brucetorunParticipantWhich player had the best March madness that increased their draft stock, and ultiamtely made the most money?
Randle, who was dropping pre tourney to solid top 5 (you could say he was always top 5)
Napier, who 20th in the mock draft but now could go in the mid lottery
Aaron Harrison, who was a second rounder to the lottery
Who lost the most?
McDermott?
Wiggins?

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantShabazz Napier also increased his draft stock IMO…
Alex Pothress, Aaron and Andrew Harrison all showed flashes of brilliance too, Pothress likely stays for another year but at worst he’s a early 2nd round gamble, The Harrison’s should stay but if they declare someone will have to take a long look at them from 20 and on.
It would be absolutely amazing to see The Twins end up in Phoenix playing next to the Morris Twins, or in Chicago playing off Derrick Rose…I don’t believe they’ll go that high (14th and 17th to the Suns is completely off the table, but the Bulls could afford to draft them with there 1st rounders)

Lotto StudParticipantI can see Andrew in Phoenix which is where I have him now. I don’t think they will take another 2 this year because they are trying to develope Archie besides they are very deep at that spot.

omphalosParticipantI’ve been looking at scenarios to see what teams could select both twins, would be really interesting to see a team groom them to be their future backcourt.

Lotto StudParticipant+1 for your first post man and welcome to the forum!
I agree with your list as far as post Tournament play. Outside the obvious I think James Young is on the rise as well as Adreian Payne no one really talks about Payne.
If I really had to choose someone who lost the most money, I’d go with Marcus Smart only because he returned and has now slid a few spots because of the new talent. (Not knocking him at all)
Wiggins hasn’t done anything to hurt his position he’s a Lock for Top 3 now if you say he lost money from becoming the preseason consensus pick then I agree again.

morestealsthanscoresParticipantall good arguments- i can see napier going in the late teens. the only one i disagree with is aaraon harrison- i think he could go twenties but not teens just yet!
i’d love to see both harrison’s go back next year, and both play off the ball. having those two on the wings would be great.

JoeWolf1I think DeAndre Daniels and Cleanthony Early, for the moment at least, may have bumped themselves from sure fire 2nd rounders to late 1st round picks. That jump alone is a huge, because of the guaranteed money involved.
Obviously, there’s a lot of time go and a poor combine or workout showing could drop them back down, but for the moment….those two I think have done well for themselves.
I don’t want to seem like I’m just ragging on the Harrisons, but they’re not lotto guys right now. Aaron had a huge part in a very special NCAA run, and hit some big shots, but this draft is pretty loaded in the 15-20 range and I don’t think Aaron Harrison is a top 14 player despite his big shots. Tall 19 year old shooter, sure he has some potential, but I just don’t get the logic.
I watched all the games, so I know what people see in him, but it’s not like he was dominant. Harrison averaged 7.5 ppg 3.5 rpg 1 apg on 2-6 shooting from downtown and 6-15 shooting from the field in the Final 4. The kid has some potential, but where is this "understood" notion that he’s a lotto pick now? I think there’s virtually no way either twin drops below 35 if they enter, and yes, they have improved there stock. I think their range starts around 19 or 20, but I’m just not sure they’ve done as much to help themselves as is percieved on this forum.

I think Adrien Payne migth’ve moved up from 25-30 to the 15-20 range.

aztwulfParticipantNapier, was a late first before but now into the 11-20 range (being 23 already limits his upside)
Young, was mid teens before but now probably into the late lottery (still only 18 years old)
Kaminsky, went from a 25-40 guy to a 15-25 guy
Gordon, I think Gordon probably secured a spot in the late lottery (9-14)
The Harrison’s are not lottery picks, IMO.

jonus grumbyParticipantI think Kaminsky and Early made the most. I think going from 2nd round to 1st round is huge. Not saying Kaminsky is leaving but just saying I think they would both go in round 1 now.
Young likely made some $$. He seemed to be slipping a bit but now likely has move back up.
Napier likely has moved up but as has been mentioned his age will limit his upside.0 - Posted on: Tue, 04/08/2014 - 4:23am #886956

Moon RiverParticipantGet my votes. Kaminsky has already stated he is staying at UW.
Napier cemented himself in the upper half of the first round. I just wish he would not have made that dump post game comment about the academic suspension stuff. Should have left that one alone buddy.

