ibe12ParticipantI saw TJ Warren play for the first time against Duke this weekend and felt like he was one the most efficient offensive players I saw all year. He reminded me a lot of Jamal Mashburn. I never hear many people talk about him for some reason as a lottery pick. Can anyone tell me their thoughts on Warren.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantHe might not be a lottery pick..But i think he’ll end up being 1 of the 15 best players from this draft….I think he’s not rated higher becuz there are questions about how his game will translate to the pros..He’s not a great shooter, his 1 on 1 skills are average,he lack quickness,he’s not an explosive athlete and he’s not a good ball handler..
But he is a very polished offensive player that can score in a variety of ways…He knows how to get buckets…His built, his movement on the court and his style of play reminds me of John Drew,a guy that was 1 of the top scorers in the 80s….

TarHeelRavenParticipantThere’s Dougie Buckets and then there’s TJ buckets. Guy just knows how to put the ball in the hole. As RudeBoy said, he doesn’t have any outstanding physical qualities, he just knows how to play. He’ll make it in the league for sure.

FastAndFuriousParticipantIdk why but to me he kind of reminds me of Paul Pierce far as not being dominant at anything much but is a very efficent scorer who scores alot.
Could be wrong tho

kazamParticipantI think this will be an unpopular comparison but I think of Warren how I always thought of Paul Pierce, lacking some athleticism, but hes a very crafty scorer who just seems to get it done. Scores in a variety of ways, saw a stat saying that he took and hit the most runners in college basketball so I’m not quick to say he isnt a good 1v1 scorer. Even without his athleticism he finishes around the rim really well.
Im not saying hes going to be paul pierce but I think Warren can really score, his offense is years beyond age. Hes a solid solid player.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantI see some of Pierce in his game…Neither guy is a great athlete, but both guys move well without the ball, has that old school game and can score in a variety of ways…
But Pierce has a better 1st step, better court vision and is a better shooter…A lack of those things are whats keeping Warren from being rated in the lottery…And if i remember it right Pierce was considered a top 5 pick, alot of people were surprised he fell to 10….

theballerwayParticipantBut I think your selling Pierce short on athletism. I think his build being so think might diguise it be he was a really good athlete. But i understand the comparison if we talkingthe older PP.
Definately a throw back player. I think hell be fine in the league(situation dependant). Anywhere from 10-15th pick Id say

Dale WorthingtonParticipantSo excited tonight.
Xavier is my favorite team in college hoops and TJ Warren may be my favorite player.
This is gonna be a gun fight.

Sabdiego12345678Participanttj warren reminds me of paul pierce aswell
Pierce’s stats are as follows (junior Season) 20.4 ppg 6.8 rbs .560 fg% .339 3pt% 2.6 assist 1.1 stl 1.1 blocks
Tj warren (sophomore) 24.8 ppg 7.2 rbs 5.25 fg% .227 3pt% 1.1 ast 1.7 stls .6 blks the assist would be higher if tj had more help but all of the stats are very comparable with tj having the edge in 3 and PP having the edge in 4… however this is tjs sophomore season and that was pierces junior season.
pierces sophomore season stats are 16.3 ppg 6.8 rbs 2.1 ast .8 blocks 1.7 steals .8 blks .488 fg%
also the thing about warren is his work ethic and that people always say he has lack of athleticism but he can put up posters as i saw him do many times in high school but he generally chooses the best shot over a highlight thats why he is so efficent he also has the lost art of the floater. also him averaging almost 25 with only making 31 3s is outstanding
