AwrightAwrightAwrightParticipantWho does Cleananthony Early remind you of ? For me, the more I watch his clips, the more I think that if the Celts draft him somehow, then he’ll be their next Antoine Walker. Anyone agrees ?

AwrightAwrightAwrightParticipantBut, a lot of people think if he falls to the 2nd round, he’ll be like a huge steal. You don’t think so ?

imAboutDatActionParticipantNo, i dont.
the only reason people think that is because of his career game against Kentucky. If he had an average game that day, the same people wouldnt even mention him as a draft steal.
He’s a 2nd round prospect.

rbailey0040ParticipantI actually like early more than most. I think his age is what will have him slipping a few slots, but from what I saw I felt like he could play in the league. He moves really well for his size and seemed to have decent length. I think his jumper looked nice as well. I really liked his ability to get his shot off in multiple ways off the dribble/pull up/fades/…………..I think he could contribute to a team pretty early

rbailey0040Participantnot sure about that, I think he looked like a decently complete player but I only saw a handful of wichita state games, I’ll go out on a limb and say yea he could start on the bucks next year, if not he could contribute to some sub par teams off the bench. I don’t think he will fall to the 2nd round like some think james young will fall really far as well. I know he’s a few years older but the kid played well against plenty of other guys who are gonna be lottery picks

AwrightAwrightAwrightParticipantBut, after their 2nd pick, Milwaukee won’t pick again until 31, right ? Do you think he’ll slide that far down ?

Magic JordanParticipantHe’s a decent shooter so if he really wants to stick around in the league he should focus on being the best at that as he can. He could be a solid 3 and D guy eventually because he is a solid athlete, solid size. A lot of people, though they won’t say it now were comparing him to Melo during the tourney. Clearly that was unfair. At some point I think the risk outweighs the reward with him, I would put that mark at early 2nd round. In between 30-35. Anywhere outside of 35 I think it’s a steal.

JoeWolf1I think he reminds me of former Cav, Chris Mills. A really skilled, pretty decent sized 3, who can play a little bit of stretch 4 because of his range, strength and athletic ability.
Early plays in the MVC, but he has a history of playing up against better, major conference NCAA teams. The Kentucky game kind of established him as a 1st rounder, because they were the biggest and most athletic team in the NCAA last season, and it was such a great game.
You can’t really scoff at his 16.4 ppg and 5.9 rpg either because he only played 27.4 mpg because a lot of WSU’s games were blowouts and he was on the bench for a large portion of the 2nd half. Per 40 min he scored at a rate of 23.94 ppg and rebounded to the tune of 8.6 per game per 40 min.
Andrew Wiggins and Jabari Parker both played around 32 minutes per game, and adjust Early’s pace to 32 minutes and he’s at 19.1 ppg 6.9 rpg.
Last year in the NCAA tournament he hung 24 and 10 on Louisville, 12 and 7 on Ohio State, 16 and 7 against Gonzago and 21 and 7 against Pittsburg.
This guy has been on the map for a while, and yes, he did really blow up after the Kentucky game, but he’s not a one game All-Star. He’s had a medioric rise over the past two seasons, and I think he’s very much worth a mid-first round pick.

celtics1982ParticipantI like the Chris Mills example, also reminds me of James Posey. The problem I have with Early is the simple fact that he averaged less then one assist, steal and block a game for each of the last two years, while playing in the MVC. That is a MAJOR red flag in my book. He’ll have to work on the rest of his game to even become like James Posey.
