burgessfourParticipantAssuming the Sixers bring back Thad, Hawes, ET, could they actually be decent next year ?
They should have 2 lottery picks this year, a high #2 pick, MCW, Noel and the 3 players listed above.
Even if they bring back ET & Hawes they’ll be 10 million under the cap.
I still think Thad can be a starter on a good team, and ET and Hawes are good enough to get 20+ minutes on a good team.

Ghost01ParticipantLast night wasn’t a good sign lol…
They need to hit on these lottery picks this year. Otherwise they are going to go down the Orlando road of having a lot of nice young players but nothing substantial enough to make the team actually good.

burgessfourParticipant……..but I’m assuming Brett Brown is a good coach that hasn’t shown the current team the binder with
the “real” defensive sets in it 🙂0 - Posted on: Mon, 02/10/2014 - 2:12pm #870637

mplsrawkusParticipanti think they should trade Turner before the dead line. all i’ve heard is he’s trying to get big money this off season and the sixer don’t know if he’s worth a big contract. if the sixers aren’t try to pay him they should trade him. i think he’s decent but noth worth big dollars.

GlenTaylorSucksParticipant…seems like the piece that doesn’t fit at this point. Hawes and Noel could be a good tandem. MCW REALLY needs shooting wings. Getting guys like…say, Wiggins and Young would do a lot for that team, and trade Turner for a PF.

burgessfourParticipantI agree Turner doesn’t fit but I doubt they get much for him. Would love to see them get Randle/Vonley with the N.O. pick but that’s probably a reach. Perhaps Jabari Brown or CJ Wilcox with the early 2nd rounder. If they somehow end up with Embiid, Wiggins or Parker with their first pick it would be sweet.

runBruceParticipantNo sense in keeping those guys. As a sixers fan, if we do get into the playoffs next year, we aren’t going anywhere. Which is fine. We, as sixers fans, need to be ok with the idea that it’s going to take some time. enjoy the ride. Drafting MCW was a homerun and Noel might be too…..we’ll see….but keeping mediocre players and getting the 8th seed in the playoffs is what got us into this mess to being with. I wouldn’t stunt the growth of the young guys to find playing time and/or shots for these guys, when they might provide the sixers with some draft assets. Also keep in mind, there is only so much $$$$….ET is going to want a chunk. Are you sold on him enough to pay big $$$ to keep him. I say, let some other team overpay for him. Best case scenario is all three of these guys get traded before the dead line.

Ebown5ParticipantEven if we get two studs with our first round picks this year, we still will be ridiculously young. I believe in Brett Brown, and mcw is the real deal, but I think that it would be a huge success to win 40 games next year, and even then it would only happen if we brought back players that I don’t see us bringing back.
We will probably win between 30-35 games next year at best, and that is fine with me.

Taylor Gang MikeParticipantEt needs to stay.. A lineup next year of
MCW
ET
Parker/Wiggins/Levine
Noel
Embid
would be great. You can even slide Lavine to the 2 and put ET to the 3.. Why build a whole new 2 and 3 and have chemistry issues with MCW… We have Wroten too, who is becoming realy good. MCW and ET are a great defensive tandem they get in the passing lanes and get steals and push for fast breaks. Idk, I just dont want to suffer again for the next 5 years, I rather be bad this year and get ok next year, then be really good in 3 years

runBruceParticipantHow are you going to get Embiid and Wiggins?….and congrats, you essembled the worst shooting team in the league. Where is all this chemistry you speak of? They lost by 40 pts two nights in a row.

ProudGrandpaParticipantThere’s not a lot of star power, though. There would be a lot of pressure on one or two of those rookies to be The Guy early on and that’s not a formula success. Say it’s the final seconds and the Sixers need a bucket. Who gets the ball? Turner? Young? MCW? Parker/Wiggins? There’s really no go-to scorer on that team. They could be a playoff team in the Eastern Conference, but that’s not saying much. The pieces are there, but "decent next year"? I don’t think they’ll be a concern to any of the East’s elite teams (all 2.5 of them…).
