  I would much rather see if the bulls would give up Nikola Mirotic, Carlos Boozer, and the 16th and/or 19th pick for Carmelo. Not sure if they salaries match but this would give them some pieces to rebuild with and more cap space once boozer’s contract is up after this year.

  The way I see it, Taj Gibson is an upgrade at the 4 position and it allows the Magic to get a player with winning experience and culture. They also shed some major contracts so they can extend Nikola Vucevic. The Knicks get a real point guard and an expiring Boozer contract. They could also land a first rounder from Chicago if they so desired.
