Jazz are offering up Derrick Favors, Alec Burks, and No. 5 pick to Cavs for the No. 1 selection and Jarrett Jack.

    Got this from bleacher report.

    you don’t take it.
favors has yet to take it to the next level
I think parker will be the perfect fit for blatt a high iq team player who can score multiple ways ,command an opposing teams defensive strategy ,rebound ,block, steal, add good character to the locker room , be a leader .

favors and the 5th pick wouldn’t be worth that

the 5th picks bpa are all pf,and pgs cavs need neither.

I hope to god thats not true. I was nervous enough at the thought of giving up Favors but Burks also makes me sick to my stomach. I hope the Cavs turn them down.

Also on Hoopshype.com where theyre reporting the Jazz staff are split on including Burks. I still don’t like the Cavs options at 5. They need to fill the SF position and the two who make the most sense are Rodney Hood (9) and Douggy Mcbuckets (14)

a huge offer. Cavs would have a ton of talent, just need another deal or 2 to balance it out a bit.

Utah – This is getting too crazy. First it was Burks and the 5th pick, then it was Favors and the 5th pick. Now its Favors, Burks and the 5th pick!!

That is just WAY too much to give up for a 19yo kid that has never even played in the NBA before….

This tell me one thing. Jabari’s less than impressive workout for the Cavs and the Embiid injury has them ready to deal out because they aren’t sold on Wiggins. Otherwise they would be taking him there instead of trying to deal down and also working out Dante Exum

about this. The Cavs do this deal, draft one of the PF’s with pick 5. So they have Kyrie, Favors, Randle/Vonleh/Gordon, they just need to trade 1 or 2 of Waitors, Burks, Bennett, Thompson for a SF. The Cavs could be pretty good real soon.

I agree that this type of a deal supports winning now, but I worry about what realistic SF options there are in trade. Hayward is still an option but you have to think Utah would match any offer if they are giving up a SG and a PF/C to the Cavs already. Depending on what big name players GS brings in I could see Barnes being an option. Seems unlikely Portland would deal Batum. Let’s face it, none of the big names are coming to Cleveland.

Burks kills it on 2k14 lol.

Anyway. That’s 2 starters and a top 5 pick. Pretty good haul for Cleveland actually.

Maybe they pick Smart at 5 and then deal Kyrie for a kings ransom. Who knows.

The Jazz are giving up a bit much. Favors, Burks, the 5th, and from what I’ve heard also the 23rd pick. And the only other player the Cavs are throwing in is Jack? I wish it was Tristan Thompson instead. That would be a fair deal.

I’m reading now that Alec Burks, the number 23 pick and/or a protected 1st rounder are sweetners.

So trade would be Favors and 5, I don’t take it, if i’m the Cavs.

But I must say I think Derrick Favors future is at the 5 and not the 4.

And just throwing this out there, if this trade does happen don’t be surprised if the Jazz take Wiggins instead of Parker. I know the whole being Mormon thing makes it seem like a sure thing, but from what I’ve heard it definitely isn’t.

That’s way too much for Utah to give up for Wiggins or Parker.  Favors has been getting better each and every year and Burk is just starting to come along.  I just don’t believe the Jazz would give up that much, I’m calling this report BS!

To the Cleveland fan that doesn’t like the trade due to PF and G.  You understand you’d be getting Favors right?  Slid him in at Center for the next ten years.  Very few if any players from this draft will give you more then favors will for the next few years if ever.  I just don’t see the Jazz trading their best player, yes I said best player!!!!

If the Jazz really put that on the table, it might make sense for the Cavs to make that deal.

Favors is a more than capable starting center who is still very young. He will immediately come in and add some toughness and defense in the lane. He averaged 13ppg, almost 9rpg, and 1.5bpg last season. Big men typically take longer to reach their peak, so there’s a huge chance that he will improve upon those numbers. He still hasn’t had a breakout year, but one could be coming very soon.

Alec Burks may be one of the more underrated players in the league. He’s athletic, can handle the ball, and he’s a pretty good shooter. I don’t want to sound redundant in talking about breakout years, but Burks may be due for one soon, as well.

    Plus the #5 pick.

The Cavs would still need a SF, and they could most likely find one on the trade market.

Way too much, Burks could be a 20ppg scorer himself soon. However there might be some truth to it. The Jazz GM said there were some "violent disagreements" this year between their brain trust.

shouldn’t worry too much about the lack of a SF (if this deal happens). There will be good SF’s available when they pick 33, plus they have plenty of other assets to move for an established SF or to get back into the second half of round 1.

If this trade goes through, and the Jazz draft Jabari….. they will be one of the most unathletic/poor defensive teams in the league.

    Picture this lineup:

Kanter in the middle, Jabari and Hayward on the wings, Burke playing point, and I guess Marvin Williams at the 4.

