MattP31ParticipantJust saw a tweet from Chad Ford from last night that Embiid will go to Milwaukee to work out, also mentions the rest of the big four guys are visiting as well. I remember it being said that Embiid planned to only work out for Cavs if they got any kind of assurances plus all the rumors he didn’t want to work out for the Bucks.
Maybe I’m reading into this too much but to me this is very surprising.

FutureNBAGMParticipantHe would be a helluva upgrade over Sanders.

Toronto16ParticipantThat definitely means his work out with the Cavs didn’t go as well as expected.

tidhoParticipantBy all reports the work out with Cleveland went exceptionally well.
Its the medical evaluation that some are questioning.

MattP31ParticipantThat was my first thought. But then I started to think about it a little more and maybe it means that the workout was good but the Cavs weren’t ready to commit- I know they haven’t worked out Wiggins yet, and not sure about Parker. And with the general uncertainty around who to take #1, Embiid’s group decided to work out for the #2 team because if the Cavs like Wiggins or Parker better then other teams will be scared to take him minus the workout and physical.
Or option 3, which is the least likely to me but still a possibility- the Cavs told him to do this to try to scare the Sixers into giving up a lot to trade up for Wiggins.

Ebown5ParticipantI don’t think that there is any chance that the Cavs would try to get him to participate in something to put pressure on another team, and even if they did do that, he wouldn’t do it.
This obviously means that the Cavs have not committed to him yet, but as to what their thinking is, I have no idea.
I still think that they will end up taking him number 1, but I have to admit that I didn’t think that he was going to workout for other teams, and the fact that he now is shows some weakness in his position.
As a Sixers fan I think that this complicates our ability to get Wiggins. While I would want Embiid over the other two, I don’t think that he gets past the Bucks regardless. If the Cavs take Embiid then I think Wiggins falls to us. If they take Wiggins, then Parker falls to us.
I would be happy with any of the three, but I would prefer Wiggins to Parker.

vulture711ParticipantI would take any of the 3. Really – any of them are a signfificant upgrade and another steop in the right direction. I wouldn’t sweat it much or over complicate it. I’m not really interested in overpaying to get to 1 because I’d be just as happy to get one of them at 3 and still have 10 and Thad Young

AwrightAwrightAwrightParticipantI personally don’t think it’s a smokescreen by the Cavs anymore because they might still stand a chance of losing Embiid to Milwaukee at 2 if they (the Cavs) succeed in bamboozling the Sixers into giving them the both the 3rd and 10th picks.

Ebown5ParticipantI realize that there is a lot of BS floating around at this time as there should be. You don’t want anyone to know what you are thinking, but it is very possible to get too cute if you aren’t careful.
If the Cavs think that Embiid is the best player for them then they should posture all that they want, but select him number 1 in the end. If they trade with the Sixers and hope that they can still get Embiid at 3 then they are playing with fire. The Bucks are working him out this week which means that they will have access to his medical records as well.
If they are clean, as I suspect, then the Bucks won’t pass on him at 2. The only reason that you would make the trade from the Cavs perspective would be if you are ok with Parker at 3 because that is who you will end up with.
As a Sixers fan, I would only be willing to trade 3 and 10 if it meant that we could take Embiid. I certainly wouldn’t do it for Wiggins.
I am totally guessing here, but I think that the top four plays out in one of two ways.
1. Cavs take Embiid
2. Bucks take Parker
3. Sixers take Wiggins
4. Magic take Exum or Smart
OR
1. Cavs take Embiid
2. Magic takes Wiggins (Bucks trade down to 4)
3. Sixers take Parker
4. Bucks take Exum
If the Bucks can’t get Embiid, would they be willing to take 4 and 12 for Wiggins, or would they just stand pat and take Parker at 2?
The Bucks are really in a great spot here, and so are the Sixers, but it will depend on what the Cavs do. The Cavs control the draft and that is the benefit of holding the number 1 pick.
