Is it me or is Michael Jordan still raping the younger stupid generation with these insane prices? I’m 28 and I know all bout the shoe game with all these odd and stupid colors these younger kids 24 and younger never seen jordan play a minute. I can put on a classic jordan sneaker and remember how good of a game jordan played while wearing that shoe. Is Jordan more hype than actually paying an item for keep sakes? What the difference between a real collector and a sneaker head? After all this Jordan himself is making money laughing there kids getting killed just to look nice at a party or just to be seen! Jordans don’t make you a better person a fly person! Again I wear them because i loved his game and his shoes (orginal) mean something to me personally. What are your guys thoughts? Also Ray Allen and Nate Robinson has the sickest Jordan in game collection. Speak to me!

People wear J’s because they look cool. You don’t need a better reason than that.

If you want the newest Jordan sneakers you will pay a premium. Personally I grew up watching Jordan so I would rather have the classics and even better those are much cheaper than the new ones.  I think if you play bball you would want the newest but if your just out to make a fashion statement the older ones are much better looking.

I think the whole Jordan sneaker phenomena is completely ridiculous to be honest. I got a friend who has stacks of Jordan boxes with 200-300 dollar sneaker in each one. He’s never worn any of them and doesn’t plan to. They are a rip off no matter what way you slice it unless you’re planning to flip them for profit.

There have been a few players over the decades who were committed to enforcing cheap shoes. But you never hear about those sneakers. I’ve never understood the Jordan craze either. I have no problem spending good money on sneakers if I like them, but I’m not a Jordan fan so I immediately reject buying his product.

The only reason it’s becoming ridiculous is because they figured if you put out less shoes people will want it more…  That’s why you have people like my little cousin (whom never seen MJ play live) camp out in front of shoe stores to grab a pair.  In fact, not all shoe stores receive certain Jordans…  It’s a great business move by Nike and I’m with you, I totally hate it…

Before, you would just go to the shoe store around the time it opens and get the shoes you want.  If you wait too long they would be sold out of your size. Now, that shoe store might get 5-6 your size and are sold out…  If it’s a shoe that everyone wants, it’s going for at least double on Craigslist….  So, NO it’s not "cheaper" to get the retro’s if you can’t ‘get’ the retro’s without sleeping in line all night…  I normally just buy LeBron’s anyway…  No way I’m camping in front of a store to buy Jordan’s…  Some shoes I had 10+ years ago and came out 5 times already… Plus buying LeBron’s is $200…  You paying $250+ for the retro’s if you don’t camp out for them…

The Jordans I brought early 90s seems to be retro like 3x. Nike is making money it’s not that us cats 25 and over missed out it’s the hype beast nowadays these young kids don’t know. Speaking of lebrons real sneaker heads would be trying to get the zoom generations instead of these south beach 11

This thread is ridiculous. It’s a non issue. The shoes are worth what people will pay for them. If they’re 300$ and people want to buy them, that’s on them. It’s their money. The thought that anyone wears a pair of shoes strictly because another person wore them is absurd. If you say you wear them because they’re meaningful to you just because you watched Jordan play, you’re lying. You wear them because you like how they look or you think you look cool in them or you want people to be envious of you in them. Or, here’s a thought, maybe because they are comfortable and practical. (Which is most likely not the case since they are for playing basketball in, not for going to the club or walking in the mall.) Also, the term sneaker head has got to go. It implies only, that you have a sneaker for a head. There are terms for people who like, collect and desire things already.
