King CaluchaParticipantI know most of you don’t like international basketball, but for those who do… Maccabi vs Real Madrid is being played at the moment. A give and take game with a 60-58 score in favor of Maccabi.
Real Madrid is a great offensive team, but David Blatt’s offense if giving them a run for their money. So far Mirotic and Rudy Fernandez looking great.

King CaluchaParticipant67-67 and 3 minutes to go. Great basketball being displayed!

King CaluchaParticipantLol… some guy from Maccabi dunked the ball in the last second when the game was already decided.
This Real Madrid might be one of the best offensive teams I’ve seen in European basketball… but they struggled to defend the pick and roll the entire game. Also, David Blatt is a great coach… I think he played under Pete Carrill and he has had a good career as a coach overseas.

McDunkinShout out to Rudy for looking great all season and even bigger shoutout to Sergio Rodriguez who once was a bit of a forum joke aka "the deer in headlights" and now has turned himself into a euroleague mvp and possibly the best pg in the league

CameronCrazy11ParticipantIs it true that Boston College legend Tyrese Rice took home the Final Four MVP honors?

King CaluchaParticipantHe had a fantastic game. He destroyed Madrid’s defense… going to the lane at will off screens. I think both Llull and Rodriguez did a terrible job stopping this guy. The other Maccabi players weren’t as aggresive… Real Madrid only needed one adjustment and they didn’t make it. On top of that… Rice got fouled tons of times and it seems he wasn’t going to miss a single FT (haven’t seen the stats yet).
About Rodriguez being the best PG in the league. I think he’s an elite guard for European standard and he fits Madrid’s offense really well… but he’s not a great playmaker. I like Huertas from Barcelona a lot better. Remember this if you watch the World cup.

McDunkinI appreciate that info king and also you for even starting this thread..outside of prospects euroleague talk is limited.
With Sergios case I tried my best to explain it to my friend (and heck I maybe wrong myself) by comparing it to Jason Williams going from his “white chocolate” flash style to a more subtle and consistent playing style when he was pg for the championship heat years ago…he didn’t vastly improve his game or anything but just started approaching the game a smarter way with his skillset.
With Rudy honestly I gotta hold off on saying he exactly improved drastically as a player…don’t get me wrong he has always been great (and unfortunately tagged with that Ginobili comparison a lot of 6’6″ international prospects got through the 2000s) I think he just enjoys his status in Spain more than the US. Some said he was a bit of a whiner when it came to his NBA time but you can just see the difference in energy he plays with for Real Madrid I mean he wasn’t going in for one handed putback jams like he has been doing left and right this season.
Greek baller maybe having more championship experience will finally get big sofo that deal from the clippers.

Jr. ROXASParticipantEuroleague stopped beaing aired in our country last, so I havent been following it lately. But I have to ask how FC Barcelona fared? That team as well as Real Madrid were the teams that always had their games aired here. Where did they get knocked out? If I remember, they had an awesome and immensely stacked team. Huertas, Navarro, Tomic, Mikael and some other really talented guys.

King CaluchaParticipantBarcelona lost in the final 4 against Real Madrid on friday, but they beat Madrid in the spanish league a week ago. Btw, Mikael is playing in Puerto Rico right now. Barcelona does have Abrines, Hezonja, Bostjian Nachbar (who I don’t like much), Lorbek (who I like a lot), Maciej Lampe.

McDunkinI had always thought Lampes okay after he returned overseas would have gotten him a second look by someone.
