King WizardParticipantReally shows up in those big games huh? Further proof that those of you questioning him are right. Guy has no consistency at this level. Might put it together several years from now but thats the problem….might. 7 for 21?!?! Hahaha

Chilbert arenasParticipantThis has gotten ridiculous, one day he’s God’s gift to basketball the next he’s the most overrated player ever. Some of you need to stop making Wiggins career a pis$ing contest with other members on this site and just enjoy watching these guys grow and develop, none of us are right all the time. And for goodness sake he still had 22 and 7.

MopgrassParticipantPeople are just being silly about Wiggins now. No one says anything every time Marcus Smart lays an egg.

unbelievaParticipantYou can’t find one college freshman that’s not going to struggle from time to time. It was clear he was a little off. But he was aggressive. Which is still very promising. What did he end with? 22 and 7? It clearly wasn’t pretty but seeing him stay aggressive is one huge positive I’ll take away.

max23ParticipantIn and out of the bandwagon lol:)…
In my opinion, the difference between this game and the last 2,was the fact he got guarded very well by Dustin Hogue,a 6’6 guard.Against Oklahoma state,as good as Smart and Brown are defensively, they are 6’3-6’4 so it was easy for Wiggins to shoot over them. And well he wasnt guarded by tall good defenders against WestVirginia either. Not so easy against Hogue…But when he stopped shooting contested shots, and went to the hole, wow that first step is amazing!Obviously his handle is not awesome right now,but he has to be more agressive going to the hole,no need for all those contested jumpers, especially at the college level.

jwall1ParticipantThis really is a ridiculous post. I am not the biggest fan of Wiggins, but I mean comeon 7-21 is not awful and atleast he was aggressive. One of my biggest critiques on Wiggins has been his lack of aggressiveness and how he has at times been disengaged throughout games, but since Embiid has gone down he has really been consistently present and aggresive, which makes me like him more than I used to (although not more than Jabari). Did he have the best shot selection today, no, but he is still raw offensively and needs to get stronger so games like this where he does not shoot as well should be expected. His fight and defensive intensity were also solid today, and if he keeps it up Kansas should do well in the tournament. I would rather see Wiggins go 7-21 and be aggresive than go 5-10 and take the backseat offensively.

Memphis MadnessParticipant7-21? Wiggins is being compared by some to Rudy Gay! Can’t get more Rudyesque than 7-21!
Weird conference tourney season so far though. These have been about as random as exhibition games.
The Real Deal is next week…

livinlegend4blkParticipantI Won’t Put To Much Stock In To the college game look at what pj is doing in the D league and what Glen rice Jr did floor spacing matters in the NBA and the only thing I think He needs to work on is getting stronger everything else will fall in place I see his shot become consistent like a kobe

IhateusernamesParticipantIts 1 damn game. Im a Bulls fan and I saw Jordan have more 9-29 games than I care to remember.
Wiggins is a stud. Sometimes studs go 7 for 21.

BajeebzParticipantYou’d think someone who is both a King and a Wizard would have more important matters at hand than Andrew Wiggins’ shooting performance. Then again, Wizard Kings do like tournaments…

PhillytheKidkobe’s shot is excellent. his shot has always been excellent, hasn’t improved much.
mj was the greatest finisher with a good shot that became a very good shot in his prime.
lebron’s shot was kinda ugly but has become very good.
i think Wiggins’ shot will become very good, at Jordan or Lebron level. He needs to get more comfortable shooting over longer players since he has a hard time creating his shot a la Lebron.
all this Wiggins hate though…..was Carmelo scrutinized this much? Just wondering, I wasn’t on this site back in ’03.

benny15Participanti dont know man, i wasnt using the forum back then. i do know that it doesnt feel like parker is even though a lot of people knew going into the season that he was more polished at the get go and would be treated as the main option while wiggins was going to be plugged into ben mclemore’s role and would have to get his numbers through the team’s system.
not to bash parker or anything, i actually have him on the top of my mock, but it does feel that not only here but as a general consensus that parker isnt nearly criticized on his bad games as wiggins has.

IknowitallJKParticipantYou sit around waiting for a kid to fail or have a bad game, then make a post about it ending in " hahahahaha".
Andrew Wiggins was 7-21 in a game but your 0-1 in life. You suck dude, get a life.

NeggedFolyfeI like wiggings he has talent and a lot of upside but I will admit I sometimes bash him as well but making a thead to wasn’t a great idea, but since were on the subject he has huge holes in his offensive game that a lot of you guys over look I said in a post a few days ago he has 50/50 handel it looks good but it isn’t solid hes getting past ppl because of length and athleticism , hes out of control driving a lot then he does the same spin to the left which I think last night a player picked him because he knew it was coming. maybe I was picking on him with all of these litte things but I looked at his profile and arran said some of the same things………
all in all everybody has bad games its no different then the good game he had you should never get to high on some one because of a good game or to low on someone because of a bad game also it seem players like him excel offensively at the next level no matter how inefficient you may say rudy gay is he makes above 19 million and can go off on anygiving night also feels the stat sheet I think wiggins will be more cleaner then gay because he shoots better.

Ghost01ParticipantHere’s the thing: As annoying as a post like this is, its equally annoying when every time any player ever has a good game people start making threads about how "underrated" players are.
Case in point the first Cuse/Duke game, where suddenly CJ Fair was "no doubt a first rounder" because he had a good collegiate basketball game. Overall bodies of work, as well as skills that translate to the next level determine draft stock.
I thought Wiggins was about to take off, and was disappointed with how he played yesterday. I wouldn’t even begin to say he’s overrated, just maybe that when he scores 40 against an unranked team in a game his team lost, that might not mean he’s suddenly the messiah of basketball. I think he his a slight edge on Parker right now to be the No.1 pick, but for both those guys, the tournament could swing that argument.
Let’s just wait until the season is over to discuss where all these guys stand, instead of this Skip Bayless-style "hot take" opinion that changes every day.

mikeyvthedonParticipantThis is a player who people have been all over the board with. I have maybe changed my opinions or expectations on him slightly as the season has gone on, though never have doubted that he is a great next level prospect. I know he has things that people are worried about and things to work on, though he has overall had a great freshman year. Was not shooting well yesterday, though I thought Iowa State played fantastic defense and did not feel that it was all on Wiggins.
Here is the thing, it is never really all on anybody! All of the consensus top three freshman shot poorly yesterday (Jabari Parker was 6-17 against Clemson, Julius Randle was 4-12 against LSU. Neither of whom are the #16 team in the nation). Wiggins is the one who has gotten the most of this, whether it is on his highs or his lows. He had played 45 minutes the day before, the team got destroyed on the inside by Georges Niang. Dustin Hogue and Melvin Ejim are grown men, not to mention DeAndre Kane. Perry Ellis really came to play, though he and Niang pretty much just could not stop each other. All in all, Kansas lost this one and Wiggins did not play his best, but I don’t get an overtone of "not playing well in big games". Believe me, there are a lot of players who have done worse in their last college game or during a conference tournament.
Great article by USA Today’s Eric Prisbell. Some people whose expectations were out of wack or feel that Wiggins was a let down might not like it, though it is definitely worth a look. Think we have seen a lot of positive from Wiggins this season as a whole and even if you felt the hype was overblown, their is little doubt in my mind that he has proven to be a solid NBA prospect during his freshman season at KU:
