options are bleak if you give those contracts to Wade and Bosh, the Heat need to give a lot less money to them if they want a less than bleak future. They will always be in title contention with Lebron, but they wont be winning anything if Wade and Bosh are the only guys around him, who barely show up themselves
