Does LaMarcus Aldridge have the best mid-range game in NBA right now. I think so. He has been so impressive all year long. What do you think guys? Other great mid-range shooter today…

While Lamarcus comes close I think Dirk has the best mid range game in the league wrapped up, with Melo also being right behind. From 10-16 feet, LA only shoots 38% and Melp shoots 44%, whilst Dirk makes 48%, then when you extend it further out, to 16 feet to the 3 point line Dirk shoots a blistering 51% whilst LA and melo shoot 44%.

  These are some nice stats. I think you are right assuming that the three players hit a high volume of shots.

    These two shot areas make up over 50% of both Dirk and LA’s offence whereas it only makes up 40% of Melos, who makes a considerable more amount of shots between 0 and 3 feet, those shots making up 35% of his total offence whereas with Dirk and LA those same shots only make up 6% and 19% of their respective offences

Luis Scola is pretty high up on that list as well. Hard to say he’s above LaMarcus and Dirk in my opinion, but he’s probably still top 5.

Definitely Dirk and LA are up there, I think Curry is also up there as well (think he had like a near 50% FG on 15-18 footers in one season) even though most people think of him as a 3 guy, but I guess he takes a lot less shots from there than Dirk and Aldridge.

Drives me crazy when people say the back to the basket centers of the 90’s couldn’t hack it in today’s game. Ewing, Hakeem, and Robinson were all terrific mid range players. When LA was hitting those baseline, high arching fade aways it was very Ewing-esque.
