-This is Lebron’s first 50 point game at home. Lebron has scored at least 50 points 10 times in his career. 8 with the Cavs, and 2 with the Heat. Pretty interesting that every time before last night has been an away game.

-Lebron tied for most 3 pointers made in a 50 point performance. He was 8-8 from downtown in the first 3 quarters and ended the night 8-10. He is tied with Kobe who made 8-12 in a 65 point performance against the Blazers back in 07.

-This was Lebron’s second 20 basket game. His other game he shot 20-30 against the Magic in a 49 point performance in the 09 playoffs.

-He not only broke the scoring record for the Miami Heat. He also broke the scoring record for a quarter in the 3rd with 25 points, breaking his old record of 24 points.

-The last three 55 point performances have been against the bobcats. (Lebron, Carmelo, Deron Williams)

-One of the more efficient 60 point games ever. Only three games since 1985 have come on more efficient shooting. There has been twenty 60 point games since 1985 ( a lot more then I would have thought). Karl Malone shot 80.8% in a 61 point performance in 1990. Tom Chambers shot 68.8% while scoring 60 in 1990 also. Last one was Shaq scoring 60 on 68.6% in 2000.

-Last but not least, he still had 5 assists while scoring 61 points. That’s 5 more assists then Carmelo had when he scored 62. Even when he is on the verge of setting individual records, still getting his teammates involved.

Overall, just an incredible performance by Lebron James.

The only fact to me that matters the most is that he did not have a single dunk in that game.

Only had 2 turnovers the entire game. I checked on Carmelo’s stats for his 62 point game against Charlotte. Although he didn’t record an assist the whole night (not super surprising), he did have 13 rebounds with 0 turnovers which impressed me

One of the best all-around high scoring games of all time.  Combination of 61 points, 22/33 shooting, 7 boards, 5 assists, and 8 three pointers is mind bending.

    Reopen the MVP race.

Hopefully we get a Heat vs. Thunder Finals (even if you are fan of another team).

If LeBron continues his surge through the rest of the season, picks up his third straight MVP (hasn’t been done since Larry Bird), his fifth MVP award in six seasons (hasn’t been done before), and beats Durant and the Thunder for a threepeat with a third straight Finals MVP (done only by Jordan and Shaq) in his fourth straight Finals appearance (hasn’t been done since Magic/Larry years, and only Bill Russell has as many as three titles with four straight finals appearances), he would be on pace to pass Michael Jordan at some point, as unbelievable as it may sound.

It would help, too, for LeBron to have some great Finals rivalries.  He is 1-1 against the Tim Duncan Spurs Dynasty, and, if the Heat beat the Thunder this season, he would already be 2-0 against one of the game’s best in Kevin Durant.  LeBron vs. Dirk was also a great matchup with two of the all-time best forwards.

Three straight rings would also put LeBron in the running of being the first guy since Bill Russell to win FOUR STRAIGHT rings.

MKG and CDR must be the bizarro version of Jordan and Pippen on defense.

No reason to throw shots at Carmelo. He sat out of his game much sooner than Lebron did in his.

throwing shots at Carmelo? Only negative thing said was that he didn’t have an assist. He might have sat out sooner then Lebron did, but Lebron played 41 minutes, Carmelo played 39…not much of a difference at all.

Well at their rate of scoring it is a big difference. If Melo scored at his rate against Charlotte with 41 minutes he gets 65 and if Lebron plays Melo’s minutes at his rate he gets 58. I’m just being a goofball though. 🙂 Fantastic games by both. If I had to pick a better performance though, it goes to Melo. Zero turnovers with as much as he handled the ball. That’s impressive. He shot almost as well as Lebron did too. Two very impressive games.

On a side note, think Curry’s 54 in the garden last year was the most impressive shooting I’ve ever seen from 3. 11-13!!! Wow. And they weren’t just spot ups or wide open. I’m talking fade away 3s off the dribble off picks with Chandler closing out. Was insane. We are in a great era of basketball and hopefully this draft makes the East a bit tougher, lol

The game Malone scored 61 points the Jazz handed the Milwaukee Bucks their worst defeat ever, 144-96. The Bucks finished that year as the fourth seed in the east so not a bad team.

In that game Malone was 21 of 26 from the field and 19 of 23 from the free-throw line. On top of that he had 18 rebounds, three steals and two assists in just 33 minutes. Note that he did this without shooting a 3!

What could possess a man to play this hard? It had just been announced that A.C. Green had been voted in ahead of Karl as the starter in that year’s all-star game.

Since D Wade seems to have every other night off, I was a bit puzzled to see Lebron out there until the final bell. It’s an amazing accomplishment against a crappy team but Spoelstra rides Lebron as hard as Thibs does with all of his players. I guess the point total was worth keeping him in there with the outcome sealed. Coach Self had Embiid out there when the game was decided the last time Embiid tweaked his back pretty good. I won’t 2nd guess two coaches that have won titles but at what point do you yank a player when the winner is already decided?
