festar35ParticipantI am wondering what you think the near future for your NBA team is looking like and what you would want them to do?
After getting Dirk back which is priority #1.
In the case of the Mavericks their is a big guy in Minnesota that I would love them to try an acquire. That guy is Nikola Pekovic I fell he would be awesome next to Dirk.
The question is how would they manage to get him and the only thing that keeps coming to me is the offer of cap space and if the Mavs miss the playoffs the 14th pick for this draft. A package of the 1st pick (2014 or future) along with Shane Larkin and Brandon Wright who has proven to b very capable at NBA level. The other guy that I would love to see in Dallas is Luol Deng, he would fit awesomely in the line-up and I would love Marion back as a 6th man at 3,4 position. If Dirk came back cheap enough, I am pretty sure they have the cap space for both, but either would be awesome.
If they signed Deng and had that lottery pick I am looking at guys with high upside and that Mavs feel like taking a risk on like LaVine, Grant, Warren or Capela.

canesboy6ParticipantHeat will undoubtedly have an interesting new couple years. Obviously the big 3 can opt out, but we also are probably losing a ton of role players, and its the right time to kind of reshuffle the supporting cast anyways. Only Chris Anderson, Norris Cole, and Haslem are under contract. Haslem has a player option for 4 million which he seems like a lock to opt in for as thats a little more than he is worth. Allen, Battier, James Jones, maybe Rashard Lewis, I anticipate 2 or 3 of them will retire and probably none of them will be back, maybe 1 of Lewis or Jones. I think/hope this is Chalmers last year.
2014 is a bad free agency class. There isn’t more than a handful of even quality starters out there IMO so I think the whole landscape of the league is shifting towards big shakeup in 2015. I think largely because of this, all 3 of the big 3 opt in and give it one more go. It might be a little awkward because Riley would certainly try to fill the roster with 1 year contracts or team options to retain 2015 flexibility, but bigger mountains have been moved. Maybe we can talk a guy like Lowry into taking less money, but that seems like a pipe dream because it would have to be a LOT less, and would still require a S&T most likely, which we lack assets to facilitate except this years draft pick and maybe Haslem and Norris Cole. (which I would totally do). 2015 has some massive names, and even better role players. Rondo, Jeremy Lin, Dragic, Reggie Jackson, Afflalo, Wesley Matthews, Aldridge, Thad Young, but most importantly the Centers, Gasol, Hibbert, Asik, Jordan, maybe Al Jefferson, and Robin Lopez are all guys who I think could be had in obviously different circumstances but could be part of rebuilding the nucleus. 2015 clearly has better options to improve a team.
I’m not in denial. I think the only true threat in the league for Lebron is LAC, and i think they have an excellent pitch. They don’t have cap space or a way to get cap space so it would have to be an S & T, which would cost the Clips Deandre Jordan or Blake Griffin, don’t see any other way, except for some big ass package including like Reddick and shit which I don’t think Riley would do. I think Lebron trusts Riley and just got married and is trying to keep this thing in Miami. I honestly do, but if he’s gone, its to the Clips. I just don’t see it happening this year, nobody in the league really has any flexibility to build something better than what we already have and he doesn’t seem unhappy with the organization. 2015 could present some brighter opportunities for him, but it could also be a huge opportunity for Riley to retool.
Wade should probably opt in. Whose gonna give him the max, or years now? He’s not leaving Miami. He honestly might be ready to retire after one more year. Bosh is a more interesting case, but whose gonna give him the max? Probably not more than the bottom third of the league would have the resources or willingness to do it. I wouldn’t mind him staying or going to be honest as long as he was replaced by a similar or better player, which is managable. So I think they stick it out one more year as a nucleus, and in 2015 the Heat are MAJOR players in free agency once again with not $1 of money guaranteed right now, although the big 3 all have player options for that year as well.

King CaluchaParticipantWhat makes you think Pek would be great next to Dirk? The KLove/Pek experiment is not working well. Clearly Pek is not a rim protector, while Dirk isn’t a great defender either.

MrManalo43Participantso would he possibly be a good frontcourt mate for Nerlens Noel, who is/was indeed a vicious rim-protector?

King CaluchaParticipantActually, that wouldn’t be so terrible. I’d give it a shot if I needed my team to win and assuming Noel will be back to good form. However Philly does not need to win next season. They’re better off gathering assets and waiting for next FA period.

r377ParticipantAs a pistons fan I was waiting years for the Ben Gordon and Charlie V contract to expire.
Now it seems I have to wait for Josh Smith and Jennings’ contracts to expire. Probably losing Greg Monroe this offseason just adds salt to the wound….
