I feel very strongly about this..  Been thinking about it for a long time.  Wade would be crazy to opt out.  How can someone in their right mind decline $40 million over 2 years?  Also, keep in mind that it is TAX FREE so it is actually that much.  He is broken and will likely never play another full season.  So he will most likely be getting paid to play close to 100 total games over that time period.

This will cause Heat fans to hate him but before they do, they need to understand that Wade didn’t draw up this contract. So when he takes the money that he agreed to take for his services, be sure to direct your hate a Pat Riley, who signed him to it..

Also, who could blame Wade?  Legacy is secure, body is broken, and tons of money is coming his way.  Put yourself in the same situation and 99.9% of people would take gladly take the money..

It’s not tax free, but overall I agree with you. He won the first title while on his rookie deal, so he definitely deserves to get paid.

I’m not 100% sure if it’s not tax free, but state of Florida doesn’t have income tax so I think that’s y he has tax free, some other states same thing or lower taxes too. I think New York one of the highest.

Completely agree, Wade would be a fool to opt out. I never thought for a moment he’d leave 40mil on the table to take less money. Still will be making less than Kobe. And though it’s true there is no state income tax in Florida but they still have to pay federal taxes.

I don’t see D-Wade opting out unless Miami were prepared to give him say a $70 million 4 year deal. D-Wade is a franchise legend and with his current deal taking him to 2016, that might be a good point when he looks to hang up his sneakers.

The only thing I can think of that could make Wade opt out is that he is friends with Bron and Bosh. Although Wade is nowhere near old Wade, I think he’d still like it if his best friends could continue to be great. The only way that happens is if Wade opts out so the Heat can sign free agents. Also, if he wouldn’t opt out, that would be a major dck move to Bosh and Bron.

Obviously Wade should take the money.  And if Heat fans hate him for it, they are ignorant and naive.

They did boo the heat during game 4 of the finals so ignorant and naive is pretty accurate

No one would blame D Wade for opting in and taking the money.

Just like no one can blame LeBron for leaving if he realizing paying that guys 40 million the next two years to be mediocre at best is not going to make improving the team very easy.
