Check these vids.If this guy was coming out this year(forget what happened in the nba for a moment),would you pick Parker over him?If yes, why?Again forget about what happened in nba for now.

If you say better shooter, well here are some facts…Mystery man has shot 42-74from 3 as a sophomore.Parker started the year on fire,11/17 over his first 3 games.Since then, hes 27/90 for 30%…Anyways here are the vids:

This just shows the point that was made relating to the “which of the 7 will be busts” post. A percentage of high drafted players will be busts in the NBA. Sometimes it is obvious why they are busts and other times it just happens. A major job of a GM is to attempt to project which players will improve at the next level and which ones have topped out there potential in college and whose games will fit with the NBA game and whose games were better fitted to the college game.

I really dont many similarities between Parker and Williams besides their height Jabari can score in a variety of ways (in many more than Williams could). If your trying to make the point that Parker is likely to bust like DWill, your not convincing me lol.

Im not trying to prove anything, especially not that he will bust.I like Parker, love his humble demeanor.

I watched all Dukes games this year, and In the beginning of the year, yes he looked amazing from everywhere on the court, showed an awesome midrange game with the stepbacks, pullups…But as the conference play started, and competition got tougher, that awesome midrange game became less and less impressive…So no i disagree,Parker hasnt shown consistently against good defense that he can score in more ways than Arizona Williams could.

But no im not trying to prove Parker will bust, its just a question from a fan.Id love to see him grow into one of the top 5 sfs in the league.

Don’t know why Parker is the projected first pick on this site. I guess Embiid’s injury is what put Parker above him but I’ll take Wiggins’ defensive ability (which is far superior to Parker’s) and his athletic ability over Parker’s any day.

To touch on the point that Jonus_Grumby was making…

The word bust is thrown around too much nowadays. As a GM, you can choose the best players in the draft and still ahve them under achieve because of a lack of effort on the teams part to develop the player… you can’t just be a babysitter and say "OK, we picked you, now go out there and show us what you can do." Players need to be developed and given opportunity.

Look at a guy like Tobias Harris… he got traded to a place where he could get an opportunity and some minutes and he now looks like he could be a borderline future all-star. The Bucks may have thought he was a "bust" when in reality their coaching/developmental staff were the problem.

Derrick Williams probably did have around as much potential as Jabari has now, and maybe his ceiling is still comparable, but it has to be properly harnessed. If you look back at Wolves draft choices in general, they haven’t exactly panned out with the exception of Kevin Love, and Pekovic (who was developed overseas more so than in the NBA)…. and there have been maaaaany lottery picks in Minnesota.

Andrew Wiggins compared to Jabar Parker defensively is like comparing Scottie Pippen to Jimmer Freddete.

They will both be all stars one day, Wiggins would fit better at some places and Parker would fit better at other places. Parker is a lot more skilled and there might be a team looking for offense rather than a defensive monster like Wiggins. If the Cavs had to pick between them I would go with Wiggins since we play better at a more up tempo style.

parker is a better defender then most would think he isn’t  a low post defender for sure but man to man he may be ok at the next level he covers a lot of ground and he is able to block shots a great help defender for sure.

Neggedfolyfe……if you watched any duke games this year you saw jabari was always late on his rotations.  I have not.seen such a.terrible help defender in a.while.  His.rotations.we’re.non.existent.  He got.posterized.at Notre.dame for not.rotating.at.all.  He used his underrated athleticism to block some.shots but he was a.bad.team defender.  I’m wondering.where.you.got.that he was a great help defender from?  Look at the tape…

watched the tape The team as a whole aren’t the best defenders if you watched the last games as a team defensively they couldn’t stop anyone from scoring inside also parker is playing full time down low.

his rotations are horrible? when every time you look players are letting their man get by them and you got to help …your not going to look good all the time.  The blocks I have seen him make when helping are good the effort I see sometimes is good he has a lot of work to do on the defense of end I have watched a good deal of parkers games so for anyone to say he doesn’t show flashes of being  ok defender at some point is a liar

every one talks about wiggins  being a two way player and a good defender hes averaging a block and a steal a game

Jabari parker is also averaging a block and steal a game ppl act like parker cant get any better and that’s what I don’t understand  he still has a lot of room to grow on both ends.

serisouly if you think dukes defensive woes are a parkers problem and hes rotation are the worst your wrong if they could hold their man  somewhat he wouldn’t have to fully help. I have seen him execute some great help blocks  or just get in the way as a one on one low post defender he has work to do but hes quick and big he has 2 things working for him.  he plays HUGE and is quicker then what he looks I see him become and ok defender at least .
