Now Tyler Ennis put his name in the draft.

Who do you prefer Tyler Ennis (pure poing guard) or Marcus Smart (athletic point guard) with the first point guard taking in the draft????

I think Smart is physically ready to come in and play/start from day one.  I think Ennis still needs a bit of seasoning.  So if you are a team that needs to insert one of these guys right away, choose Marcus and if you can have them work their way into the lineup, choose Tyler.

Would LOVE to see the Ennis land in Chicago.

I take Smart. If he developed a jump shot he could be great. Most players learn how to shoot eventually. He makes turnovers…and needs work on the 3 ball….but he also makes a lot of good things happen too.

Ennis to me is Mike Conley. Very solid. Will be part of a winning culture one day. But unlikely to ever be an all-star. I see Marcus Smart as Baron Davis. A strong pg who can get you 20 points a game and set the standard for intensity.

i like smart as well.  he’s going to make whatever team that selects him happy.  he’s a consistent jumper away from having all the scoring tools.  his ball handling can get better but his perimeter defense and competitive nature are things that ennis doesn’t have just yet.

don’t get me wrong though.  ennis will be good, but i think he’ll peak at starter and never make that next jump to all-star.

Marcus Smart, only because I feel Smart has superstar potential while Ennis does not. Like stated above, I see Ennis having a ceiling of a Mike Conley type of player, good starter, but not necessarily an allstar/complete gamechanger. The only knock on Smarts game right now is his jumper, and once he improves it/shot selection he will be a more dangerous  matchup than he already is…
