While watching The Starters today on NBATV they said that the Bobcats were showing interest in acquiring Evan Turner. First I ask do you think they should go after him? And if they should, what do you think they would have to give up in order to get him?

Turner is due to be a restricted free agent after this season….not a bad time to have your best season as a pro. He is never going to be a knock down shooter but he is a great ball handler and rebounder at SF and has proven to be pretty clutch lately as well. He could certainly help the Bobcats who could use more scoring. Now it doesn’t make the most sense unless you want to keep him long term.

Now as for what the Sixers could get for him who really knows…Ben Gordon’s expiring contract could be something they are interested in. I think a package of MKG and Biyambo would be fair as well. Charlotte may have as many as 4 first round picks depending on lotto protection so it is likely they will be after a mid-first round pick in the deal to give the Sixers 3 first rounders of their own.

I don’t think Charlotte should. Evan is a 3 and so is MKG and MKG has shown consistency. While MKG is far from an offensive player, his defense is always there. Evan is a ball-dominant player, but he can share the ball with Kemba and Jefferson. For the Bobcats, I think they’ll consider ET if he is a FA if they give up on MKG. If the Cats were to trade fir him, though, I think a deal revolving around Henderson or MKG would make sense for Phillie. I think they’d look for Henderson more because they can potentially get Wiggins or Parker, Small Forwards. The Sixers are building towered the future, and a MCW, Henderson, Parker/Wiggins, maybe Thad, and Noel will be a decent-to-good defensive lineup

I’ve watched this kid since his days at OSU and he has always played with a chip on his shoulder. He has been clutch lately which is what the bobcats need. He offers talent and leadership quantities to the bobcats which is always very uselful doesn’t matter what team your on. What the bobcats will trade for him I don’t know, this trade could be as easy as pie or super hard, but that’s the way all trades go.

Sherron Collins, Antoine Walker, Shaun Livingston and even Jannero Pargo.  Jordan gives Chicago area products a chance when nobody else will.  His infactuation with Chicago area kids continues with Turner who could be a future All-Star…

the bobcats needs shooters who can defend which is completely the opposite of Turner. him and MKG at 2 and 3 would be a disaster. they need to space the floor for Kemba and Big Al.

Charlotte is about the 8th team that has "expressed interest".  There is probably a deal but likely with someone who hasn’t been mentioned.

Evan has been our leader all year, he and Thad Young are Philly guys through and through, both have been repeatedly if they wanted to be traded to a better/different team and they’ve both said they bleed 76er blue…

Turner isn’t going to command more than 8-10 million as a Free Agent, the 76ers drafted and deveoped ET into a very solid player, one who can play PG-PF at times, he’s, Thad and Spencer provide so much versatiliy at their positions, Turner is a great rebounder and a tough defender, he has a winner’s mentality and has come up clutch and hit 2 or 3 game winners this year, you don’t let a guy before you’ve fully seen what he can do for you once you put enough talent around him

The 76er’s core for the future is Evan Turner, Thad Young, Micheal Carter-Williams, N.Noel and T.Wroten…We still have to wait until the draft lottery and figure out who is available and fits in the best, then we have Free Agency and MAX salary cap space to think about, I keep saying resign Turner and Hawes for the right price and make a run at Greg Monroe, if Monroe gets resigned by Detroit wait a year for Kevin Love to opt out of Minnesota and through him a MAX contract and the chance to play in the City of Brotherly Love with a stable of young horses…

I agree with alot of your posts, but as a fellow sixers fan I can’t see your faith in ET. He is such a bad shooter and terrible off the ball. Basically, he needs to have the ball in his hands to be effective…which means he really is best suited to run the point from the forward position but we have MCW so we don’t need a point foward(and given ET is acutally an underrated passer but I’d rather have MCW). Are you really satisfied with ET as your 2 or 3 as bad of an athlete as he is…..I’m not. I was really pro evan early on, but when you watch the games he has his moments but is sooooooo inconsistent. I’ve never seen a guy be so unstoppable one game and invisible the next better than Evan. I feel like us philly fans want him to be good, but at this point he might be what he is….A better than average NBA player but not a force….and the biggest problem I see with ET is he thinks he’s "the guy" and he’s really just a part. If we are rebuilding, I want to scrap the whole thing. If we aren’t building around a player, he should go. We can’t build on a foundation that is proven to be fundamentally flawed.

I love your idea of monroe next to Noel. wow. that would be nice. If they get monroe, they could focus on a 2 and a 3 in the draft. Love, even better. But I can’t get my hopes up about love.

We also need better athletes to play Brett’s D, so the draft is key. I really like wroten also. He’s kinda of inefficient and a bit turnover prone but there is something there. you can just see his potential.  I would love to see him in a lou williams 6th man role.

Draft 139 days away. Future is bright.

You can definitely argue both ways for whether or not Charlotte should go after him.  Turner can play SG or SF, and he’s a good ball-handler/creator for those positions.  Kemba is more of a scoring PG than a creator, so I think both of them being decent playmakers is what a team like Charlotte needs.  I think those two could be a really good match together.

Having said that, if the Bobcats are trying to keep MKG and Kemba as part of their core, they could REALLY use a SG that can be a knock down shooter.

I think a guy that fits the mold for them a little better than Turner would be Arron Afflalo.  He’s always been a knock-down shooter, and he’s a pretty good playmaker and ball-handler in his own right, as well as being a solid defender.