Good god. Current day Steve Nash could post up this lineup. Kendrick Perkins would have a career night! Amare could posterize ppl as if he had knees again!

the arguments that the Jazz would be giving up too much, and I don’t necessarily disagree.  However, how much winning are you going to do with the Burke-Favors-Kanter-Burks-5th pick core?  Even if Hayward is included in that core, how far can you go with that?  I think it’s at least worth considering making some sacrifices to try and acquire a potential star.

I don’t understand how everybody is so down on parker when hes so good and sure to succeed hes projected to go one to the cavs.

favors has yet to make an allstar team or nba all first anything.

and hes been in the league how many years now? I see parker accomplishing way more and pushing his team into the playoffs as a starter his rookie year.

big men take a long to develop true but not long to make an impact Drummond ,Deandre, davis, Demarcus have yet to reach their peak but the state lines and impact they make on games are ridicules.

parker will put up ridicules numbers his rookie year we all know this ridicules numbers his second year his entire career he will.
    sometimes less is more.
you can add one piece to go with what you need play it safe if you want a big go try to get one in free agency I like greg Monroe and don’t think the pistons will pay to much for him. greg also puts up better numbers and has a better all around talent then favors.

I don’t see why you you make that move for favors when you can go out and get a player who gives yoy favors production and really alec burc ? they have dion and irving even if they didn’t have dion they have irving burc isn’t a big time shooter and hes a ball heavy guard whos unproven really talk about chemistry issues.

for all that they can draft parker and target lance and greg Monroe not likely but im saying why take that deal when you want get a chance to get a player like parker anytime soon.
what superstar is coming to cle? when will they get another number 1 pick? you take parker and if you still want to you find a big and ball heavy guard somewhere else lol it wont be hard you have 2 young bigs on the bench already.

just don’t take a big and ball heavy guard from the jazz sweetener or not.

I like Parker, but he’s not Kevin Durant or Lebron James.  He’s not taking a lotty team to playoffs by himself his rookie year.  There are real question as to his position, body and defense.  Sure he might score 20 points a game as a rookie, but he might allow the players he defending to score 30 a night.  I compare him to Glenn Robinson.

I know that the Jazz are on the fence about giving up Burks in this deal, but if I’m Dennis Lindsey, I make this trade. It’s giving up two serviceable starters and a draft pick for a kid (it’s been reported that they’re after Wiggins, not Parker) that can be an absolute superstar. This is the whole point of being in "asset accumulation mode" since Deron Williams got traded. You go get a star. Do it. It make sense for both teams.

Makes absolutely no sense for the jazz, I get why the Cavs would do it. You only give up assets to get a star when your ready to contend and who knows if Jabari pans out. Entirely too much and if the jazz make this move, I no longer want anything to do with the general manager or any front office personell

I read about this on desnews (dot com) where they heard it from radio hosts (one a son of a former Jazz GM, so yah, not very reliable…).

At any rate, one this this article points out is that the Jazz want Wiggins not Parker.

I totally agree that Burks and Favors AND #5 are too much. I’d be okay with next year’s pick, so long as it was top 6 protected, and you know the jazz will be lotery bound next year too so it wil be a great pick.  But Burks and Favors is too much, and I’ve been the guy saying do whatever possible all along!!  I like Burks too much.  I think he has real star potential (not lead the team to the finals, but definate star potential).

Man, cleveland lucked out getting this pick.  Either way, they are going to be great for a while so long as they can pull the team together.  With assests like these being thrown at them, or if they keep the pick, they will be doing well…

Man, cleveland lucked out getting this pick.  Either way, they are going to be great for a while so long as they can pull the team together.  With assests like these being thrown at them, or if they keep the pick, they will be doing well…

Can you imagine if CLE takes that deal and Embiid slides down to 5?

That’d be a saucy lineup in 2015-16, provided Embiid comes back healthy.

I know my Jazz are offering a lot, but I believe they realize that Parker, being mormon, would be a superstar in the future that would be happy to spend his career in Utah… Do you believe Favors and Burks once their deals are done, would stay in Utah? I would have offered Hayward,,, He is going to cost a lot and I am not sure Burks cannot become a better player…

It’s much more important to just have a very competitive team to get players to stay. The Jazz would likely take Wiggins and count on that fact. Look at Carmelo, leaving his favorite city and all those endorsements simply because he wants to win.

Hayward isn’t on contract.  You can’t offer him, nor can you do a wink and a nod and trade him later.  That would result in a punishment from the NBA and the contract voided and Gordon walking free.  Even the deseretnews can’t seem to get this right at times.  Restricted Free Agents are not on contract and therefore aren’t with a team and therefore can’t be traded.  And until July 1, the Jazz, per league rules, can’t trade or talk to him.

Utah can’t dismantle his team to grab only Parker… If they did it, Jazz think to add some FA to fill holes that grab Jabari leaves…
