ballislyfe25Participantmaybe the 76ers give him a look with the Pelicans pick. He has the potential to be a very solid rotation player.

WalkaFlockaParticipantThat was a crazy dunk. One of the best I’ve seen this year.
Young’s been playing at an extremely high level the past two games, UConn and Wisconsin. He can really score the ball. Sets his feet well and has a quick release. He could be a good defender but he doesn’t seem to move his feet well enough to stay in front of players as Napier has made him look bad a few times tonight. He can get to the hoop, but he always seems to get in the most awkward positions. I think he’s ideally a 2 guard that fills it up in a 6th man role or a starter if he can continue to develop his slashing and defense.
I’m a huge fan and I think he’s a late lotto pick.

Land of GrantParticipantGreat post I was curious about what people thought of his D and potential role.
If he gets a coach that knows how to coach defensive fundamentals and basic scoring he could be an all-star.
Of course he could end up as inconsistent shooter guy with unfilfilled defensive potential and an awkward driving game.

doubledribblerParticipantWhen you watch UK play you see all these guys flying over top of the rim offensively. That has to be frustrating knowing that if they miss and you block out (well except you Michigain) that they might still get over top of you and throw it down.
Nice throw down by Young.

CameronCrazy11ParticipantJames Young’s profile on here has him listed as a “7” in athleticism, I think that’s due for a change at this point

Chilbert arenasParticipantHe’s been my favorite Wildcat all year in terms of draft prospects. I love his size, athleticism, and shooting translates. He and Randle are the only two I really think should be leaving for draft thought I know more are to join them.

King CaluchaParticipantIf he can be effective enough to bring spark off the bench and develop in a similar way to Jeremy Lamb, I think he’s worth a 8-12 spot.

OhCanada-ParticipantIn six tournament games he had only 4 assists. He took 61 shots and had 10 turnovers (which isnt that bad) with only 4 assists. He isnt a bad passer, he isnt necassarily selfish or inneffiecient, but to be a star player in the NBA at the wing position and have teams rely on you to have a high usage rate you have to look to creating oppurtunities for others. He defenitely has to work on that aspect of his game and that can only be learned by practicing in games, playmaking drills arent as effective in increasing skillsets as much as say shooting drills or ballhandling drills. Thats what seperates guys like Swaggy P from being relied on as a teams go to guy on the wing.
He reminds me alot of Demar Derozan as far as his cool calm demeanor and body type goes. He also has a very polished mid range game and a much better jumpshot especially at the same stage. Skillset is very different as James also is a very willing rebounder so Im not stating that is a valid comparison although I think with lots of playing time and patience like Derozan he can become a good playmaker. Hes right up there with Harris in my opinion not sure who I would take but those two definitely are 1a and 1b ahead of Stauskas and Lavine in my opinion.

lalailaParticipantI mostly agree with your comment.. but as super young prospect who still looks raw he is actually pretty good playmaker I would say..
first off all, he avg almost 2 assists and that’s more than both Wiggins and Parker who as a projected bigger stars have to be even bigger playmakers for others to succeed..
secondly I believe James had less oppurtunities because of their status..he was like 4th option at best with pretty good two ball handlers creating possesions most of the time (and Aaron didn’t beat him by much in assists still) , and Wiggins and Parker both were stars at their schools
outside of everything I have that feeling with Young that you see one or another play by him than matters even more than stats to say that he have a greatupside and I see allstar if he comes to his ceiling.. for me #1 shooting guard on a draft board

imAboutDatActionParticipantJames Young is a bad passer. yes, the boxscore says he averages almost 2 a game, but its mostly jus from dumping it to the post to Dakari or Randle.
James had alot of chances with the ball. he actually took the most shots on the UK team.
i like him as a prospect though. has good scoring potential with good size ( 6.6) and great length ( 6’11 wingspan). he has the tools to be a good defender down the road, but thats not part of his game right now.
i have James as the 2nd best SG in this draft. i have Stauskas #1.
as for the dunk, it was just plain nasty. he shock the arena with that one.

TyroberParticipantJames Young can play. I have had him in the lottery the entire year and that’s where I expect him to go.
