Put a question mark in the above comment.

I blame the phone.   If it is its fault or not.

Dante Exum refused a workout with Boston too. I really don’t like it when players do that.

My guess is that he wants to go to the Celtics or Lakers.  He doesn’t want to work out for Utah because he wants to fall to 6 or 7 and play for one of them.

they were talking about it today on the radio, they said the reason is he wants to play point and that probably wouldn’t happen in Utah with burke here. the jazz would want to move him to the 2.

He’s still #2 in a Laker uniform! As long as Kobe is there he will have to play off the ball a lot, because Kobe touches the ball more than any guard (PGs included).

Yeah but he doesn’t have to split minutes with anyone.  And Kobe is gone in 2 years.  Burke should be in Utah longer than that.  And let’s be honest, the city of Utah… Or anywhere else?

I’m not opposed to Smart declining a workout for any team that does not see him as a PG. This was the primary reason he chose to return to Oklahoma State. If a team cannot respect this than they never valued him from the start of his collegiate career. This scenario is no different than the QB prospect being looked over because they want to convert him into another position. I love Draft stories such as this to prove all the naysayers wrong.

I’m all for Team Smart in becoming a PG in this league. If one can respect Victor Oladipo’s progression throughout his Rookie campaign, then Smart deserves his fair shot as well. It’s not like he’s a experimental risk heading into his NBA career, Smart has experience under his belt especially enough heart to be a true leader.

Smart does not want to play behind Burke, pretty obvious.

Best of luck to him. But I’d rather have Vonleh anyways.

when the jazz traded for him Dennis Lindsey put extra emphasis on trey being the guy Corbin wanted most. Well Corbin is gone so now what? Do we not draft Smart if he is the BPA just because we have Burke do we see what trade value Burke has?Do you try and grow them together?  Dont get me wrong i like some things about trey (great leader, clutch, high a/to ratio, good free throw shooter) but there are some things he needs to improve (shooting%, ability to get in the lane, defense).

Should Exum happen to fall it would be the same thing with Exum from what i hear his game sounds alot like Alec Burks to me. but i cant say for sure i havent seen much on him. Other than 4 years of Exum will be alot cheaper than 4 years of Alec Burks.

@codyslc I am torn between Aaron Gordon and Vonleh but if the jazz follow past drafts Randle is the guy because he was on the losing side of the ncaa title game (Hayward and Burke).  At 23 if he is still available I like Cleanthony Early or GRIII.

Overall I think Trey Burke had a really good rookie season. PG is the hardest positron to learn, not to mention he didn’t have any star players to make his life any easier. No way do we draft a guy that doesn’t even want to work out of us and trade our young PG just to give him the reins at a position were we already have a serviceable player. And whats to say he will be any better than Trey? I see him more of a SG with play making ability anyways.

I think Gordon could be a really good player if he can develop a shot, or he could be another super athletic guy who never pans out because he cant hit a jumper. Its sort of scary because there happen to be a lot of those guys around. A fairly recent Jazz lotto pick that comes to mind is Ronnie Brewer. Not saying they are the same player at all, but Brewer had it all athletically but couldn’t hit a shot to save his life and now where is he? I think they need to go BPA which I believe would be Vonleh. Plus it would give the Jazz a really good young 3 big man rotation going forward.

Smart is a fckwit. He should be thankful someone wants to look at him. To me, he’s an undersized 2 playing the point that cant shoot. I dont know how that translates to the NBA.

Ill get ridiculous negs for this, and if im wrong, ill gladly suck it up. But, I watched a lot of his games and really, i dont get the hype. He’s got a poor attitude to top things off.  If i was running a losing team i wouldnt want to bring this guy in, betting my ass hes the one to change the culture and start winning. Fck him off.

Those negs are not for your opinion, considering more people (myself included) have pointed to the deficiencies in this game (bad shooting especially). Calling him a fckwit for not being able to shoot seems a little undue…

This kind of story is an nba draft fanboy’s dream lol. We thrive off it.

Some people don’t like the idea of players picking and choosing where to workout etc. But in my opinion that’s fair. Every spot he drops due to this strategy costs him big dollars as a consequence.

If I was a young baller I wouldn’t want to go live in Utah either. From what I’m told that place is boring as hell.

I’ve read he’s really helped out his stock, by workout out directly against other top PG prospects. It could also mean he has a promise at 4, 6, or 7…

Marcus Smart: Rajon Rondo one of the greatest point guards out there. Would be honor to play behind him. … He’s a pest – like me.

I think he ends up in Boston or LA, with Orlando being the wild card. All would be good fits, I think he could have a promise, or just not want to waste his time with a team that he doesn’t feel is a good fit.
