DukeDaSquadParticipantWho are some players that have surprised you with their Ape Index Measurents which is their height subtracted from their wingspan. Some ones I know of that surprised me when first seeing them is ofcourse Durant who is measured at 6’9" barefoot( though is probably an inch or so taller) but was recorded as having a 7’6" wingspan. Another one is Elton Brand who is recorded at 6’8.25" without shoes but has a 7’5.5" wingspan.
The ape index of Durant is 9 inches, and the ape index of Elton Brand is 9 inches or so also.
Also who do you think will have a large ape index in the 2014 NBA draft.
As a side note, I think that it is normal for your wingspan to be equivalent to your height

ChewyParticipantfor your height to be the same as your wingspan, or at least within 2 inches… for normal people. NBA players are not normal people, they are top level athletes. Cody Zeller had a wingspan that was the same as his height and people called him t-rex arms lol.

OhCanada-ParticipantBruno Caboclo from Brazil. Might not get drafted likely wont get measured to prove the rumours. He is rumoured to be 6’9 with a 7’9 wingspan and is an athletic perimeter shooter. They call him the Brazilian Kevin Durant.
All seems kind of farfetched to me, pretty unbelievable wingspan or "ape measurements" as you stated.

Magic JordanParticipantI am sure you got negged because some idiot thinks you are being racist. This is a fun question.
Embiids would probably measure in between 5 and 6.
Marcus Smart, Vonleh probably around the same.
I don’t know if there will be any ridiculous 8+ inch ape indexes this year. However what about the T Rex index? I feel like there will be some of those, Julius Randle, Dario Saric, and Doug McDermott to name a few.

DukeDaSquadParticipantAnother guy i remember is Beejay Anya of NC State who is 6’9" but is said to have a 7’9" wingspan. He is not currently a nba prospect in my eyes unless he significantly slims down and get better conditioning. it also wont hurt for him to develop some post moves

CameronCrazy11ParticipantI think Rajon Rondo has about a seven or eight inch difference between height and wingspan too

GabnosisParticipantHe has a 6"10 wingpan.
Mario Chalmers and Rodrigue Beaubois also have that 6"10 wingspan while being 6"1 – 6"2. Incredible.

LitteringAnd…ParticipantCan’t remember what it is numerically but Zach Randolph may have two of the longest arms ever attached to a human torso.

Make’Em Say UGHParticipant2 players that have stood out to me from watching their games would be MKG & Deandre Jordan!
MKG – 6’7 with 7 foot wingspan – Not the largest ‘ape index’ by far but it’s something about his arms that look freakishly long.
Deandre Jordan – 6’9.75 with 7’6 wingspan! MONSTER! With those arms, putback dunks, monster blocks, rebounds, etc. Nobody’s calling him undersized!

joecheck88ParticipantRudy Gobert had some of the longest measurements I’ve seen. 7 and 1 half inch with 7’8 and a half inch wingspan. 9’7" standing reach is nuts. Lamarcus Aldridge also comes to mind as having long arms as well as Tim Duncan.

checkbook_doc2Participantjoecheck88 beat me to Gobert.
He was a lot of fun to watch this year, the dude is very disruptive on defense.

Kevin6CDParticipantDamien Inglis should be around 6 or 7 inches on the AI. Vonleh could come in around 7 as well. Draft Express has archives of how guys measured in at certain camps for most prospects. As of his last measurement, Jerami Grant was at a 7.5.

SocGradParticipantLarry Sanders has 7’5.5" wingspan at 6’9", John Henson’s are .5" shorter at the same height.
The Greek Freak was at 7’3" predraft, but he’s still growing, so that number may have changed. That team’s got wingspan for sure.

HitsterParticipantAlexis Ajinca of NOP has an 8 inch positive difference between wingspan and height with shoes. David West is 7 inch positive difference. Bismack Biyombo is a 8.5 inch positive difference.
The lists are on a well known rival draft site if someone wants to trawl through them to find some other good ones.
