    Golden State Warriors

I don’t think the Warriors should fire Mark Jackson. I think he has done a great job as a coach, even if there are a lot of weird rumors and stuff around the Warriors’ coaching staff.

Imagine that team running D’Antoni’s system. D’Antoni would probably move Lee to center, which is where he played when D’Antoni coached Lee in New York and where Lee’s career took off. The Warriors would finally get a four who can shoot threes and let Green, Iggy, and Bogut worry about defense in different lineups.

That team would average 120 a game, and Curry would be a legit MVP candidate.

     Rockets.

Get McFail to resign.  Bring D’antoni in.  Reunite him with Lin.  Re-institute the pick-n-roll system to start Linsanity 2.0 for Rockets fans.

Oh !  Almost forgot D’antoni is one of the reasons why he wanted out of LAL.  Oh well, he can’t keep doing that forever.  Needs to stop burning those bridges.  LOL !!  Excellent point !!!

Bill Simmons made this suggestion during his podcast and i agreed..and thats going to college. with his system, he can recruit his players and just run wild at the college level.

    would be exciting.

         yup he did.

i mean, he can go to an unknown school and he’ll still be able to get players jus due to his name and offensive system where players know it’ll help their draft stock.

look at Larry brown at SMU, he’s already recruited the only two Mcdonalds All Amercians they ever had over there. a top recruit, Mudiay went there because of him.

Maybe switch place with coach Cal.  The Twins will then probably thrive under a D’antoni run and gun system.

the twins can’t shoot and are extremely soft at the rim.  They can’t finish!!

A point guard that can shoot and has shooters all around him and finishers would work.

GS with Curry in the Nash role, Thompson in the Joe Johnson role, and Iggy and Barnes running down the court and finishing and Speights and Lee also being able to shoot, it would be fun to watch.

They have no shot at winning as is, might as well be even more entertaining than they are right now.

         lol relax with your rant.

Aaron can shoot. your rant is more towards Andrew who struggled to finish around the rim. he actually shoot pretty decent from the 3 point line though.

Lolz … Sorry, I was just imagining Lance Stephenson’s eyes glowing as D’Antoni tells him to shoot more threes.

I actually don’t hate the idea, but the roster would need to be remade. They would probably try to trade Hill and West for a good point guard or something.

     What about the Thunder?

Durant, Westbrook, Ibaka, and Reggie should be running.

Pick and rolls with Durant and Westbrook or Ibaka and Westbrook.

Maybe as like an offensive coordinator. His ego might not go along with this but I don’t think he should be given another shot as a head coach any time in the near future. I think he could be the perfect coordinator for offense like Thibs was for defense in Boston. Kevin Ollie should be the guy for the Thunder.

He’s actually an underrated coach imo at this point. He’s a bit niche with his system, but if he is allowed to have all his own players, he will give you a winning basketball team. But with the lack of defense, I don’t know if he can give you a champion.

College would be really good system wise. Who knows if he wants to do that though, recruiting and what not.

Look at what he did this year with the Lakers. 27 wins in a brutal conference and division with Nick Young, a washed up Pau, and flotsam. He made Kendall Marshall into a legit NBA player. He made no fuss about a terrible situation. Nick Young seems to love playing for him.

I’m just not sure he can coach effectively in the playoffs.

D’Antoni would be perfect at a Major Conference School that has been unsuccessful.. I think he would find himself in a great situation if he landed at any SEC school thats not Kentucky or Florida.. SEC recruits the type of athletes that would fit in perfectly for his system..

I see Wizards as a great fit. Yes, Wittman has done a great job with this team leading them to the second round, but they would be much better with a run n gun system. Imagine Wall given freedom to run every possesion with Beal, Ariza, Miller, Booker etc. That’s scary.

I also think D’antoni could elevate Wall’s game to another level, or at least just inflate his stats given his history of making point guards look really good in his system.

you can’t run his system and win in the NBA.  There is no defense involved.  Its just high octane run and shoot and hope you outshoot the other team.  The Thunder already do that.  Thunder don’t have any set plays.

SEC has big bodies.  SEC does not have shooters like Nash and Johnson.

How about minny? Have Rubio push the ball and look for shooters and cutters instead of taking jumpers in the half court. Love would still remain as primary scoring option.only player that doesn’t fit is pekovic.

Theoretically, heading back to Phoenix would be cool. You have an extremely athletic back court in Bledsoe and Dragic, both of whom can hit the 3 ball, already have stretch bigs in Morris, Miles Plumlee an athletic big, and just imagine Gerald Green zipping up and down the court slamming it and popping threes to his hearts content. Of course, they just acquired Hornacek who is doing a fantastic job in his own right, so this is merely theoretical.

He’s not a bad coach, but man… all he needs is dedicating a little bit of time to defensive schemes. He can hire a defense assistant if he doesn’t like preaching defense.

I think the OKC would benefit from the run and gun style as they have incredible young athletes; basically stallions that moves up and down the court and they have enough perimeter shooting for the spacing to open the floor up for dribble drives. Although, the defense will always a problem for OKC and having Mike D’Antoni as coach does not necessarily help the cause.

Not gonna lie- I wouldn’t touch D’Antoni right now. Especially with guys like Hollins, McMillan, even Messina or Boylin still on the market. He is a one trick pony who has coached precisely ONE successful team. And that team, if we look back, was a) tailor made for his offense b) made up of multiple legit all-stars in their prime. Nash, Johnson, Marion, Stoudamire? come on.

I would argue that the offense made some of those players (role players; if we want to classify them as much) into all stars. With Nash’s guidance and precise passing, it made the offense flow without a hitch. Everyone that made the All star game in that team with the exception of Nash and may be Amare’ wouldn’t have been there if it wasn’t for the offense and the type of stats it generates (points, FG%, 3 FG%, free throws per game.. etc.) With the spacing it creates, shooters are going to have a field day and roll men will have space to operate. Not to mention, the possessions per game it generates. Even with the Lakers this season early on, I really thought they could be in the mix for the 8th seed. Unfortunately, injuries have taken their toll on the roster. However, even with a season in which they missed the playoffs, Nick Young is having a career year, Wes Johnson ( a former lotto pick; labeled as a bust basically) proving some worth for teams looking to add athleticism in the perimeter, Xavier Henry showing flashes of what he is capable, an off ball threat with some one on one skills and Kendall Marshall proving he can run a team and make great decisions with the ball. All players that were mentioned are perennial D-League players outside of Nick Young.

Mike D’Antoni has not done much in his last two head coaching roles but as a Phoenix fan I still have huge affection for the guy. He’s nearly 63 now and is probably a fairly rich chap so probably doesn’t need to push for a head coaching role.

He will likely get media work and I can see how a role as a well paid college coach for a max 40 game season could well appeal to him. Also I like the idea of him being an offensive co-ordinator on a team like the Pacers.

I wonder if he would be considered for a front office role as he has always been good a bringing young players along so could be a good judge of draft talent.
