TheMOSTHATEDoneParticipantHello,
I have noticed that Ridley is not mentioned in any mockdraft (Maybe he is not good enough)
He started slow, but played very well in the last Texas games, even blocking shots, and looking a bit more mobile and leaner.
Question for you guys, is he an NBA player? or a fatty bust who will never play a single game in the league? perhaps a 4 year college player and a role player type in the league?

juves4783Participantpittman 6-10, 290. ridley 6-10, 285. ridley may be a little more mobile, but come on, both are slow compared to the rest of the college bigs. the thing with each is that they both know how to use their big frames to show in the post and they both have a soft touch around the basket. but both have no range on their jumpers and are poor free throw shooters.
stat line comparison though.
dex pittman, sr year – 19.1 mpg, 10.4 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 1.9 bpg, 65% fg, 56% ft
cameron ridley, so year – 25.6 mpg, 11.2 ppg, 8.2 rpg, 2.2 bpg, 55%fg, 63% ft
if you put them on the same mpg, they have pretty similar stat line.

JoeWolf1What doesn’t show up in stats is that Pittman was a 390 lb college freshman who complete transformed his body, and the 303 he showed up to the combine at was viewed as a good thing. Ridley is actually quite a bit faster, and if he got in great shape, he be sitting at around 265-270.
Youre also comparing a senior to a sophomore, and I think it matters than Ridley is both further along and in good enough shape to stay on the court for longer than Pittman.
Pittman to Ridley is an easy comparison, but its lazy. Ridley is a better prospect IMO.

DaGuywhodidurmaParticipantThat’s a great observation wolf, at this point in his career ridley is as good as a Pittman after 4 years of college.
Maybe he can be an "prime" Eric dampier type of center if he stays in school and develops further.

JoeWolf1Yeah, I think he has that possibility. I was thinking Jamaal Magliore, but they were fairly similar players…they used their strength and long arms to rebound and make up for not being the fastest guys on the block, both guys had one double double season, and both came off the bench and started at different points in their careers.

terrancebowerParticipantI think he’s got legit NBA talent. He might not be in top shape, but he can lose a few pounds… and if he can’t manage that, obviously he doesn’t want it that badly. You gotta think, if this guy can’t put in the work to drop 20 lbs, then he’ll never put in the work to become a good player. But I think he’ll do it, and wind up getting picked in the second round in the 2015 or 2016 draft. He has the potential to be a solid role player imo.

JoeWolf1NBA player. Ridley needs some work in the conditioning department, but he’s got really long arms and is a pretty solid all around center. I think he’s a 4 year guy, maybe 3 if he has a big year, which he very well could have, especially given how much he improved from his freshman year, and early this season.
Not quite lotto talent, but I think he’d be worth a gamble in the 20s if he shows some willingness to get himself in better shape. He’s a better natural athlete than Pittman, and is much further along at an earlier age. I think he’s most likely 2nd string material in the NBA, but I think his ceiling is a starter..if he gets in better shape.
I wouldn’t be shocked if he put up like 14p 9r 3b next year at UT.

Kevin6CDParticipantIf we’re comparing him to his expectations coming out of HS, he’s a fatty bust. That being said, I think he will get a chance to play in the NBA because of his size.

HaleParticipantHe and Drummond were considered near-equals in high school. Now Drummond is on the verge on being a star in the NBA and Coleman is fighting for backup minutes at Syracuse.

Kokayne_DawkinzParticipantI remember when ESPN had him as the number one prospect for awhile saying he was an sure thing.lol another bad one was Avery Bradley in 09 as the number one overall recruit over Wall and Cousins.lol

Fun one partyParticipantIf i had a NBA team and i needed a big man i would draft Ridley.I was very impressed with Ridley in his game against ASU and he had some good moments during the season he gave Joel Embiid fits in a Texas win over Kansas as Ridley held Embidd to 3-9 shooting 33% and only 8 points on the other end Ridley had 9 points and 10 rebounds and 4 block shots. In the first game Ridley played Embiid he shot 5-7,shooting 71.4 FG% and he grabbed 6 rebounds and once again he blocked 4 shots in the loss to Kansas.Ridley dominated Austin from Baylor with a 20 points and 10 rebounds performance in a win against Baylor. Also Cameron Ridley put 17 points and 9 rebounds against Michigan State.
Yes the kid has proven he can ball against future NBA players and yes a GM that needs a center should draft him.Imagine this kid getting much better he is so young and yet so good.
