korousek3ParticipantI’m going to start of with Kobe Bryant. Being named after a tasty steak, priceless.

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantHaha, you do realize that the steak (and Bryant) are named after the Japanese city right?
I’ll have to go with God Shammgod. The most blasphemous name in existence. What’s especially funny is that his name was actually his birth name, not a nickname like Fat Lever or a self created name like Metta World Peace. In fact he preferred to go by Shammgod Wells in highschool but was forced to go by his birth name of God Shammgod at Providence or pay $600 to get his name legally changed.

drice4life1753ParticipantGod Shammgod was literally the FIRST person I thought of, aha. My goodness talk about asinine names…smh at parents these days. There is a difference between sounds/looks funny name and a close to just plain idiotic name. Shammgod definietely follows the latter.
How about…
– Pops Mensah Bonsu
-Matt Bonner…if you say you and your friends don’t/didn’t scream "BONER!" when ever he hit a corner 3, you are lying. aha
-Robert Swift…as a die hard Seattle Sonics/Seattle fan not only was his name an oxymoron, but his appearance transformation after a couple years in the league PURELY gets him mention in this topic. aha….just google Robert Swift and read his latest news.

HitsterParticipantThere is a Brazilian footballer who is known as Hulk and has that on his shirt. Talking of the NBA I quite like Cleanthony Early, I’ve never heard that first name before.
One of the most original sporting names I ever heard of was of a good local football whose first name was Exodus as his father had been a huge Bob Marley fan.
I recall one US comedy show years back where a girls middle name was Wilt as her Dad was a basketball fan.

King CaluchaParticipantBrazilians are known to use their nicknames in their shirts. Hulk is the nickname, his legal name is Givanildo Vieira Da Souza.

porquevaParticipantMy buddy told me one time the Pistons were close to scoring 125 points, which at this time would have gotten everyone at the game free pizza, and as dembo attempted the 3 pointer that would have pushed over the top pistons announcer george blaha had a call of "Dembo for the pizza!!!" Too bad he missed the shot
