Steve Nash will forever be the best Point Guard the league has ever seen. His ability to shoot and make any pass in the world gives him that title. I’m sorry its no disrespect to Magic but Magic only wishes he could shoot like Nash.

So Yes, I’m saying if I’m putting a team together I’m selecting Nash over any other point guard. He can make any NBA player look like star.
It almost made me cry watching that video. Hope he finds his way to a title before he retires.

I guess if you are talking PURE PG he is in the conversation, but to say that "Steve Nash will FOREVER BE the best Point Guard the league has ever seen" means that you are saying he won’t be surpassed as the best PG. Ever. I don’t know if most people would call him the best ever as of now. I know he won 2 MVP’s, but I don’t think the NBA community respects those MVP’s as much as they maybe should. D’Antoni also makes PG’s look VERY good. He helped create "Linsanity". Hell, he grabbed Kendall Marshall out of the D-League and is helping to make him probably 7 figures. Not saying Nash isn’t in the conversation, and I respect your opinion (Hell, the man is still out there trying to do it at 40 in the NBA) I just don’t think his name comes to mind. With Magic, his size helped him do other things but I guess he isn’t playing PG when he is playing C. Also, there isn’t always a need for straight up positional differences anymore. PG’s are combo guards and PF’s are stretch 4’s and there isn’t even a starting C in the All-Star game anymore because there aren’t enough C’s that are dominant. Hell, I always looked at Jason Kidd and Allen Iverson as the best PG’s of the past 15-20 years but Iverson was more of a combo guard (really a shooting guard with Eric Snow as the point) and Kidd didn’t win 2 MVP’s (although he did go to the Finals as the best player twice and won a title as a major contributor once). Maybe I don’t appreciate him as much as I should.

    Nash was considered a great PG with Dallas. He established himself way before the D’Antoni era. Iverson never played PG (meaning he never had the intention of getting others involved). Kidd was great but was always a horrible shooter. And I mean HoRRIBLE. To say Kidd’s passing that much greater than Nash to make up the difference between his shooting and Nash’s is an insult. I’m telling you NO ONE is more of a complete package at the PG spot than Steve Nash. He is literally the definition of what you want as a PG.
    Magic- Amazing passing, no shooting
    Kidd- same as magic
    Stockton- overall was great but not amazing. ( don’t let my words downgrade stockton, he was GREAT but skill wise Nash has him beat.
    I’m telling you you would want Nash over these guys. Yes even Magic.

      I wouldn’t say "great" before playing for phoenix. With dallas, he was always one of those borderline all-stars like he could make the team or not, kinda in the discussion but not a lock. similar to players like manu throughout his career or someone like david west. But then he went to phoenix and blew up.
      Personally I think payton and cp3 are the two best pg’s I have ever seen when healthy and in their primes.

He isn’t the best Point Guard the league has ever seen I would include him on my greatest players I’ve ever watched play the game and he’s been one of the 3 best PG’s in the NBA in the past 10 years in my opinion. I think that his ability to elevate the play of his teammates is one of the best I’ve ever seen. I hope he does win a ring one day he definitely deserves one.

He is a special one, but I think this is the last year of Steve Nash the player. I could be wrong, but unless he tries to hang on next season and tries to chase a ring (like McGrady with the Spurs last season) I just don’t anticipate that dream coming true.

For him as a Lakers fan. He’s a great guy, with a good personality. I wish the Lakers waive/trade him and go to a contending team (Pacers or Thunder) for the sake of genuine respect to the guy.

Trade him to a contender so he gets his ring??? If he was good enough (or is good enough) to win a ring he would have or will!
McGrady was one of my favourite players but to see him sitting on the end of the bench for the spurs lining up for a chance at a ring was almost embarrassing.
I like Nash a lot but don’t trade him to the thunder "out of respect", if anything that’s disrespectful IMO

As a Suns fan, Nash was a demi-god to me perhaps the team’s best player ever but I would never say he was the best PG ever. Magic is certainly ahead of him along with Stockton and perhaps Kidd.
Steve had chances to win a title with the Suns but Sarver’s cost cutting maybe cost us the chance. He went to the Lakers to try and do the same but it hasn’t worked out. He is under cotract for next season but with it only being partially guaranteed will the Lakers want to pay him $9.7 million next year when his buy out is probably under half that and they can use the cap space to chase a top FA.
Steve may be 40 but I feel he’d still get an offer or two. He would probably be a great fit for a young team wanting a locker room leader or someone to control the tempo perhaps with the 2nd unit. But realistically Steve would want to go to a contender where again if he could get 15mpg he’d be ideal to lead the 2nd unit. He may have lost some speed and isn’t a great defender but he’d still have his basketball IQ and could have younger athletic guys to cover him on defence whilst his skillset makes them better on offence.
Several teams have young PGs and Nash would be a good guy to have around to cover/mentor them. A team could offer him maybe an Assistant Coaching job if he wasn’t to play much and he would only need to be in the roster when required.
