CavFanPRParticipantAs a Cleveland fan, I’m happy to say that Bennett has his first double double against the kings. He has 19 points to go along with 10 rebounds and 3/3 from downtown. Missed five free throws but otherwise, great game. He did this against one of his closest comparisons, Derrick Williams.

qDizzle32ParticipantIt was just way too early for everybody to call him that big of a bust. At the time of the draft, I was one of the few who actually liked the pick even though I was pretty shocked during the draft as well. Him being the first pick put a lot of pressure on him after he never expected that just like everyone else. Still don’t think he will ever go down as the best player from the 2013 class but he could still be a solid NBA player for years to come.

Prime TimeParticipantIt’s nice to see his confidence growing. He has skill and attributes as a player that should make him successful. Cleveland put a lot of expectations on him by taking him #1. He probably didn’t even think he’d be in the running for the first pick unless Cleveland told him. He had his injury, and then he hasn’t had consistent play time where he can make mistakes. I would like nothing more than to see him be successful in the league. It’s too early to call him a bust in my opinion, and in a couple years he may surprise us all.

LitteringAnd…ParticipantI do think people underate just how tough his shoulder injury was on his form and physical condition. I think once everyone kind of got past his bust status and some of the focus dropped a little he’s been able to get in shape, get out there, and start improving his game. Good on him, I hope he can be a Carl Landry type guy, crafy inside scorer who bangs and is the first guy off the bench in a top team, that’s where I see his ceiling.

festar35ParticipantI still very much see his future as an Antawn Jamison level player.

ph90702It will take time for him to get into shape and manage his health. When he does, he will get better and better.

Ghost01ParticipantI don’t think Bennett is terrible.
I don’t think he’s neccesarily good either.
A. He is in a terrible situation. From coaching, to players attitudes, to the log jams they have at certain positions, it is a terrible basketball team. They found a way to F up a chance at LBJ this summer, and they’ve also made Luol Deng look like the most miserable guy in the league.
B. He hasn’t been in shape. And if he gets in shape, and stays that way, he will be okay.
The 2013 draft sucked. Point blank, it sucked. He won’t go down as one of those superstar No.1 overalls, but I think he will get himself out of the Kwame conversation as well.

MopgrassParticipantHe weighed 280 to start the year and he’s down to 260. He should probably play at 240.
He was actually my favorite in the draft (thought he’d go 2nd). Who knows who will end up being the best in the 2013 draft? Bennett, Adetokuobu, MCW, Nerlens, McLemore, Zeller, McCollum, Burke, Schroeder? Someone else I forgot? Right now it looks like Adetokuobu or MCW, but a lot of guys haven’t been given minutes to show their stuff yet (including the 1st pick).
It’s nice to see Bennett get some minutes. I hope they play him 30 minutes next game so he can get something rolling.

NtsapParticipantHopefully Cleveland balances their roster and give him some more chances . He was injured and supposedly out of shape before he got injured. Next year if he gets in better shape he should be much better.

JoeWolf1We all knew he wasn’t going to score under 3 ppg and shoot 28% forever. Cavs suck, he’ll get more minutes. I wouldn’t be shocked if he upped his ppg to 6 or 7 by the end of the year. They’re so low, It’s gonna be really easy to bring them up at this point.

kanuflengParticipantthe cavaliers just needs to keep on playing him. theres no better way to build up his confidence but to give him minutes. for bennett’s part, he needs to lose weight until his around 240 which is the ideal weight for him like in college.

he recently got moved up to being the first big off the bench, right now Verajao is injured again so Tyler Zeller the 4th big man is starting, but Bennett is playing as many and most of the time more minutes and Tristan Thompson is sliding to Center.
Put into perspective since his minutes got bumped up:(from ESPN)… The top pick in last year’s draft is averaging 9.4 points and 5.1 rebounds in the past eight games — much better than his season marks of 3.8 and 2.8.
Since they traded away Bynum, Bennett’s minutes(as well as Zeller’s) have sky rocketed to around 20 per game and he has been able to play himself into game shape.
I am probably alone on this, but I’m starting to think if he would of been able to play summer league he would be starting right now and be at least in the top 10 for rookie of the year talk.

HaleParticipantHe was a terrible pick at #1 but that doesn’t make him a terrible player. Supposedly he’s lost like 30 lbs since the beginning of the year or something so that probably has played a part in his resurgence of late.

aamir543ParticipantAs someone who had shoulder surgery this past summer, I definitely think that had a lot to do with his slow start as well as the fact that he was playing out of position. But when you come back from a shoulder injury, you have to rebuild a lot of that strength up, and it takes a while to get comfortable and get that muscle memory back.
