valentineI am so sick and tired of this overrated, no defense, poor shot selection, bad shooter, turnover machine being HYPED as a top PG..
These are the guys that i would put ahead of him (not in any order) and i dare anyone to make a case that i am wrong…
CP3
Rondo
Westbrook
D Rose
Conley
Steph
Lilliard
Jrue Holiday about Tied with Kyrie Marbury
Kyle Lowry
John Wall
Tony Parker
Goran
D Williams
Please explain why ppl think the 13th best PG is deserving of the attention he gets…cause he has good handle and is fancy maybe…but loses and rarely passes except when his is double teamed

he_gets_bucketsParticipantBad Shooter? Sure he isnt as elite as what he is hyped to be, but you are going so overboard on the overating train that you are underrating him. You are making him out to be a scrub. MCW is a much worse shooter, turns it over just as much and makes just as many head scratching plays. Shoots a worse percentage too, whilst also losing more games. All the other guys I think you can make an argument for, but MCW is worse in every catergory but defense so I think that is a massive slight on Kyrie. Yes he is overated, but he is still a good point guard, he just needs to develop more.

FutureNBAGMParticipantDeron Williams over Kyrie?? At least Kyrie knows how to stay healthy and in shape. Oh, and unlike DWill, Kyrie (most likely) hasnt reached his prime yet.

Detroit FanaddictParticipantHe’s missed 65 games in his 3 pro seasons and lets not mention college. I’m not saying D Will’s better, just saying they’re both pretty injury prone.

treytalkssports.comParticipantI want to look at your criteria for him being overhyped. 1) No defense – Players like Steph Curry and Damian Lillard, both of who you have on your list, are just as terrible on defense. 2) Poor shot selection – Westbrook and Holliday both have questionable shot selections. Besides, you shot selection looks a lot worse when the Mike Brown is coaching your offense. 3) Bad shooter – his shooting percentages were the worst of his short career this year, but were on par with the other top 10 scoring point guards in the NBA 4) Turnover machine – averaged less TO a game than Westbrook, Curry, and Wall, again, in Mike Brown’s offense.
As far as the players on your list, I’m better than present-day Deron Williams. Pretty sure anyone who can play two consecutive games without getting hurt would be.
Hot names like Lowry and Dragic are both coming off of career years, but there is some reason to believe they both might come back to earth a little bit next year. I would take Irving on talent over those two players, who both have 5 years of development on Irving at this point in their career. I may take Irving just because he is younger and has potential to be much better than those players.
I would def put him ahead of Holliday.
He would probably be 8 on my list, not 12. Honestly, though, one year next to Embiid and/or Lebron, and Irving could start looking a whole lot better.
In fact, on potential alone, its hard not to put him at 4.

MattP31ParticipantJust LOL here. Kyrie is a flawed player no doubt, but he’s a much better player than you are giving him credit for. I’m a Sixers fan and wouldn’t begin to say MCW is better than Kyrie

tidhoParticipantMarbury is neither a new, nor an inaccurate comparison.
I think the distinction needs to be made between talent and value. Kyrie is way more talented than most of the guys mentioned in this thread. I think unless you see him a lot you probably don’t realize some of the problems he has. There is a lot of things he needs to correct if he wants to ever be a guy that makes his teammates better.

GrandmamaParticipantMarbury was one of the most selfish players ever, and had a terrible bball IQ. I don’t see Kyrie being the same way.

theballerwayParticipanthe(Marbury) was selfish but he could definately pass the ball. Kyrie wishes he had Marburys assist numbers infact if he did we would betalking about him in a different light. Im suire he was over 8 ast/gm for most of his career before he lost it

Robb_CParticipantGet someone Kyrie can run a pick and roll with and a shooter when teams go over the top of the screens and you guys will see a totally different PG.. Its not that Kyrie is overrated he’s literally set up for failure in Cleveland I really dont blame him having a chip on his shoulder.

tidhoParticipantI think this is a common perception. I’m not sure how many games you watched but you might be interested to know that the team played better when undrafted rookie Mathhew Dellevadova was at PG than when Kyrie was. Its not that MD is anywhere near the talent that Kyrie is, its simply that he played team basketball. Kyrie’s issues aren’t the guys on the court with him, it the choices he makes while on the court.
