IhateusernamesParticipantIm sorry, but this kid is incredibly talented. Looks like Shareef Abdur-Rahim. 6’10" and just blowing by people off the dribble. I cant believe he is not listed in the mock draft this year. If somebody gets him in the 2nd rd it will be like striking oil in the backyard.
He should be taken in the top half of the first rd just off his physical gifts alone.

llperezAgreed and I’ve stated numerous times that he is a first rounder. He has had some stretches where he disappears but it’s not due to effort/skill. He just gets limited by defenses that don’t leave him. The fact he doesn’t have a pg doesn’t help. But skill alone from 6-10 athlete and your gonna tell me he doesn’t get drafted? Ridiculous

OhCanada-ParticipantI agree to an extent. Ive been routing for Powell for a while although he has added some weight he is not a very powerful guy and strwngth is big in the NBA. I dont think hes blowing by guys in the NBA like that, and he is definitely not strong enough to bang in the big league. He is like a swiss army knife extremely versatile player great touch and good jumper still somemore upside not a finished prospect. He does have great touch, handles and all around speed for a 6,10 PF. Id say early 2nd round pick but who needs a backup offensive PF that lacks strength in the NBA.

ph90702If the Knicks switch to the triangle, he would be an excellent fit.

IhateusernamesParticipantHe was blowing by guys with the left handed dribble today. And I disagree about strength being paramount in the NBA today. With skinny guys like Anthony Davis, Bosh, T. Chandler, Thaddeus Young etc. playing the 4 and 5 you dont need to be a hulk to survive anymore.
I didnt get to watch any Stanford games before today, and maybe its just me being blown away my 1st time seeing him, but those physical gifts translate to the NBA. Hard to believe a guy like Willie Cauley Stein with no offensive skil l at all is being considered a lottery guy and Powell is not.

GoJOSH HUESTISParticipantShould have a nice career. He should blow by most PF in the NBA when he hits his prime since most aren’t speed demons and Dwight will get stronger and faster. He’s already 245 so he’s good size wise. Shawn Marion was never powerful but he out scored and out rebounded powerful big men. Same with K.G,Bosh,P.Gasol etc. skill is wayyyyyy more important than power
