The Cavs are in an intersting position with the number one overall pick. With Kevin Love and Carmelo Anthony available, would you rather keep the number one pick (Wiggins, Parker, or Embiid) or get Kevin Love or Carmelo Anthony.

I would personally rather have Kevin Love than the number one pick, even in this year’s loaded draft class. There is just something to be said about a proven commodity.

What would you rather have and why?

I would want Kevin Love over any prospect in this draft not named Joel, Jabarri or Andrew…

Meaning I would absolutely trade any pick after 4 for Kevin Love and not even look back, but you can’t pass on The Big 3 of Embiid, Parker and Wiggins

So I agree I would rather have a proven All NBA player instead of a rookie anyday but not If that Rookie could be a Top 5 player at his position in the future, Love is older and more expensive, so there are other factors to gage when bringing up this debate…

Would you rather pay 5-7 million per season over the next 4 years for Embiid, Parker, Wiggins or pay 15-20 million for Love over the same period of time…

For some teams it would be worth it 100%, but for others it’s not that simple…

In your mind, which teams would it be worth it for and which teams wouldn’t it be?

I think draft picks can sometimes be overrated. Its all based on "potential" where as you are trading for a proven NBA player (you know his style of play at this level. His injury concerns/pros/cons etc). Lots of players do not live up to their "draft hype" where as there are fewer players that exceed draft day expectations.

Well a lot of teams such as the Bucks, T Wolves, Utah, etc don’t have the luxury of  signing elite free agents. Either due to market or lack of Appeal in the losing, living environment, etc. it’s important for those teams to  draft elite talent, develop it, and sign it long term. Like a previous poster said, it all depends on the team. LA and Bos are bad now but have a long tradition of winning and they are great places to live and do things when your not playing ball, they  have the option to trade their picks for key vets if they feel so. Jazz, Bucks, and  Etc need toget young pieces to build around

Melo has an ETO. If there was mutual interest, he’s just sign with Cleveland.

Love is a free agent next year, unless he’s signing long term as part of the deal then there is no way Cleveland should risk dealing the #1 pick. Quite frankly Minny has no leverage in this situation, Cleveland shouldn’t have to deal the #1 for Love.
