I know parker is getting looped into the PF’s in some rankings and lists, but

Can somebody explain to me why Noah Vonleh is ranked so high?

    -Bad Team

-is athletic but for his hight and wingspan he should be showcasing this a lot more

-looks timid on the floor and awkward in his movements and shooting motion

-didnt really produce at a level people are expecting of other ‘potential’ picks

-I only ever see him being projected as a great pick and pop guy w great measurements

Can someone give me some of the strengths to this guys GAME that put him over Randle, Gordon, Payne, or even a TJ Warren?

People see a lot of Chris Bosh in him… I do too. But im not that high on him.. I think far and away Julius Randle is the best PF prospect. Its amazing that people have him going as far as the 10th pick.

Tom cream dosent really know how to use big men…numerous IU games I watched where noah would have five or fewer shot attempts for the whole game… For a team and coach that really didn’t showcase him a lot I thought he did a really good job  with the opportunity he had….IU was a mess this year, but without noah we would of been even worse

But Yogi did not look for Voneleh much. He was not much of a set up PG at all.

Humble, hard working, high character player who wants to be great with good size and great length. He is mobile, athletic, versatile, has good feet, and will be a good defender and rebounder in the league from day one. He can score inside and out.

I totally disagree with you on his "akward movement and shooting mechanics" I think his stroke is very fluid with good technique, and his shooting percenatge from deep reflects that.

"Timid" is one area that was a prior concern of mine while watching him throughout the season. He is still so young but I would have liked to seen him be more aggressive at times. "Get a little nasty in you" – Popovich. Vonleh might in a similar personality mold as Kawhi Leonard and I think being in the league and surround with all the great coaching he will learn to play with more of an edge when need be.

He might be my favorite player in the draft. Sticking with the Spurs theme, Duncan is a favorable comp if Vonleh becomes how great he truely desires to be. Best Power Forward Ever might be asking a bit much but I am huge fan. I think he would look great on that budding 76’ers team.

Thanks! Im from up-north and i guess they only really show the games with top-25 teams and what not.

I always felt like his jumper had a bit of hitch, and like his off-hand was really involved in the motion with the ball heavily on the left side of his head. Granted this is all from the footage i’ve seen which is the hs all-star circuit and some youtube tapes.

      Good explanation, sir.

And he isn’t the type of guy that would skip a workout with THE BOSTON CELTICS to meet with GQ Magazine to discuss fashion or the type of guy that is trying to hide injuries.

This sites twitter feed just included a quote from Vonleh who apparently is adamant he is a small forward. Of all the players ever selected in the lottery, sf/pf tweeners have got to have the highest rate of being a bust out of any group. Not saying Vonleh is going to be a bust, but I wonder if expectations of him by teams are different to those Vonleh has for himself. Id like to be sure on a player before making a selection if i were in charge. Its a big draft, you wouldnt want to mess this one up.

Measured out great at the combine but an overrated shooter in my opinion. I like him but I’m not putting him over Smart, Randle, or Gordon like everyone else is.

What is very telling I think is the interview the Jazz’s vice president of player personnel Walt Perrin gave after Vonleh’s training session with the Jazz(you can see it in the jazz site’s video section). I am not entirely sure but he seemed to talk about him like the guy they’d be taking if he’s still available at 5 and no trade for Jabari/Wiggins is made. At one point he slipped saying “We probably would… well, wherever he goes – you gotta work with his vertical”.

From what he said it seems like the Jazz assess his strengths to be:
    +Length, hands
    +Fluid shooting stroke
    +Variety of post moves
+Can play both inside and out…
+Defensive potential and rim protection(again, thanks to his size)
    +Runs the court extremely well

    More to be desired:
-Has to learn how to utilize his body better
-Has to work on quickness, strength, vertical
-Has to improve defense, but they like his potential there

He has it all.  Reason he is number one is that he has everything you look for in a PF.  Has ideal size, large wing span, huge hands, can shoot, he rebounds and he plays good D.  Came into the years as a project type player that was thought to need a few years to develop, instead he came along very fast.  Neither Randle or Gordon have close to the complete package that Vonleh does.
