 Under no situation is 13 mil a max salary.  It’s near max. It’s the first year in a max which increases 5% every year.  Averaging out around 14.5 – 15 million for a max.  That’s only if we are talking about a non all NBA performer/ MVP which would fall under the Derrick Rose rule allowing the max to be significantly more. 

You didn’t say a 10 million expiring of an ALL STAR you said 10 million a year of Dead Money…. to me that means a bad contract.  A la Gerald Wallace or wait for it…… Nene.  Who by your example is making "max" money since he is making 13 million a year as you referenced.  

So using your example, John Wall with an average of 14.5 and Nene with a 13 mil salary means you are commited to 27.5 million over the next three years at least which, I dunno my math isn’t the greatest but is CLOSE to 30 million which is what I stated.

Furthermore that is just the example of John Wall and Nene…where John Wall is only on his first extension… if we talk about somebody like K Love who is set to get his 2nd max contract will put him anywhere from 18-20 mil a year…. throw in what you refer to as a "dead contract" like Kevin Martin who makes a little over 7 mil a year, you are still looking at CLOSE to 30 mil.

Where did you get a 10m All star on the last year of his salary?  You said nothing about that.  If by dead you meant expiring you should specifiy.  Neg me all you want, I have some to spare but you should properly phrase your question before doing so.

NOW with all of that cleared up  there is no way you would convince me to take Nene and give up Joel Embiid on his rookie contract for the next 5 years.  Wall for Embiid straight up?  I consider that, but I wouldn’t take on "dead salary" to do so, John Wall just doesn’t move the needle enough for me.

With nothing else going the Timberwolves teams way? No, Love is a proven star and no ammount of potenial is going to get the T-Wolves to part with him as long they still they can retain him. If the team in question provides an already proven starter or a high potenial young guy in addition to the pick, or Milt Newton gives up on resigining Love, then the Wolves may snap.