Jester87ParticipantAaron Harrison is getting overrated based on two clutch shots. There’s no way he goes in the lottery unless he sets the world on fire during workouts and at the combine. Not easy to land in the first round too.
Napier clearly has really helped his cause, going from second round at best prospect to possible first rounder.

phwillParticipantreally surprised me in the tournament. He had a few huge games in the regular season, but a lot of Uconn games I watched he didn’t seem very aggressive or ended up getting in foul trouble. He went from being totally off my radar to showing signs of having legit potential during the tournament.

thricethefunParticipantThe guy that probably hurt his stock the most is Sam Decker from Wisconsin. He was talked about as being a lotto pick at the start of the season but he was largely invisible during Wisconsin’s tourney run and probably wouldn’t go in the 1st round if he came out now.
0- Posted on: Tue, 04/08/2014 - 12:23pm #887088

Jester87ParticipantHad a very good game against Kentucky. Very smart player. Never forces anything, plays within the flow, maybe too much. But that’s Wisconsin’s game, they don’t rely on a specific player, they execute a lot and they don’t really have a go to guy. I think tourney didn’t really hurt Dekker, the problem is he has been inconsistent with his jumper all season long and that’s what really concerns scouts.

Memphis MadnessParticipantIf the Harrisons aren’t top 15 picks (which it looks like they aren’t) they should come back.
Those two with Dakari Johnson returning probably, Marcus Lee, and maybe even Alex Poythress. That’s enough guys right there to really compete, then you have another good recruiting class.
If Poythress looks like a first round pick he might want to go. You would think a guy like him coming back would have more minutes next season, but even if both Randle and WCS leave he would still have to compete with Dakari, Lee, and Towns for minutes (and shots).
If Poythress comes back then you have Hawkins, the Harrisons on the wing, with Poythress and Dakari Johnson inside. Marcus Lee, Towns and some other guys off the bench. I think Poythress could be a top 15 pick next season. I like his size, motor, athleticism, and intangibles. He could obviously work on his game and get some range on his shot, but he has a lot of tools to work with.
… on the flip side, these guys should have declared after last year’s title game: Russ Smith (still not a lock for a first round pick), Chane Behanan (this guy missed this year and had to transfer), Mitch McGary, and probably Glen Robinson, Jr., too. Those guys draft stocks were high, now they are not with Chane basically being completely off the radar.
Ok, well, I am already looking forward to next year. The only thing better? What about Coach Cal vs. Coach K for the title?

Jester87ParticipantFunny how there’s plenty of UK fans negging whoever says anything that’s not "OMG Aaron Harrison is so great, he’s a lock for the top 15 picks". Truth is, even if he hit some big shots and he already made UK’s history, he averaged 10.2 ppg in his last 4 games, shooting 36% from the field (7.5 with 6-15 in the final four). He just went on an unsustainable hot streak shooting from deep for a few games and then he came down to Earth. So if we’re talking about Aaron Harrison, college basketball player, he did great things and he will always be remembered for his clutch shots in the tourney. But if we’re talking about Aaron Harrison, Nba prospect, there are still big question marks and it will be really tough for him to go in the first round. I haven’t seen him in the first round of any mock draft.

doubledribblerParticipantCome on Jester…Harrison is Kobe 2.0, but waaaay more clutch.
Yeah, I would have to agree with you. He hit some big shots, but it is not like he played very well. With that said, I think if he came out he would get drafted in the 1st. I don’t see any chance at him getting in the lottery, but I think someone would think he is worth a 1st. Also not sure who UK has coming in next year. It seems to be set in stone that whoever comes in is going to start, so that makes it harder to stay if there is a chance you go straight to the bench without even getting a fair chance to fight for the job.
