BornaskulParticipantCibona won the ABA league and Saric was selected as MVP to nobody’s surprise.
At the beginning of the season no one thought Cibona has much chance to win the title. But Dario Saric believed they could do it. Their rotation was cut to only 7-8 players(in the middle of the season) getting serious minutes in big games. Saric was a true leader of the team , not only according to stats but he also made everyone better and encouraged them to play with more heart and desire. He was the best scorer and rebounder of the season in ABA (16,5ppg 9,5 rpg) and he also added 3 assists to that .
Cibona already lost three finals before and all with stronger teams , one of them even lead by Alan Anderson. You have probably heard of him. But this year Saric showed everyone discipline and playing with heart beats money. He made his team believe they can succeed . That is what makes him special , he is a true leader and a winner . In the finals he had 23 points on 7-17 shooting 11 boards , 7 assists and 4-5 blocked shots . His biggest weakness is supposedly shooting , he was 5-9 from the 3pt line and 3-7 in the semifinal . He also hit all 4 free throws .
He could be worth a top ten pick in my opinion.

Lotto StudParticipantFrom his scouting report tape I’ve noticed that he is very good in transition. What I would like to know is can he thrive in a system that is not uptempo?

BornaskulParticipantI agree that a team that plays faster would be better for him but hey half a year ago he was shooting bad and he improved that , I am sure he can adjust.

HomerKangParticipantIf the Sixers do somehow decide to go with him at #10, and he can become Detlef Schrempf 2.0 in two or three years time, then I’ll be more than satisfied.

Mr. HookShotParticipantHis only problem is that its unsure whether he can defend, and which position (SF or PF). For the rest, I really like his game, he is a smart player and a hard working guy, who really improved his game the last couple of years. He is a proven winner at a pro-level, and showed he can lead a team in pressure situations. I like him at #12 for Orlando, or at #17 to the Celtics or to euro-friendly team Toronto at #20 (although I don’t think he will fall that far). Really curious to see him play in the league.

aramboneParticipantMaybe even the Lakers at 6 or 7, since Mike D will be coaching again.

Fun one partyParticipantNot going to happen. That’s too high for Dario Saric he will be at #10-#14.Phoenix Suns would love him,Saric fits their system perfectly and they pick at #14 a way more reasonable spot for Dario than #6 or #7.Imagine Dragic getting to play with Saric they could do well together.Lakers are likely drafting either Dante Exum or Marcus Smart. They need a Point Guard since Steve Nash is 40 years old and injury prone in the last year of his contract and Marshall is a player with too many flaws and he will probaly be let go after his deal runs out.Farmar is a free agent and might leave.Yeah the will draft a Point Guard IMO.But Saric will get drafted in the lottery just later than #6 or #7.

aramboneParticipantImagine for a moment that Saric was a college sophomore, and not a dominant pro in a top league. Then imagine where the mocks would rank him. He barely gets any exposure here, while the Noah Vonleh’s get max exposure and high mock draft placement, lol.

Fun one partyParticipantWell i love the effort the kid Saric plays with and he is very young only 20 years old but the NBA overlooks certain players it has happened in the past with this short list of foreign players Arvidas Sabonis,Vlade Divac,Toni Bulls Fame,Dirk,Manu Ginobli,Luis Scola,Goran Dragic yeah the NBA GM’S and scouting departments have missed on many excellent players from overseas. At least they discovered Dario Saric in time to likely draft him in the lottery.Dirk was picked at #9 shoulda been much higher lol.

aramboneParticipantGood news for Suns fans is Saric rising might push Kyle Anderson down to 14 for you. I love Anderson but Saric definitely seems more passionate.

TenSecondTomParticipantI would find it hard to believe he would slip past Philly’s second pick around 10. He’s too talented to go down from there and I think if he were playing at the college level we would view him in the same ballpark as Randle and Vonleh. I think defensively long-term he will be suited to play the 4 as long as he learns to defend the pick and role properly, his rebounding tenacity could be useful closer to the basket.

BornaskulParticipantYou probably misunderstood me . I am not saying Saric is a better player than Wiggins or Parker , they would maybe average even better numbers but Saric made his team believe they can win, Cibona’s captain Marin Rozic lost three finals in the ABA league with better players around him than today and he stopped thinking they can do it. later he said he didn’t believe until Saric made him change his mind . The players didnt get payed for months but he found a way to motivate them somehow .

HitsterParticipantAs a Phoenix fan I’d be happy if we took him at 14 or 18, personally I don’t think he’ll be available at 18. I’d say his draft ballpark is 10 to 15, so you could make a case for a lot of teams in that draft area taking him apart from maybe Denver who will hopefully have Gallinari returnig next season.
Saric is hard to pinpoint as to his best position but at worse I can see him being a great bench option as his versatility would be a huge help to any coach and his passing ability if used at PF gives a lot of possible mismatches.

Rip255I think Saric will be a starting SF and have career averages of 16pts, 7 rebs and 4 assists. However I also think he’s NBA ready and will be a ROY contender. He’s much more polished at this stage than most of the US college freshmen.
I really like him. He has a high basketball IQ and can do a lot of things on the court to help a team. He just looks more savvy than his opponents and makes it look easy out there. I definitely think a top 10 pick and wouldn’t begrudge any team that took him from 5 onwards.
Keep in mind I’m not someone who thinks the real NBA draft will closely resemble mocks, particularly after the top 3.

aramboneParticipantI think this is the full game of the Championship. Just uploaded an hour ago http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QnWeihy97yM Nurkic played in that game for the red team, and I know there is a previous match on youtube of Saric vs Nurkic’s team.
