For some reason (probably named Noah Vonleh) it seems like Julius Randle’s stock is falling, how far could he potentially slide?

No one knows what the heck the Jazz are going to do. To date they have only worked out one of the top 8 projected prospects (Gordon). Looks like they might have some trade up or trade downs already in place.

If you follow the jazz history they hardly ever even draft people that they workout.  I’m not sure why but that’s the case.  So I wouldn’t read too much into it.  Wouldn’t surpise me at all to see them draft: Gordon, Vonleh, Randle, Smart or moving up or down.  I think that was one of your points too, who knows what they’ll do.

Personally, the only thing I’ll be upset with is if they move down without geting something really good in return (another lotto pick and a descent player).  There are just too many good options at 5…

I can’t see him falling far at all, but I saw a mock today that saw him fall to the bulls at 16!! That’s why I made this post to see if you guys think that’s reasonable at all!?

I made a post about him before and think he will fall to about 10-11.

I fear he is going to be caught in an awkward spot and pushed out with Vonleh and Gordons stock rising. Also Lavine has seen a lot of spotlight on him and I would be shocked if a top 10 team doesn’t take a chance on him.

I see it as either him or Marcus Smart who falls on draft day, as Exum is safe to go top 5, and cannot see Smart falling past teams like Boton or LA.

according to unbiased he is the best prospect in the draft, and will have a better career than embiid….so he shouldn’t fall past #1

Its weird I caught this, I haven’t been on this site in a while.  I assume you’re talking about me???  I am indeed really high on Randle as I think he can play a similar style to Blake Griffin.  However, I never said he is the best prospect.  I like Wiggins, Embiid, Parker, and Randle.  I said Randle would be a great fit at 3 to the Sixers and also that I wouldn’t pass up a potential HOF wing like Wiggins or Parker to draft a Center.  And no, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if Randle ends up being the best of this class, I never said he will be cause I like the other guys so much, it just wouldn’t surprise me.

I think it’d be a huge mistake to let him go past 5th. Huge. He could very well be the best player in the draft. I think his defensive woes have been largely overstated. He plays with serious intensity and I’m sure some coach could help him make that translate into defense. They say he ‘a a little short for a PF, but he has a great wingspan.

I go for the Lakers and I’d be glad to have Randle at 7, but I think somebody will be smart enough to take him before then.

I think he goes to one of three places, LA at 7, Sac 8, or Phi at 10. He is a top 10 pick and in now at should he fall outside of 10 if so a team will be getting a monsterous steal. His only real liability is that he won’t be an impact defender but he projects as a plus scorer especially if he gets a better jumper and finishes more with his right.

I think Randle is actually a lock to be a multiple time all-star. Sure his ceiling isn’t sky-high, but surely a career 20/10 guy still has value?

With a shotblocking centre he’d make a formiddable front court.

In my opinion he is the 5th best prospect in this draft, but he’s not a great fit for the Jazz. They already have two young big men without great range, if they draft Randle it means they’re giving up on Kanter. Not much different for the Celtics, though Olynyk is still unproven and they might want to use Sullinger as a trade chip for a big name. I can’t really see how the Lakers might pass on him, at 7 he has too much value and the Lakers have needs basically at every position, so the must go BPA. But he’s been a bit overscouted, it seems a lot of people are focusing on his weaknesses more than on his strength and I’m sure Kentucky’s horrible spacings didn’t help him at all, especially finishing at the rim and driving to the basket, so he might be better at those things in the Nba even if he won’t be able to bully opponents with his strength as he did in college. Also his form is good, so it wouldn’t surprise me if he develops a good jumper. But again, a lot of people seem to be a bit down on him because expectations were so high, while nobody expected much from Vonleh in season one. Now there’s this foot thing, it’s hard for us to really understand what’s going on, but at this point it wouldn’t surprise me if he slips a little.

Hopefully we’ll get Wiggins at 3, and Randle falling all the way down to us at 10, coz then he’ll be the biggest steal of the "#5 – #10 tier".

His stock is likely dropping because of the reports about his foot. Some sources are saying that he needs potentially serious surgery and could have recurring foot problems throughout his career. Randle had a serious foot injury in high school, and big men with foot problems always have issues dealing with them, even ending some careers. However, Randle has denied that he has been told he needs surgery, and he says that he was unaware that he had any problems with his foot.

I can see a team with a hole at the four trading up for him. Minnesota obviously needs an eventual replacement for you-know-who, but at 13, there may not be a long-term four available. I could see them moving up to get Randle if he slides past 8 or so.

I’m really torn on Orlando. Some are reporting that they’ll take Vonleh at No. 4 due to the PGs available at No. 12. But Exum is so enticing. I think if they take Exum at No. 4, they could make a move to get back into the top 10 for Randle.

Sacramento has some pieces and parts at the four, but with Boogie’s style of play, I think they’d want a stretch four. Randle would duplicate Boogie rather than complementing him, so I don’t see Randle there.

Maybe Toronto could move up for Randle to get an upgrade over Amir Johnson.

If no trades happen, I think Charlotte and Philly both make a lot of sense. For Charlotte, it’s a question of whether they need outside shooting more. I have them taking Stauskas but Randle wouldn’t surprise me.

Philly — possibly preparing for the departure of Thad — could definitely take Randle at 10. Adding Jabari Parker and Randle to MCW and Noel would make for a fun young nucleus.

Yeah, and then imagine if they can package Thad and #32 to move up to get Phoenix’s #18 (if they don’t wanna give us their #14) and then we grab somebody like Cleananthony Early with it.

If we look at consensus mocks I cannot see him falling past Sacramento at 8. This would probably mean Exum goes 4, Vonleh 5, Gordon 6 and Smart 7. Personally I think if the Lakers pick and Randle is on board they take him.
