Just wanted to get everyone’s take on Oladipo’s performance this year. Do you feel he met or exceeded expectations this year for the Magic? What about his position.. did he convince the Magic brass that he’s a PG or will he move to SG & potentially make room for Orlando to select Exum or Smart in the upcoming Draft?

Seems like he has a good deal of upside, and could become one of those rare 17/5/5 talents that contributes a lot on the defensive end.

Both those guys are too similar in size and skills to work. They would overlap each other on the court having the same strengths instead of complementing one another. It’s not just having the best talent available on the court sometimes, but having talent that works well together.

I like what this site has with Napier going to the Magic at 12.  He would be a good backcourt player for them.  He can shoot and score, while Oladipo can slash and defend. Then with their top pick they can go with Jabari Parker or Andrew Wiggins.  Even Embiid would work for them.

Cough! Cough! I’ll gladly take full accountability for the Napier Magic projection. Did not see any source prior to me slating him there in Mocks.

lol dont over rate Napier now.

he’s undersized and plays like a SG too many times. he has a tendency of chucking up alot of dumb shots.

to me, 13-4-4 is pretty respectable for oladipo.  17-5-5 is a reasonable expectation if he can get his shooting percentages up.  he’s a great athlete and a hard worker so i think he’ll continue to improve.  i don’t think he’ll ever make a permanent switch to pg, but i think he proved that he can handle the position if the team was in a bind.

for the draft, if they end where they are; they should take embiid over exum or smart.  exum has a lot of question marks over whether he can even play the point at the next level.  lot of scouts see him as more of a sg.  embiid has too much value.  at 12, it’ll be interesting.  i don’t think it’ll happen but one way to get oladipo and afflalo on the court at the same time is to bring in a guy like kyle anderson that can run the offense and guard a sf on defense.  i think a more reasonable option though is go for ennis and try to move afflalo for some future assets or a sf that can put points on the board.  i’d call phoenix and offer afflalo for gerald green and their last 1st round pick.

He convinced me he can be a better Avery Bradley while being plug in as the 1. Expect him to be moved back into his off-guard position where he can do what he is more comfortable, and comes natural which is slash and clean up plays around the rim.

i like him, he exceeded my expectations of him.

but he’s not a PG. he didnt play horrible, but he showed thats not a position for him in the future. he can be a combo guard, but not the main distrubutor.

i still like him. such a great defender and athlete. his jumper is still a work in progress but its not broken.

I watched a few games this year of him playing the one and he was actually a bit better then I thought he would be. I’ve always thought that at the 1 he could be like a Westbrook lite in a good and bad way.  He’s not a natural passer but he still a very capable one. Not sure if I would want him as my pg of the future but I think he has some room to grow and could possibly be a really good option there and you know that he can be an elite option there defensively which is a big plus with all the really good pgs in the league now.

He played well I thought.  Right about where I thought he’d be with averages.  Shooting % was lower than I expected, but he will improve.
