TarHeelRavenParticipantDayton beats Cuse 55-53 after Ennis 3 pointer at the buzzer bounces off the back rim. Syracuse drops like 6 of their last 8 games after starting the year 25-0. Syracuse dropped head scratchers to Boston College and Georgia Tech at home and lost to NC State in the first round of the ACC tournament. I knew the Cuse wasn’t 25-0 good, but their landslide from the top was stunning. CJ Fair’s career is over at Syracuse after having an all-american season and ennis is most likely going pro. Congrats to Dayton and Archie Miller after great wins over Ohio State and now Syracuse.

ultrablue123ParticipantEnnis gets to the basket at will near the end of the game then pulls up for jumpers for his last two shots.
Dunno what he was thinking.

3 No Biases 3ParticipantYeah, that was pretty ridiculous…not to mention he had an ideal driving lane on the last shot down 2.

Kinguy11ParticipantWhen Dayton defeated Ohio State it halted my chances of a perfect bracket very early. Now they’ve gone and taken out a team a picked to go to the final four. Dayton may as well go on and win the tourney now because they’ve already screwed with my bracket enough as it is.

Malik-UniversalParticipanti feel like the zone almost hurt them cuz it allows the other team to take time off the clock… and syracuse isnt exactly tht good of a scoring team so it already limits their offensive possessions… they should’ve pressed way more and played some man defense

HomerKangParticipantI hope Grant goes pro. I hope my Sixers take Wiggins with their first pick, Grant with the Pelicans pick, and Fair with one of their 2nd round picks. That would be one of my dream draft results.

HomerKangParticipant@NeggedFolyfe. I hear what you’re saying, but no, he doesn’t remind me of Thad. Right now, the Sixers have Thad mostly at the 4, and Grant is thinner than him. So, most likely, if they draft him, they will start him at the 3, alongside Thad and Noel. Then you’ll round out your starting lineup with Wiggins and MCW in the back, and you’ll get a very dynamic athletic 5 that can score in a variety of ways in the open court. Grant also plays better D than Thad and can help Noel swat some shots at the defensive end, and send the ball the other way so that Thad and Wiggins can finish strong to hoop or shoot the 3 with Wiggins’ ever-so-sweet stroke. And if you’re as much of a Cuse fan and have seen them play as much as I have all season (live, I might add), you’ll notice that Grant and even CJ Fair can quickly recover enough down the open court, and follow through any miss from their teammates with strong dunk statements of their own, on the offensive end. Both Fair and Grant are quicker and more aggressive than Thad. Again, I wouldn’t be too worry about Thad if they draft Grant since Thad will be a 4 and Grant will be a 3.

NeggedFolyfethad has a better offensive game and is proven n the league im suspect of all cuse players they seem to not fit into offensive schemes in the league and can grant do anything besides dunk? I like wiggins at the 2 or 3 but im not sold on grant being a sf yet no offesnse outside of inside scoring and dunks ppl biggest knocks on one of my fav prospect is he cant shoot no Grant is a player with no real offense and cant shoot.

HomerKangParticipantThen we can agree to disagree: Thad is less athletic than both Fair AND Grant. If you have been watching most of Syracuse’s games this season, then you’d know what I mean. Grant will be a steal for the Sixers around the 10 – 15th pick. He was the one who literally kept the Orangemen alive in close games against some of the toughest opponents this year. When have you seen Thad do that for the Sixers ? Syracuse may not have produced too many sure fire NBA hits compared to other top schools like Duke or Kentucky, but you can’t argue against Syracuse products like one Carmelo Anthony and more-recently, MCW, in particular.

abrowniiParticipantDon’t blame Tyler Ennis for the lost. If you want to mention Tyler Ennis’ name say the Freshman Point who carried this team on his back game after game. Also in this lost against Dayton, where the hell was Trevor Cooney and Jerami Grant. Cooney was close to scoreless, and wasn’t aggressive at all the whole game. Grant disappear offensively but that was largely due to the fact that Syracuse couldnt stretch the floor opening up his slashing lanes. Usually I’ll talk about Fair, but he picked his performance in the second half. Christmas played a great game. But I hope Cuse find some more perimeter scoring ASAP. I know 2015 G Malachi Richardson (Trenton Catholic) and if they can lock up 2015 G Isaiah Briscoe (Roselle Catholic), and match them with 2014 F Chris McCollugh (spell Last name wrong) that’ll be Syracuse next legit NCAA contender. All in all, Without Tyler Ennis this Syracuse team would be in the NIT or worst.

machu46ParticipantCooney was aggressive shooting the ball. He just missed a couple early on, including a wide open 3 that he airballed, and got fouled on another 3 that went uncalled, and then Boeheim pulled him for the rest of the game until Grant fouled out.
Grant’s game was frustrating. Dayton switched on every screen, so Grant had Dayton’s PG defending him pretty much the entire 1st half, where he had about a foot on his man, and he did a great job of sealing the PG so that Ennis could make an easy pass over the top for easy dunks. Ennis just never saw it, and for whatever reason, Boeheim apparently never pointed it out either. Syracuse really blew the game simply because of that. Xmas and Grant were open all night, but they would only get them the ball when they didn’t have position. Syracuse has been a poor team in term’s of feeding big men for awhile now though, so that isn’t much of a surprise.
At the end of the day, this team is just a poor shooting team, and they all got cold the same night. Ennis couldn’t buy a bucket until the last 5 minutes. CJ, Cooney, and Grant couldn’t get anything to go down the entire night.
This team so obviously needed to take advantage of fast break opportunities, but that’s one of the things Ennis just isn’t comfortable with. Grant and Gbinije had at least 5-10 alley-oop opportunities in the fast break last night, but Ennis just refuses to throw them.
At the end of the day, I think this team overachieved early in the season. This team wasn’t one of Syracuse’s best, but they played like it for those first 25 games.

Land of GrantParticipantHonestly I think Tyler Ennis is overrated. In the L, he won’t be an above-average shooter, athlete, passer, rebounder, scorer, or defender (probably). All this nebulous stuff about intangibles and "running an offense" is just disguising the fact he has no major skills, and he completely messed up the final two possessions in that game.
0- Posted on: Sun, 03/23/2014 - 5:12am #881474

kazamParticipantHe also scored the previous eight or so points to even keep Cuse afloat. Yes he could of gotten better looks at the end of the game, but without him they wouldnt have been in the position to do so.
