don042488ParticipantI was kind of shocked at the 76’ers dealing all-star guard J’rue Holiday to the Pelicans for Nerlens Noel…Although they filled the point guard position with MCW I felt he was a short term fill in at the 1, until a better point guard comes along in a future draft…Which can still happen, but MCW is putting up big numbers is on pace to winning ROY, something I didn’t see coming…Although the loses are piling up, with MCW, Noel, and Tony Wroten Jr. the 76’ers have a good nucleus to come, not mention their slated to get a top 5 pick in the upcoming draft & the Pelican’s lottery pick…On draft night they can trade all the 2nd round picks they accumulated for more first rounders in the 2014 draft and then perhaps flip those picks with Thaddeus Young for another top 10 pick…The future is bright in Philadelphia especially

Lotto StudParticipantThe only team I can sit back and think of who was similar to this Sixers team is the 2000 Clippers team. They stock piled all the young talent but never kept it together, I hope it does not end the same way in Philly.

Tdvols123ParticipantAnother team that comes to mind is the 2007 Trailblazers. The future was super bright with tons of young talent, but was unable to keep it together due to a myriad of reasons ( a big one being Brandon Roy’s shitty knees). If we’re lucky, we’ll be able to watch this young core grow and develop under MCW, Noel and the duo of future stud/talented role guy they bring in through this draft. They really need to land a Top 2 draft pick(Wiggins or Jabari) to expedite the rebuilding process.

ConezdParticipantI’d say it’s ended up ok for the clippers. 15 years later.

PhillytheKidwas probably 6 months too late, lol. But I still like it and still can’t wait for the draft!
MCW has the body of a throwback NBA player. His length actually stands out against any team and he’s a great fit in the NBA, can get in the paint at will and can get a shot off in the paint due to his length. He needs to get stronger. The shot foundations are there, just needs to get more consistent with it, and I think he will with time.
The kid has nobody to ball with. Only hope is he doesn’t learn bad habits while losing and they play Spurs-type ball in the future (Noel would have to be a Tiago Splitter though because he sure as heck isn’t Duncan offensively, not even David Robinson). If the Sixers are going to be a penetrate and pass ball movement type team (Noel again is Tiago Splitter), the two guys that work best are Jabari Parker and Doug McDermott, it would be beautiful watching those two find each other. Basketball IQ off the charts.
You’d then have MCW, Parker, McDermott, Thad, and Noel. You’d rely on MCW and Noel to be foundational defenders (which they can be) and hope the other three guys can do their jobs.

juves4783Participantit’s sad when the two best athletes are your c and pf (per your proposed lineup). mcdermott at the 3 will get abused on defense and parker at the 2, even worse. guess they could try playing zone…

BajeebzParticipantFor what it’s worth, I’ve always thought you got the short end of the stick, and I’ve been on this site a lot longer than my post count indicates. And the whole “krypt” thing got blown out of proportion. Keep your chin up.
I think Joe Dirt (dir-teh) said it best
Plus 1 for Don

Rip255Haha don’t stress about the negs. I find they are very little reflection on the quality of a post. And people who take the initiative to start a new thread almost always get negged, yet they’re the ones initiating conversation with their opinions.
For all the internet haters out there, your lives must be hardly worth living. Anyone who gives out significantly more negs than thumbs-up has to seriously consider getting psychological help to remove such cynicism from their lives.
I’m still going to neg you, but this time out of respect.

BajeebzParticipantI was referring to the username overhaul that swept across this site after the infamous Josh Smith post. They used “Krypt” in their names. Yes, “crypt” is the correct spelling. Was it McKrypt or McCrypt? I don’t know…Anyway, one comic genius guy and a bunch of followers…I’m just glad Don didn’t jump off a building.

NeggedFolyfeI didn’t like the trade at first but I warmed up to it pretty fast without trading jru we wouldn’t even have a chance at parker or wiggins we gained a clear cut position we are in total rebuild not a half attempt of a rebuild mixed with a 8th seed run like we did for years.

HitsterParticipantThe 76ers tried to become win now when they had Iggy, signed Brand had drafted Holiday, Turner and people thought when they got Bynum after taking Boston to 7 games in the Conference Semi Finals that they could be a legit contender out East maybe almost like the Pacers have now become.
But Bynum didn’t play a game and the trade blew up in their faces as they lost Vucevic who is now a double-double C and Harkness who is looking a useful prospect plus Iggy who would have had good trade value if they had moved him seperately. Personally I think the NOP made the running with the Holiday trade and when Noel fell down the draft they took him knowing he would be out for a while and went into full rebuild.
Holiday has had injury issues this season so the return on his trade was good given the picks they got and the salry increase they were due to pay Holiday. The ditching of Hawes and Turner was a bit strange especially Turner as they moved Iggy to free up a role for him and now he has gone, again it might be money, Turner was probably after a big salary and Philly having had him for 4 years perhaps didn’t feel he justified it. Plus they are a high lottery team so however promising people thought Turner was he was playing on a heavily losing team with a relatively low shooting percentage.
I am worried that Philly have put too much emphasis on this year’s draft hoping to get a major talent e.g top 3 pick. But the lottery could still go against them and if they did fall to say 4th or 5th, they would still have a good talent but maybe not a franchise changer. Sam Hinkie does have draft options but a lot could depend on what happens with the NOP pick.
Best case scenario for the 76ers – it comes over as high as it can, worse case it stays with NOP.
I am prepared to give Sam Hinkie time to rebuild the roster, remember how everyone thought Rob Hannigan had been shafted on the D12/Bynum/Iggy trade but now it looks better value for Orlando.

burgessfourParticipantI remember being shocked when they traded Jrue, especially considering when the trade was first reported the deal was Holiday AND a future first to N.O. for Noel, not Noel and a future first for Holiday. The report was quickly corrected. As a Sixers fan I like the direction they’re going. If you’re a Sixers fan brace yourself for another lottery next year. They’re currently at 15 wins and may end up with only 15-17 wins. Even if they add 10 wins to that total next year they’re STILL not a playoff team in a lousy eastern conference. But they are collecting pieces, MCW, Noel, a top 5 pick this year and perhaps a pick in the 10 area as well. Maybe they get lucky with a second rounder this year. Thad and Wroten, who both may be moved on draft night for other pieces/assets.
It just comes down to how patient you are………..I’ve been waiting since 1983, I can wait another 3-4 years.
