I feel that John Henson is one of the few players on the Bucks that has the potential to be an above average player in the league. Yet for some reason, he isn’t getting consistent minutes on the worst team in the NBA. Our season has been over for a while now, yet Larry Drew continues to give veterans such as Zaza, Jeff Adrien, and Udoh minutes over Henson. At this point I think a team like the Bucks should have a promising player like Henson on the court as much as possible, yet he averaged only 23 minutes in March.

I’m starting to think that Henson isn’t in the Bucks future plans for whatever reason. I know there is some history between him and Larry Drew, also heard he might not be a hard worker. Either way, Henson still produces when he’s given consistent minutes.

I’m a bit biased as a Bucks fan, but I think if the Bucks were to move Henson they could possibly get a 1st round pick in return.

I’m interested to see what you guys think of Henson. What do you think the Bucks could get in return for him if they were to move him in the offseason?

I’ve noticed the same thing. The guy has lots of upside. I would love for my Raptors to scoop him up. I don’t know what we’d be able to offer, but something to think about…

I’m not sure how much you guys value Terrance Ross, but I know the Bucks loved him and he was high on our draft board. I think contracts would match up and the Bucks could really use a wing player like Ross. Not sure if you if you guys need Henson in your front court, but would that be a reasonable trade? Or is Ross to valuable?

Definitely a reasonable offer since he Henson has a lot of upside as well, and would be an upgrade over Amir Johnson eventually. Although Amir is holding it down, and doing a nice job don’t get me wrong, he’s definitely on the below average side as far as starting power forwards go, and he seems to have pretty much reached him peak.

Overall though, I personally think Ross is too valuable because of the floor spacing he provides. It’s a big reason for the turnaround this year, because the spacing was horrible when we had Rudy Gay. And he might never reach it, but his potential is sky high with his physical tools. I guess we do have a 1st round pick around 20ish, maybe a good PF slips alittle bit. That would be perfect… if Lowry re-signs…

     reasons

    1. He says he is not trying to tank.

    • This means that he is actually using strategy and trying to win. I always respect honesty, but if he is trying to truely put in some wins, then he should be fired. I believe they are tanking and i do not respect liars, I hate phoney people, you can fool the public but you can’t fool true fans. Fire Larry drew, get a coach that is honest and makes the team compete.

    2. The season has been over, give players like Giannis and Henson 35 mins a game.

    • Those players need to be thrown out in the water, and forced to swim. If Giannis is a franchise player, he should be developing skills on the court. They should give him minutes like KD in his rookie season, make him hate losing so if they do have a good team, he will refuse to leave. As for Henson, the same. Fire Larry Drew, get a coach that can develop young talent.

    3. He sucked as the Atlanta coach, no plays always played Bibby ahead of teague.

    • Fire this Coach

    4. Can you see Larry Drew being an NBA coach that can be in the conference Finals. He just doesnt execute well enough, I dont see any players ever overachieve in his system

I don’t think Larry Drew is a great coach, but really… there’s no way in hell he admits the team is tanking. Nobody does…

I loved the hiring of Drew- but I have no clue what he is doing with his rotations.  Yes, some of it is due to injury but some of it is flat out unexplainable.  I hope they pull the plug on Drew this summer and if they land a top three pick it might be the right time for Hammond to admit his mistake and axe Drew while everyone is excited about the new Wiggins/Parker/Embiid addition.

Yes. also if he does get the axe, and he cannot turn it around soon. Who would hire a coach that won 15 games in the season who did not try to tank. Just be honest and say we are learning to win, like what Scotty Brooks says about OKC when they stunk. I will never hire a coach with a good contract who tried to win, and stunk. I mean you have Hornacheck who everyone thought was gonna stink, yet he has maximized Gerald Green, Dragic, PJ tucker, Morris twins. This jabroni coach has given the worst careers to Neal, Sanders, Mayo, Henson, and Giannis. The only player he has made decent is Brandon Knight. Fire this coach and give someone like Patrick Ewing a chance

The rotations in Milwaukee have been effed up for a very long time. Sanders should’ve gotten minutes early-on, and Giannis should’ve played as much as possible from day one.

Henson seems to have been in and out of their line up and with Sanders injured, the front court has almost been played by committee. I agree that Henson is still a good prospect and putting up nearly 11ppg and 7rpg along with 1.74bpg is a good return for a 2nd year big on a struggling team.

I feel that the Bucks should play the young core of Knight, Giannis and Henson as much as possible, they will add a high draft pick to that, probably get Sanders back next year, so that is a half decent core going forward.

Yeah, his minutes have really bothered me this year.  Actually, the rotation of Larry drew really isn’t a rotation at all.  I think he draws straws before the game to figure out who’s going to play and who isn’t.  There is zero rhyme or reason to any of his lineups, subs, etc…

You’re right though, Henson does offer a lot of upside.  Tall, long, athletic, good hands, can knock down the 16-18 foot jumper, a couple decent post moves, great shot blocker, good rebounder.  Still has to fill that frame of his out, but he’s already shown he’s able to put on a little weight.  I like his upside.  It sucks that he hasn’t gotten consistent playing time this year.  Instead, Drew would rather play guys like Zaza Pachulia 25 minutes a night than give his young "Bucks" consistent PT.

I’m from Milwaukee and I think he might be trade bait, If the Bucks get the 1st pick then they will select Jabari Parker which will cause Giannis to be a stretch power forward which he could take advantage of his skill set especially once he bulks up. The Bucks could feature a starting frontcourt of

    Larry Sanders

    Giannis

    Jabari Parker

which would be crazy I think the Bucks can package John Henson & OJ Mayo for an upgrade in the Backcourt

OJ Mayo John Henson 4 Eric Gordon works

In regard to Henson’s lack of minutes pretty much since the all star break it’s called tanking guys! Had him on my fantasy squad earlier in the year and he abosultely proved he can successfully play efficiently and effectively in this league.

So Henson should be getting way more minutes but he has 1 post move and if the other teams has seen him before its easy for him to be stopped no problem. Giannis will not be traded at all he is a small forward with point guard skills so I don’t see why some people think he should be a 4 but larry drew should have been fired before he was hired that’s how bad hes been. I think a college coach like shaka smart or fred hoiberg would be a good fit.
