Big UK fan, it seems that this year has been a complete clusterF, Calipari included.  The twins are poisonous I think.  Give me Archie Goodwin in place of both of the twins. and Ryan Harrow can stay as long as he doesn’t get to play either.

i would trade all 4 for a true pg.  all 4 of those guys are too selfish and don’t understand floor spacing.  i think in the perfect world, a true pg with young and randle handling the bulk of the scoring would be the best.  then have poythress and cauley-stein fill in the gaps as defensive specialists and 3rd and 4th scoring options.

When i wrote some time ago that those Twins are toxic. i was damn near kicked off the site. Calipari has failed in reaching this team. Tyler Ulis will be the starting point guard for UK next year. Andrew and Arron will transfer either way they wont be in a UK uniform next year.

not sure why they are considered toxic.  sounds like they were just overhyped or just not ready.  i like how florida is dealing with kasey hill.  he was a top 10 recruit that was a pg.  he has a year to learn under a senior in scottie wilbekin, doesn’t have to shoulder the load of running the team and i think it will really pay off.

i think andrew harrison was thrown into the fire and what was worse was there was no plan b if it didn’t work out.  coach cal should’ve recruited some backcourt help for the twins because they really don’t have much depth.

pre season, either guard combo i would take harrow and goodwin. i never liked the harrison twins. the second the season started last year through today, i don’t want either combo. not sure i would blame harrow, goodwin, harrison, or harrison all on what has been displayed over the last couple seasons.

i am no uk fan, but i have been watching uk for many years along with calipari in wherever he happens to be coaching. i can say calipari is probably the best recruiting coach in college basketball today. he recruits for the most part fast, long, athletic players at the college level that have nba bodies.

anybody that knows the game of basketball knows that the more athletic a player is, the more potential advantage the players has of out jumping, running, or physically imposing the opposition more.

that being said, we should maybe look back at some players calipari is recruiting and see the true progression of them. it seems like generally a calipari big man will be long, athletic, and also defensive minded. i cannot remember the last time calipari made a major impact on a big man’s offensive game. anthony davis is pretty darn good, but before he came to kentucky, he was a guard who happened to have a huge growth spurt. being a guard before helped his offensive game to go along with his already great defensive game. another note is that davis was a top 5 prospect. take noel last year and he was a great defender to begin with. in the year he played at kentucky, his offensive game made me cringe. wcs is an athletic beast who is dedicated to making his game better, as he chose to stay in college for a year. he’s a solid defender, and is getting better offensively as he is learning the game more. but with his talent, he could develop more of his offensive game with shooting, back to the basket, etc. turn back the clock-as good as marcus camby’s career turned out, lets face it-he’s pretty one dimensional offensively. coming into college he’s long, athletic, and already naturally defensive minded.

calipari’s guard development isn’t much to brag about either. derrick rose turned out to be a great player for the bulls, but was it calipari that really developed him? rose his senior season along with michael beasley did something that was thought to be unthinkable at one time and that was leap oj mayo as the top hs prospects in the country. rose could play defense and his quickness and leaping ability was already off the charts. john wall’s make up as a prospect was very similar to that of rose. quicker and more athletic than pretty much any guard out there. both players turned out to be great players, sure-rose even an mvp. entering in the league however, they both were sloppy versions of thereselves. marquis teague was a nice project going into kentucky a few years ago and go figure, it’s not john wall talent-he went nowhere. ryan harrow went from being considered better than teague to the coaches’ scape goat in the same season. i have never been a fan of the harrison twins, but the fact is they are good prospect guards that are repeating the cycle for whatever reason. yes, they seem a bit to into themselves to me like a lot of others on here to. but doesn’t that fall some on the coach to?

this year, there were talks of this kentucky class rivaling any freshman class ever in college basketball. if that were remotely the case, the kentucky would not likely ever fall out of the top 15. calipari can coach at the college level, but he’s not a great coach. he did win a national title and he has come close a few times before, but with the talent he recruits, he should have at least that on his resume.

if i were a kentucky fan, i would hope calipari tweaks his recruiting approach a little. of course get the top prospects available, after all it’s the whole point of calipari’s existence there and it brings revenue to the university. i think he should have his 3 star recruits or lower able to shoot, pass, and pick up screens better than his top ones, so he can fill in some of his coaching voids. if calipari was a great coach, kentucky today would be the yankees of college basketball.

I went to high school years in Houston, so I was very much pulling for the twins to play well. They (especially Andrew) disappointed me very much. I know people that know them very well. They are not bad kids. How can someone call a kid toxic if they never meet the kid? Stop judging people based on what they do on a basketball court.  I just don’t think it is fair to call them toxic because they are kids that have never got into any kind of trouble. Are they brats? Maybe. Immature? Yes. Where they gassed up because they were tall guards that could over power high school guards? Yes. They don’t know how to deal with failure, and therefore their body language stinks when they make a bad play.

Cal did developed players when he was at UMass. Now his guards only stay in school for one year, he does not have much time to develop them.

you are right, the harrison twins are not toxic. they might be immature, but not toxic. however, as a coach, the best coaches are leaders among men. what does that show between both parties then? they need to get their act together and make it work.

cal developed players when he was at umass??? like who? edgar padilla? carmelo travieso? lou roe? smh. elaborate if you gloss something like that over please. camby was naturally a top tier prospect. roe was what he was. that umass team was exactly the epiphany of what i described as a team that got far and filled voids.

The problem with the twins is that they’re not point guards, and as some said, they have a really bad attitude on the court (which doesn’t mean they’re bad kids). When everybody tells you you’re the best, a NBA prospect and so on, if you don’t have the wisdom to be humble and to look at your weaknesses honestly to work on them, you’re gonna fall. That’s kind of what is happening to the twins.

Ps: Cal is a good recruiter but he’s really not the best individual and mental trainer, it feels like the players don’t understand what they’re supposed to do

SUCK!  Log legs, they can’t finish.  Its not about spacing or the flow of th offense, they’re just not dynamic and they guards who dominate the ball by passing to each other.  You needed two guys this year that would feed Randle and have Young get his shots off.

They have the laziest looks on their faces.  They play with no passion…poor guys even if they tried, it woudlnt’ matter because they just stink.

Another reason to like Wiggins, Embiid, and Selden, and Self.  Those three guys signed with a coach that had a vision….and didn’t just get the biggest names he could. Wiggins signed last onto a team where he had a great fit.

I love Wiggins and I’d be very happy if the Sixers got him.  I love all of the top 3.  I least like Randle, If the Sixers get stuck at 4 or 5, I’d rather take Exum or Vonleh than Randle.

Aaron Harrison is the best of all 4 and Harrow is the worst so I’d take the Harrison’s being 1st and 3rd. Archie would be nice because he is better then Andrew.

I would actually of asked. how many people would rather have sophomore Archie Goodwin over James Young?

James Young has been horrible this year, outside of a few big point scored games(out of conference), he can only shoot from corner 3 and has terrible passing, finishing, and dribbling skills. He actually has the worst +/- on the team.

In my opinion the team played best when Andrew and James were benched and Cal started PG Polson, Sg Aaron Harrison, SF Jon Hood, PF Randle, and C Dakari Johnson. Poythress was backing up on the wing with Aaron sliding to point and WCS backing up C/PF.

Young and Andrew Harrison were reserves(8th and 9thman) for about 3games and it seemed to motivate the team for a second.
