As a Knicks fan I am extremely disappointed that the Knicks have supposedly narrowed their PG search down to Curry, Evans, or Holiday. I was hoping that Jennings’ ability to shine in the media pushed him to the top of our big board. Here’s my breakdown of reasons for the Knicks to take/not take each player.

    Curry-
+’s – He has a true NBA skill in his phenomenal shooting.
-‘s – I still dont see him as a true PG despite the 08/09 season or his workouts. I see him having trouble guarding much stronger/quicker guards. I have trouble imagining him standing up to the intense New York media.

    Evans-
+’s – He has great handles and excellent ability to get to the hoop. He has a long frame with great wingspan.
-‘s – He has a poor shooting touch and very questionable intensity on defense. Not a very explosive athlete. More of a scoring guard that doesnt play well without the ball in his hands. The Knicks need more of an athletic unselfish player.

    Holiday-
+’s – Unselfish player with great size. His game reminds me alot of Chris Duhon’s but with better size and much higher ceiling. Does everthing ok.
-‘s – Does not excel at anything. He can be a serviceable PG like Duhon and even better but does not have the ability to take over a game. Solid starter but never a star.

I think that Jennings, Teague, or Flynn fit us better in that order. The good news is that there is a possibility that these 3 players will be gone by 8.

Share your thoughts on my diagnosis’ and further insight.

I like it. Utah has New York’s first rounder next season and I want a high pick!

Evans and Holiday won’t make much of a positive impact next season and Curry will likely be gone.

If I was a Knicks fan I would want Jonny Flynn. Holiday would be a good choice too, just not next season.

Teague might actually be the best fit for the Knicks. He is a very good shooter and a proven PG on a great team. Wake was #1 when he ran the point. He is too much of a reach at 8 though. I really just want to take a chance on Jennings.

i don’t think curry or evans will be around. curry seems to be shooting up the draft boards and i could see the teams with sg’s playing pg (minnesota, gs) taking evans to help bring the ball up and offset defensive mismatches.

then i would say it comes down to holiday or flynn. i don’t think jennings fits in d’antoni’s system because he’s not a good shooter. teague would be a nice fit, but i don’t think he has the potential of a holiday or the pg savvy of flynn.

i disagree with the -‘s on holiday. i think he has star potential. he was the gatorade high school player of the year. his stats kind of got battered at ucla due to ben howland’s system and the depth of guards on that team. they played lee, anderson, collison, holiday, roll and shipp. that a lot of players sharing minutes. on top of that, the seniors had the ball in their hands most the time.

i think flynn would be a great fit. he’s a new york kid and has already had a few great moments in the garden. he’s got great heart and is an underrated shooter.

no way. Teague is 6-1 and is a not a true PG. He is a scoring PG and he is not a great passer. I think Curry or Holiday would be best…

Jrue Holiday is a very raw talented player yet he did not prove himself in College Basetball so imagine what he will do in the NBA. He will take a long time to peak and he would have been much better off staying in college because he needs to prove himself. I would much rather pick Jeff Teague or Stephen Curry because even though Teague is young, he proved himself in college. Also, Curry is going to be the most mature rookie because he is one of the only good players that have stayed four years in college and he has dominated college basketball. Tyreke Evans is a good player and I know he played point guard for Memphis but he is not a true point guard. I believe that he would be a better 2 guard and I think any NBA team could develop him into a good shooter.
If Brandon Jennings is available for the Knicks pick, which could be very unlikely, I would for sure pick him because he is the second best point guard, behind Ricky Rubio, in the draft class.

Knicksboy, I like what you said. Should I give you +1 or -1? I’m not sure anymore…

Jennings is kind of overrated. I don’t see him helping any team win any games in the future.

Jennings will be there at 8, but I hope we dont pick him. We can’t rebuild around a guy, especially a pg, who has such a terrible attitude and is so immature. How is he going to LEAD a team? No one is going to follow him. I would take Evans, Flynn, Curry, Holiday, in that order. If none of them are there then some one like Harden or Hill fell and I would take them.

Jennings would be a steal at 14 for Phoenix………He is the quickest guard bar none and he has swag.

flynn is a leader and can help bring lebron to ny
he is linked to lebron through lebrons agent or sometin like that

and if jordan hill falls id pick him and buy a pick to pick lawson later

Curry is the ideal pick for NY because he is already a star with the media. They don’t need Evans because they don’t need anymore selfish guards. Holiday has the highest upside and is fast and athletic and skilled enough to excel in D’Antoni’s fast-paced system.
