laarethekingsParticipantGoing from the face of the Rockets to the star that the Magic fans didn’t want for TMac. But very few times do you see someone with that much skill just fall off like that. He went from Avg 20-5-5 and 38 mins a game. To around 16, then trade to NY which dropped it to 10ppg then boom out of the league.

he_gets_bucketsParticipantHe was a guy who would dominate games on a pure athletic advantage, and after that recurring tendinitis in his right knee, he never recoverred. Sad really, he was one of the first uber athletic scoring point guard, in the same vein that Derrick Rose and Russell Westbrook are, he was so fun to watch.

KHAM83ParticipantI remember he suffered injuries that stripped him of his athleticism, and maybe his drug use began from back then. That’ll speed up his decline.

Scrooge McDuckParticipantIs Steve Francis’ heavy drug use just speculation? Was there actually evidence for that?

thatdude44ParticipantIt’s really crazy how a injury can knock you out the league. From what I can remember, he was liked. What’s some other reson he may be out the league? Answers please…

mawi7056ParticipantSteve Francis was an unbelievable talent and an incredibly fun player to watch. I don’t know of any official records of Francis’ substance abuse, but if you google pictures of him it’s pretty obvious alcohol and or drugs have taken a tole on his body. Wish him the best.
On a different but somewhat connected note, how great was Allen Iverson’s retirement the other night? As my favorite player and athlete of all time, his speech before the 76ers game was incredibly moving. AI always wore his emotions on his sleeve and that night was no different.

TRACYSPOONParticipantSteve Francis was an electricfying point gurard with mad hops. Nothing against Steve, but I remember seeing Allen Iverson light him up for 65 points.

BeardedDragon84ParticipantBecause the Little Bitch left Vancouver. When you’re getting paid millions of dollars to play a game, just go wherever they send you and give your all to the team, it’s that simple. Because, of his own admittance, if it wasnt for basketball he’d be selling drugs or in prison. But enough about that everytime his name comes up… op pointed to his numbers dropping, that actually happened before he was traded and was because they brought in a new coach. His style of play didnt fit the new direction, a direction that was better for the team (they made the playoffs, only time one of his teams did, by taking the ball out of his hands, slowing down thier offense, and hiding him more on defense). This was when he again showed how much of a pouty little bitch he becomes when he doesnt get his way, and became a locker room cancer wherever he went afterwards. Things like openly disagreeing with the Magic for trading away his buddy Cuttino Mobley, then playing like shit for the rest of the season and getting suspended for "conduct detrimental to the team", show he’s not professional. He had a terrible attitude, and then, yes… as several people pointed out, his talent lay primarily in his athleticism which deteriorated after injuries. Ultimately, he fell back into drugs, which had been a part of the culture he grew up in. Allegedly… He has nothing to do and still some money left from basketball while he waits for that sweet sweet rap money to flood his way (because yeah, Fucking Franchise is going to be the athlete who transitions over to hip-hop artist succesfully), so why shouldnt he smoke some crack?
